Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Movie Date

Pity the nation whose people are sheep,

and whose shepherds mislead them.

Pity the nation whose leaders are liars, whose sages are silenced,

and whose bigots haunt the airwaves.

Pity the nation that raises not its voice,

except to praise conquerors and acclaim the bully as hero

and aims to rule the world with force and by torture.

Pity the nation that knows no other language but its own

and no other culture but its own.

Pity the nation whose breath is money

and sleeps the sleep of the too well fed.

Pity the nation — oh, pity the people who allow their rights to erode

and their freedoms to be washed away.

My country, tears of thee, sweet land of liberty. ~Lawrence Ferlinghetti

BGWLBH and I went to the movies today and saw Argylle. It started off really well but about two thirds of the way through, it became ridiculous and we almost left before it finished.

We had taken the opportunity to purchase the recliner chairs at the rear of the cinema and they were so comfortable, we decided to watch the ridiculousness of the movie just to enjoy the chairs.

So neither of us recommend the movie Argylle.

Before the movie, we had breakfast at Arkarra Tea Gardens, which was lovely at that hour of the day. I had a mixed berry frappe and accidentally spilt some on my white top - which I didn’t even realise until I used the bathroom at the cinema.

Can’t take me anywhere.

We did the rounds of the bakery, the newsagent, the Reject Shop, Choice, a lady’s clothing boutique, Su Jus Cafe and ran an errand for Adoring Husband, so it was quite late when we finally arrived home.

The usual Friday night fare for dinner.

Now it’s time to sleep.

D & M

Two big days in a row.

Yesterday was meditation, qi gong and an almost 5 hour session with The Gypsy.

Our sessions are always amazing, educational, inspiring, therapeutic and exhausting. I thoroughly enjoy them and we could easily talk for ten hours if given the opportunity! However, on Tuesday, we had to make a conscious effort to end the session because we were both mentally exhausted!

I still got some Harley play in and then cooked a roast vegetable frittata, stuffed mushrooms, lamb cutlets and side salad for dinner.

Today was five hours in The Bay.

I forgot to order a FROG box this week, so we shopped at the Farm Gate kiosk in Stocklands and purchased some delicious fruit and vegetables.

We updated our lottos.

Did a meat shop at Pialba butchery, including bulk dog bones for Harley.

Then it was a big grocery shop at Coles.

In between, we browsed and window shopped and before we drove home, we got our usual Su Jus order.

On top of my big Tuesday, today was a long day and after unpacking the groceries, playing with Harley and cooking dinner - protein with mashed potato, sweet chilli carrot sticks and garlic butter snow peas, I was doubly exhausted!

I even came to bed before MAFS was finished and now it’s almost 10.30pm!

Gotta get some sleep.

Mindless Monday

The smart way to keep people passive and obedient is to strictly limit the spectrum of acceptable opinion, but allow very lively debate within that spectrum. That gives people the sense that there's free thinking going on, while all the time the presuppositions of the system are being reinforced by the limits put on the range of the debate. ~Noam Chomsky

Harley behaved very strangely today.

This morning, he voluntarily stopped playing after 25 minutes and sat beside me on the outdoor lounge. He NEVER does that. He plays until he drops!

This afternoon, he voluntarily stopped after 20 minutes!

All day, he barely left my side and was overly cuddly and affectionate.

Odd behaviour.

I watched a couple of fluffy romance movies during the day.

Sorted out our power bill with Adoring Husband. $590 for one month!!! We’ve even had our solar panels checked and cleaned.

Ergon have checked it. The solar company have checked it. An electrician has checked it. An X-Solar panel worker has checked it. The ombudsman has checked it. They all claim that the panels are working perfectly.

Whatever.

I cooked fried rice to accompany the lamb loin chops that AH cooked on the barbecue.

MAFS tonight!

Now it’s time to sleep. Meditation tomorrow.

Slovenly Sunday

I found this in Cyberworld today …

So, there is a lot of talk about kids identifying as cats or dogs “furries”, they call them.

Imagine if you can, that one of my kids told me they thought they were a cat?

Sitting at the supper table son says: “Dad, I think I’m a cat!

Dad: “No son, you’re a boy! “

My son: “No dad some of my friends at school identify as cats, they call themselves furries, and so do I !! It’s my right and you can’t do anything about it!”

Dad: 🤔 “OK!! “

My son: “Hey, where’s my supper? “

Dad: “Your supper is in the catfood bowl in the corner. Now get off the table you mangy cat!”

My son: “What???”

Dad: hits him with a broom, “get off the table furball!!”

My son in the corner looking bewildered!

Me to my wife : “Is that cat neutered”??

My wife: “I will make an appointment!! “

My son: “What??? “ 😳

Dad: “Your mother and I have decided we don’t want a house cat, so get out to the barn and hunt mice!”

My son: “What???”

Dad: brandishes broom, “NOW, to the barn you stupid cat!!”

My son: “Dad, I think I’m a boy!”

Dad: “I thought so, now sit down and eat your supper!!”

Today was another nothing day.

I watched a movie called “Joy Ride” which was “ok”.

I discovered that Adoring Husband unplugged the small fridge and large freezer in my artspace (due to a power shorting problem) and forgot to plug them back in yesterday. The result being water damage to some art pieces, a wet rug and thawed food that had to be tossed or used immediately.

I lost my marbles and he spent the next couple of hours getting it all sorted.

We watched some more pre season nrl football.

Dinner was roast lamb and vegetables including pumpkin from our garden which was really delicious!

MAFS night!

Now it’s sleep time.
