Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Super Strength

I needed to use my super strength today because MORE clothes arrived in the mail and of course they needed steaming ... I’m OVER the steaming ðŸ˜Đ

I was kind of grateful that I ran out of coat hangers AND the space to display because that meant I could stop steaming ðŸĪŠ

The Brains Trust came for a visit, brought coffee and sat at my desk for a nice catch up.

My morning was very busy and again, the afternoon went very quiet, which is just the way I like it.

This gave me time to take photos of the new clothes and post them on Instagram and Facebook, advertise the three vacant places in the art class, send emails to possible participants and figure out which paint pouring technique to use in the class.

It was nice to come home, put my feet up this afternoon and lose myself in a new Netflix series “Firefly Lane”.

Friday night chicken wings cooked by Adoring Husband, the perfect way to end the week.

Now I’m in bed watching “The Notebook” and it’s probably the fifteenth time I’ve seen it, but it never gets old and I fall for Ryan Gosling all over again every time I watch it.

There are twenty minutes of the movie remaining so I shall sign off and have a good cry before I fall asleep.

Nite all.

Pace Myself

I had a very busy first hour of the day.

It’s when all of my sales for the day were made.

Everyone who walked in said to me “I’m only here to browse. Is that ok?”

I replied “Certainly! There’s plenty here to browse over!”

Every one of those people spent a generous sum of money.

Lady Lynn popped in for a visit to say her final goodbyes. There was a luncheon at the local club in hers and Happy Harry’s honour, which AH and I could not attend so it was lovely to have the opportunity to give her one more hug and give HH a kiss goodbye too.

The remainder of my day was spent steaming the clothes, filing, photocopying and mailing out phone purchases.

At 12.30pm I sat on my chair feeling very low on both mental and physical energy, so I decided to rest up until closing time.

My cleaner arrived at 1pm and I chatted with her while she dusted a section of the shop.

Adoring Husband arrived early because we had to attend an appointment with our financial adviser in The Bay so he pulled everything inside while I packed what needed to come home and paid the cleaner.

Before our appointment, we made a quick stop at Spotlight to stock up on some canvases for this weeks art class. It was a pleasant surprise to find them all on sale so I purchased 39 instead of the planned dozen.

We spent a pleasant 45 minutes with our adviser, signed some paperwork and decided that since we were close by, we should stop at Su Jus Bar for a green juice for me and a coffee for AH.

We saw The Garden Guru from a distance and so I followed my nose to where I believed The Brains Trust was. My instincts were correct and she led me to SHOES! We hugged and chatted while I paid for some shoes that I KNEW I needed from the second I saw them! Not stylish, but comfortable and the perfect height for wearing with my 7 pairs of bootleg and bell bottom hippie pants.

After that we drove to Stocklands because I needed some coat hangers for trousers for the shop. I also scored a $6 pr of cotton pyjama bottoms from Kmart and two white tops from Jeans West.

Our birdie is growing fast ...

With good planning and teamwork between AH and myself, we arrived home to the welcoming aroma of lamb shanks in the slow cooker.

I put half of the cooked mushrooms and veggies from the pot into the blender with some of the liquid and ended up with a thick smooth gravy for the shanks and the meat was falling off the bones as I served up. A quick, delicious and nutritious meal.

AH has fallen asleep in bed beside me and I’m ready for sleep too. Three people have already withdrawn from my art class on Saturday (all newbies) so I’ll have to do some heavy duty recruiting tomorrow!

Nite all.

Finish with a Flourish

It was a strange kind of day.

Very slow in sales until 15 minutes before closing and I finished with such a flourish, it was astounding!

Meditation was awesome, as always.

I paid bills, filed paperwork, steamed clothes, spoke to reps, made tea, prepared lunch, checked emails and tried to figure out what Lorraine Lea products I want for half price!

Adoring Husband and I set up the tables for art class on Saturday. He brought in a drop sheet to protect the carpet - because it’s almost beyond help now!

I still haven’t decided what we’re going to create in art but it’ll all fall into place on the day.

These are some of the clothes that came in on Monday ...

Oh and I forgot to take my daily pic of the baby bird! Must do that tomorrow!

A couple more pics of my beautiful girls at the wedding ...

Now I must sleep.

Nite all.

Unexpectedly Crazy

Being the first sales day of February, which is traditionally ghostly quiet, my sales were crazy today!

The shop was consistently full of customers until midday and at one point I had a dozen women roaming about.

This was even more surprising because there are so few people in the caravan parks at the moment.

Here are the photos of the newly rearranged arts and crafts area ...

I had a little time with my girls for coffee before the rush started.

There was only enough time to steam one of the new dresses from yesterday’s arrivals.

I created today’s journaling lesson but because we’ve had long breaks between classes, I chose instead to review what we’ve done previously and to finish completing some of the questionnaires issued last year. It was an excellent way to fill today’s 90 minutes.

After the class, Adoring Husband and I cleared the room and set up for meditation in the morning.

Here is the first beautiful photo of Vegan Chickie and Mr Perfect from their wedding yesterday ...

I’m feeling quite weary tonight so I think it’s sleep time for me.

Oh and here is a photo of our baby bird’s growth progress ...

Oh AND one of my fave art girls/customer/friends took this photo of a water spout just off the beach in Burrum Heads this afternoon ðŸ˜ģ

Nite all.

Monday Funday

I did get to sleep in this morning and then laze in bed for a while before getting my act together and starting the day with some vim and vigour.

My aim was to keep busy and fill the time leading up to Vegan Chickie’s wedding.

This in turn prevented me from dwelling on the fact that I was missing the big family affair ☹️

So Adoring Husband and I drove to the shop to set up for morning coffee with the girls and the journaling class in the afternoon.

We then pulled apart the art and craft area and rearranged it into a more welcoming configuration. AH also screwed some panels of hooks onto the wall where I can hang the macrame art. We still haven’t put together the glass cabinets but I hope to do that during the week.

I’ll take photos tomorrow.

Aggie and Number 2 Husband arrived at 11am and he changed the starters in one of the flouorescent light panels in the main shop area. He had much steadier climbing legs than either AH or I!

AH collected the mail and some new lady’s fashion items arrived which are now waiting for me to steam and price tomorrow.

We arrived home in time to make some late lunch and watch a bit of telly before dressing up for our ZOOM date for the wedding.

I have no photos yet of the wedding but a couple of pre-wedding pics ...

It was a very short and very sweet ceremony. Everybody looked so happy and I got to have a short chat in ZOOM with Mr Perfect’s relatives in the UK. Tonight, Vegan Chickie FaceTimed me and I got to chat with Granny Liz and the remaining guests which was lovely. Everybody is very happy 😊

I’ve been taking the Valerian Forte tablets for about 5 days now and I have definitely slept more soundly - except for one night - and I realise I forgot to take the VF that night! I wake up clear headed too, so my brain works immediately and doesn’t feel fuzzy. So far, I would recommend it if you’re not a sound sleeper.

Our baby bird is slowly growing up ...

Sleep time for me now.

Nite all.

Pyjama Day

My perfect Sunday.

I made my own breakfast and returned to bed with it.

That’s where I stayed all day.

I watched make-up tutorials on YouTube.

I meditated.

I facebooked.

I joined a new social media site called GAB - one that doesn’t censor and respects everyone’s right to freedom of speech.

I checked my emails.

I shopped online - lipstick and bras.

I got out of bed to cook Salmon steaks for dinner and prepare a salad.

I watched the final of I’m a Celebrity and immediately returned to bed.

The perfect Sunday.

Nite all.
