Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Slower Day

I took it nice and slow today.

I stayed in bed until about 11.30am.

That time was spent being very productive though and I wrote out 4 pages of info to share in tomorrow’s art class and watched some instructional YouTube videos just to make sure my knowledge was up to date.

After that I did some washing, cooked some lunch and then gathered all the art supplies together that I needed to take to the shop.

Adoring Husband dropped Bubbles and I off at the shop so that we could set up the training room for the class.

The Motivator had already set up two of the tables so Bubbles and I set the other two tables up and found all the tools and resources for each place setting. At this stage, there will be 8 in attendance, including some newcomers! It should be a good class!

I spent some time catching up with TM and checking out some new stock and we returned home some time after 4pm.

AH cooked up a quick dinner for himself and Bubbles, while I made a smoothie - celery, cucumber, spinach, apple, carrot, mint and coconut water for my dinner. Of course I ended with a less healthy dessert of choc chip chocolate ice cream.

Only three more sleeps until Bubbles flies home so we need to make the most of that time. She will join the art class tomorrow and I’m not sure how we’ll spend Sunday yet.

It’s time for me to get some sleep so that I can be clear headed and arty farty tomorrow.

Nite all.

Feeling My Age!

Tuesday, after morning coffee with the girls, I returned home and cleared the art studio so that Bubbles and I could create some art. It took a while to clear, but eventually she decided to try the sky view beach scene so we did these ...

I was exhausted by the end of the day and in bed by about 8.30pm.

Wednesday was an early start and we drove to Childers for breakfast at Kape Central. I was hoping for GF waffles but they don’t make them anymore ☹️

Of course, when you’re in Childers, you simply MUST visit the shoe shop!

Adoring Husband very generously purchased these for me.

The Bird Sanctuary was our main headline for the day and we really enjoyed the fabulous interaction with the bird life. We fell in love with the black cockatoos and the different parrots that followed us around the grounds.

I got sucked in by what I thought was a solo brolga in a field. I very slowly worked my way towards it taking photos every few steps in case I frightened it away. When I got within about 20 feet away, I suddenly realised that it wasn’t real and when I walked up to it, discovered it was a statue set in a concrete block!

It was both embarrassing and hilarious! Those photos are still in camera.

It got very hot in the afternoon and although it was difficult to say goodbye to our new friends, we were heading home by 1.30pm, but we had to drive to Craignish to collect our FROG box on the way home.

By the time we arrived home, we were all worn out! Adoring Husband was so exhausted, he went to bed before 5.30pm.

Today, Bubbles and I had our day together in The Bay. We were going to have pedicures and manicures, but changed our minds and decided to get our hair done instead. We walked in to the salon in Pialba called Haircorp and asked for a shampoo, a treatment, a scalp massage and a blow dry.

They were quite busy but had 4 or 5 staff working so they squeezed us in.

My attendant’s name was Heidi and I loved her so much, I took her name and private number - she ran a holistic healing centre in Broome and Gold Coast and has her finger firmly on the pulse of everything regarding physical, emotional and mental healing. Our conversation was rapid fire and I felt a real connection with her.

I hope to invite her to The Happy Abode to run one of my health and wellness classes this year. She was fabulous!

I discovered my new favourite food place at the Su Jus Bar. Oh the healthful goodness of it all! The coffee superb, EVERYTHING GF, the bread to die for, the cakes divine. I am going to be their new best friend!

I did not buy shoes.

I got soap, nail polish, 2 books about crystals, a top and some canvases for the next art class.

Adoring Husband was shocked that I came home with only one bag!

I did bring home a selection of cakes from my new favourite food shop and we placed a candle in one of those cakes and sang happy birthday to me!

Now, once again, I am exhausted, so I’m off to bed.

Nite all.

Need a Holiday

I need a holiday to get over my holiday and I’ll need another holiday to get over Bubbles’s holiday!

After a solid two hours at Eumundi Markets on Saturday morning where I bought two necklaces, a ring and two tops we drove directly home and arrived at 2.30pm.

I immediately unpacked my entire suitcase, giving Bubbles a parade of my holiday purchases. I still haven’t done my washing from the holiday, but aside from that you wouldn’t even know that I’ve been away!

My first day at home was spent in bed til late morning and then ‘in’ and ‘around’ the pool with Adoring Husband and Bubbles. It was nice to be home again.

It was nice to sleep in my own bed. It was nice to sit in my comfortable lounge chair.

We had a great holiday and for me, it probably needed to be a couple of days longer because we didn’t get to IKEA which I was most looking forward to and I didn’t take my camera out once - if we’d made it to the zoo, I could have practiced my photography. Even our river cruise was washed out.

Having time away with AH was really special and we indulged in choc chip gelato in a GF cone every day! I think I only had one disappointing meal for the entire week, so our record of finding great food remains pretty much intact.

Today was a day spent in The Bay with Bubbles and AH.

At Bubbles’s request, Time Zone was our first port of call and we spent an hour and a lot of money playing mindless games there. Sometimes it was fun and funny. Sometimes it was disappointing.

We decided on Salt restaurant at Peppers resort for lunch. We all ate delicious healthy food. I selected the quinoa salad with pan fried prawns, AH chose seafood scallops and prawns while Bubbles had grilled fish, chips and garlic bread.

We all spent a couple of hours at Stocklands helping Bubbles choose some new work outfits. I found some new PJs at KMart and AH did some grocery shopping while he waited.

It was well after 4pm when we made our way home and I was feeling absolutely exhausted!

Bubbles and I played some Yahtzee and then made up a card game that we played until I conceded that bed was calling me.

I’m worn out!

Before I sign off, I’d like to mention that BGWLBH’s Mum, Margie, passed away last week. I’ve known Margie almost as long as I’ve known BGWLBH, so 30+ years of rarely seeing eye to eye and sharing some cheeky banter between us, but It was her time and she is in a better place.

RIP Margie W.

Biggest love and warmest hugs to BGWLBH. See you soon.

Nite all.
