Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Feeling My Age

Luckily for me, I had a good night’s sleep because it was an early start for me and I was at the shop at 7.30am setting up for the art class.

Bubbles joined the table and created some art too so there were 6 of us, including me.

It was a fun group with a couple of new ladies. It seems the email that I sent out to ten people last week didn’t reach its destination, so that’s why our class was a bit short.

There was the usual hearty laughter during the class as well as the long silences as we all focussed on the job at hand.

It seems everyone was happy with their effort.

By the time the class was over and most of the mess was cleaned up, my feet were killing me and I was exhausted!

The only thing to do was jump in the pool to cool down and soak up some magnesium to soothe the tired legs!

I cooked up a roast lamb with veggies for dinner and at 7.20pm I looked at the clock and groaned because I was certain it was 9pm!! The best I could do was push it to 8pm and then I dragged myself to bed only to be informed by Adoring Husband that he’d made up the dog food today but left it in the pot on the stove, so we dragged ourselves OUT of bed to get that organised.

I’m done now.

Happy Sunday to you all 😎

No More Sleeps

Wednesday was a great day at the shop.

Good sales with a few visitors in town and still enough time to set up the training room for the art workshop on Saturday.

We had to rush into town straight after closing the shop to make a 3.30pm appointment with our financial planners.

We were late only because we got every red light in The Bay and there was a bank up of slow moving traffic. Something we’ve never encountered before.

It was a good meeting which ended right on 5pm and because we hadn’t planned dinner, we drove to the supermarket and I bought some wild caught salmon.

Today (Thursday) has been relaxing.

Adoring Husband jumped into the pool after mowing the lawn so I climbed out of bed and joined him. The water was lovely and cool and we took each of the psychotic dogs in for a swim. I did a few laps, tried unsuccessfully to convince AH to do some moving exercises in the water. We played catch with the ball for a while.

AH eventually deserted me and I enjoyed some time under the Bali hut on my own.

I did some washing, gave psychotic dog Ruby a bath and put some drops in her eyes. We had some more wild caught salmon for dinner. I love that stuff.

Bubbles arrives at 11am tomorrow (Friday) and we are ready for her! I can’t wait for a Bubbles cuddle!

The Motivator had another great day at the shop today, so things are going quite well for the ‘usually quiet’ February.

It’s almost midnight so I’d best get some sleep.

Nite all.

Counting Sleeps

Two more sleeps til Bubbles arrives.

Five more sleeps til Adoring Husband takes me on our early anniversary celebrations.

I'm looking forward to the next three weeks having some alone time with Bubbles and with AH.

AH and I haven't had a holiday (or any time) together since 2012 so this is going to be fabulous.

There will be a lunch with friends, dinners in classy restaurants, a river cruise, markets, shopping, IKEA, a night at the races, walks on the beach and maybe a visit to Montville.

Even though I feel exhausted just looking at that sentence, it's going to be great.

Today started very nicely having coffee with the girls and it was almost midday before I got home.

I'd bought a couple of pineapples so I peeled and chopped them up for freezing. I made up smoothie packs to freeze. Some with fruits and some with veggies. Now there are about 20 packs of fresh frozen food for blending.

AH made up dog food for psychotic dogs Jack and Colli while I did some art in my room.

We watched our usual quiz shows in the late afternoon and had an easy dinner.

The water in the pool is too warm for me to enjoy swimming, which means that it's been about 5 days  since I had a swim! We need another big heavy storm to cool down the water.

I'm working in the morning which means I have to be up bright and early for meditation so I'd best get some sleep.

Nite all.

Not My Fun Day

Sunday was not my fun day.

My ‘to do’ list included:

  • 3 loads of washing
  • Clearing off the dining table (which was home to a month’s worth of dumping)
  • Making up and batching 10 days worth of dog food for psychotic dog Ruby who is on a diet of kangaroo and veg
  • Clearing the rear bedroom in preparation for Bubble’s visit this week
  • Culling approximately 60 recipe books from the book case
Not a big list but quite time consuming and not at all enjoyable.

I made up for it today (Monday) by staying in bed until dinner time.

I watched a LOT of YouTube videos to determine what to teach in this Saturday’s class and have decided on what is called “chameleon” cells...

I would have practiced today but my studio is, once again, too messy to work in. It doesn’t take much to mess it up. In fact it takes 20 minutes of art to make 2 hours of clean up time. Ya gotta hate that.

My food intake is still on track and my tummy has been super happy for 8 days straight.

I’m looking forward to coffee with the girls tomorrow and it’s already well after midnight so I’d best get some sleep!

Nite all.
