Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Simple Sunday

I slept well and woke quite early for a Sunday.

Before I took Harley out to play, I packaged his chicken feet snacks and put them in the freezer and chopped a saucepan full of vegetables to make his meals for the next week.

While the vegetables were simmering, I took Harley out to play.

After play, I put on a load of washing and decided to make some cheesy pastries for a snack.

While they were in the oven, I mixed up all the goodies for Harleys meals - 3kgs raw mince, 2 raw eggs, hemp oil, best mate powdered mix, another mix for joint strength and the veggies (sweet potato, celery, carrot, beans, asparagus, zucchini, broccoli). It made ten meals.

Adoring Husband was busy defrosting the little freezer at the end of the kitchen bench and we decided to dedicate it to Harley’s food.

I got a 2nd load of washing on and sat down to watch the movie “Pitch Perfect” which I’d seen before but still enjoyed very much.

After Harley’s afternoon play, I started dinner. Quarter chicken marinated in apricot sauce, with garlic green beans and asparagus and I made some grated potato pockets filled with carrot, capsicum, red onion, chopped bacon, half a cherry tomato and sprinkled with grated cheese.

I didn’t eat dinner but the others enjoyed it.

No trivia tonight because we watched The Voice finale. I was so happy that my favourite, Reuben, won! I was certain that Skye was the planned winner to keep the ‘woke’ community happy.

Anyway, after 4 hours in the kitchen, I’m ready to sleep now.

It seems Google is not allowing me to add pics to this post. Bugger.

Nite all.
