Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

I'm Done

This is my last post for a while.

Too many things to mention but I hope to be back in a few days.

Meanwhile I have two links to share.

One is from a solicitor's website regarding the mandatory anthrax vaccine that all military personnel were required to take back in 2004 and the subsequent adverse reactions, immediate, short term and long term.

The compensation that was offered afterwards and the withdrawal of the vaccine.

This next link is for the AFLA solicitors website. They are the group currently in the Supreme Court fighting for our right to choose. There is an interesting video interview on their home page that has great information.

I am currently in my shop, still with an hour to kill until closing time. It has been a steady day and I'm looking forward to going home and floating around in my pool for an hour.

Received some new stock yesterday afternoon. Gorgeous Serenade wallets and bags.

Enjoy the next few days and stay safe.

Nite all.

Long Day

Something in the air or a change of energy brought only five people to meditation this morning.

It was late yesterday that I found out The Gypsy couldn’t take the class, I had no contact details for the regulars and I knew it was too late to post it on the FB page so I was prepared to lead a discussion group and provide tea and coffee to fill the void.

Before I even offered, the first group of four decided to go for coffee so I received some warm hugs and off they went.

The fifth person arrived soon after they’d left and we sat in the training room chatting for a little while before she received a phone call from those four people inviting her to join them, so off she went and I was given two extra hours in my work day!

I spent my first hour creating new files and filing.

As I was making a cup of tea at 8.30am, my first customer walked through the door. She browsed for about twenty minutes before complimenting the shop and making a good purchase.

I had a few customers just like that today.

I finalised a couple of orders.

I photographed all the lovely new jewellery that came in on Monday. These are a few of my favourite pieces …

I have to say that the extra two hours certainly wore me out and I was looking forward to heading home at 2pm.

Thankfully my good sales made the hours worth it.

At home I put my feet up for two hours - edited some photos of the jewellery and posted them to FB.

I cooked duck with vegetables for dinner, watched Gogglebox and Love it or List it then came to bed.

It’s already 10.30pm and I’m buggered.

Nite all.

The Psychology of Conformity

This is a ten minute video about conformity vs nonconformity. I found it quite interesting. I’m not sure that you will but thought I’d share it anyway.

I had a great day at the shop. It was a slow start but I finished with a flourish and sales were impressive.

More stock arrived - essential oils, room sprays and reed diffusers - which I processed easily.

I started to photograph the new jewellery but didn’t get very far. I still need to photograph, price and display it and I have some new ideas because it’s too beautiful for basic displays.

I cancelled journaling because we had an art workshop tonight and I knew I couldn’t manage work, journaling and the art class.

This is the outcome …

It was far more challenging than I expected but I enjoyed the class and having six of my art girls join me made it pretty great.

There were thirty in attendance including one male and I didn’t get photos of everybody’s work but everyone seemed to have a good time.

We were there for three hours and it’s the first time in nineteen months that I’ve been to the club!

Anyway, it’s almost 11.30pm and I have meditation in the morning - which will be interesting because there’ll be no Gypsy to run the class. Eep I’ll be winging it!

Sleep time for me.

Nite all.

Financial Luck

There were unexpected savings aplenty for us today.

We drove into The Bay at around 9am and our first stop was Truckloads to purchase a Mont Marte Creative Art Station …

I phoned them on Friday to confirm that they had them in stock and to verify the price, which they quoted at $249. We could get it online for that price, but in addition would have to pay $65 shipping.

We quickly found the box on the floor and took it to the checkout where they charged us $200!

Unexpected that was!

A young man found a trolley and wheeled it to the car for us. The station has a metal frame and is quite heavy, so we were grateful for his assistance.

We decided to stop at Su Jus Cafe for a coffee and a green juice.

Nana’s Pantry was next on our nonexistent list to find tapioca flour and Roogenic’s tea. I got myself some more Anti-inflammitea because I drink it every day. I expected that they would hike the price up but it was the same as online - less the shipping.

Next we stopped at the framers to pick up my customer’s framed artwork. The original quote was for $245 but when I took the cash out of my purse he dropped it to $200!

Stocklands is where we had to take Adoring Husband’s hearing aids. Surprisingly and thankfully they are still under warranty (we thought the warranty had run out) so the broken one will be replaced and we sent the other one with it to be serviced. What luck!

I went for a walk to some clothes shops where I walked in without checking in - my little experiment to see if I got pulled up. No-one pulled me up or checked with me.

I tried two white tops on in Just Jeans and almost bought them at $60 each, but at the last minute I decided that they weren’t exactly what I was after so I put them back on the rack.

I walked next door to Suzanne Grae’s where I found two white tops. A simple white t-shirt and a sleeveless white tunic style top. They were exactly what I was after and they were priced at $20 each so I took them to the counter where I was charged $27 in total!

That adds up to approximately $4,117 of unexpected savings for the day 🤗

There were fresh sunflowers in Coles so I grabbed two bunches and then found some beautiful big KP mangoes in the kiosk out the front, as well as some locally grown tomatoes - Roma and Beefsteak.

On the way home we stopped at Craignish and I bought some cooked sand crabs and tiger prawns.

We dropped the framed painting in at the shop and I checked the mail. My Natopia leggings finally arrived, as did my bottles of Vit 3D drops and a nice box of delicious silver and gemstone jewellery.

It was 2pm by the time we’d finished unpacking everything and sat down with our lunch.

We were both feeling a bit weary and at 4pm AH said he was going to lie down for a bit - that was three hours ago.

I got some washing off the line, tidied the mess I’d made in my bedroom this morning when I was trying to get ready and now I’m lying in bed ready to make a ‘to do’ list for tomorrow. There is much to do!

One thing that I discovered today is that my jeans are uncomfortably tight so it’s time to be more discerning about what goes into my mouth. The pool has warmed up at just the right time so I can get some movement and activity happening with this old body.

Tomorrow is going to be a big day with the shop, morning coffee with the girls, journaling and then an art class at the club in the evening!

I’ll try to remember to take pics!

Nite all.

Disturbing

I was so distracted reminiscing over old blog posts that I forgot to do Saturday’s post!

Oops.

I had a very slow Saturday at the shop, but luckily had a couple of visitors which helped the time pass quickly.

My first priority upon arriving home was to change into my swimmers and jump in the pool.

The water was perfect and I was having a fine relaxing and peaceful time soaking up the sun and listening to good music when suddenly Adoring Husband appeared and did his usual “let’s disturb the peaceful ambience and without any warning take an almighty leap into the middle of the pool” trick.

He thought he was hilarious until I asked “can I assume that you thought to take your hearing aids out?”

The smile disappeared, colour drained from his face as he reached up to feel for the aids and he rushed out of the pool to check if he’d taken them off inside the house.

Meanwhile, I spotted them on the bottom of the pool about 12” apart with Wally the mechanical pool cleaner rapidly approaching.

I dived under the water and was able to grab one of them but lost sight of the other so I was grappling underwater with Wally - like Steve Irwin wrestling with a crocodile - I had to drag Wally across to the other side of the pool because it was as if he was being drawn to the hearing aid like a bloody magnet!

Eventually I rescued the second hearing aid but it was too late.

I dried them and lay them in the sun hoping that the breeze and the sunshine would dry them completely and that they would still be in good working order, but alas one of them is dead.

*sigh*

That was the end of all tranquility.

Adoring Husband had a paleo pizza for dinner and I had a fresh fruit salad with blackberries, strawberries, watermelon, mango and raspberries.

For some strange reason I woke up at 3.30am Sunday morning and couldn’t get back to sleep so I played on my iPad until 5.45am then made myself some breakfast and a cup of tea. By 6.30am I was sound asleep again and didn’t wake up til 10.30am!

At 11.30am I was back in the pool where I stayed for about an hour. To dry off, I sat in my swinging egg chair with my iPad for another hour.

No frolicking husband this time!

I came inside to find AH watching the old movie “To Kill a Mockingbird”.

My plan was to clean my art room, but this is one of my all time favourite movies so of course I had to sit down and watch it.

After the movie I crumbed some chicken and cooked it up for our early-ish dinner, making one chicken Parma for AH.

We watched the Hey Hey It’s Saturday 50 Year Special and now here I am in bed.

Normally this would be my Covid post and while I do have some fresh information to share, I’ll save it for tomorrow.

AH and I have to head into The Bay tomorrow to pick up a framed painting for a customer, purchase an art station for my Art Studio and grab a few other things while we’re there. Well either do breakfast or lunch as well.

Let’s hope I get to sleep through the night without interruption.

Nite all.
