Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Teaser

We have a couple of resident magpies … well it feels like they reside here … they sit on the roof of the loft of my back neighbours house and sing their beautiful song every day a few times each day.

BGWLBH feeds them every day and when it rains, one of them seeks shelter under our carport. It is very talented and talks, barks, whistles, sings, warbles and generally entertains us through the family room window.

Well it seems that they are now used to the newest member of our family and one in particular kept flying around the back yard and landing just high enough to be out of Harley’s reach but low enough that Harley had high hopes and expectations of catching it.

Harley was running around the back yard following the magpie and barking his head off!

To curb some of Harley’s energy today, I took him into the pool and had him swim 8 short laps across the pool. I don’t think he’s a big fan of the pool but he’s a strong swimmer and once he was done, he felt it necessary to roll around in dirt and dead leaves!

After the swim he and I played fetch for about 20 minutes and I think I well and truly wore him out. It’s 8.30pm and he is sound asleep in his pen as I type this.

No art today.

Peking duck with mash and greens for dinner followed by apple and rhubarb crumble with home made paleo custard which was bloody nice!

I can’t believe how tired I feel right now. Must be sleep time for me too.

Walkies

This first part - I am on my soap box - so skip past if you don’t want to know.

“SMART” is the new word for “CONTROL”

‘Smart City’ programs are being rolled out across the country.

Invasive technology like facial recognition cameras, license plate readers, smart lights, smart poles, smart cars, smart neighbourhoods, smart homes, smart phones and smart appliances all connected to wireless networks and communicating with each other.

Your streets are spying on you. Your homes are spying on you. Your mobile phones are spying on you. Your cities are spying on you and the infrastructure for future lockdowns is being put into place right now.

You’re being set up to be tracked through your movements and through the future of your digital wallets.

By handing over your data, you’re handing over the ability to monitor your behaviour which will soon be turned into a social credit score and once the Central Bank Digital Currencies are in place, you won’t get to spend any of your money without approval.

Digital IDs are already being rolled out in countries like Canada and Scotland and are planned globally.

Eventually, you won’t be able to access any government or public service, you won’t able to travel across borders or access health care or the internet without a digital ID.

The last two years were a dress rehearsal - Covid lockdowns and mandatory vaccinations - Australia was the most compliant country in the world and we are sleepwalking into the technocratic future and while we sit around scratching our chins trying to work out if this is really happening, we are drifting into a dystopian future.

If you read all of that, I thank you 🙏

At 6.30am I was lured to the pool by the tepid water and after the storms last night, the air and the sky were clear and fresh.

I took my sound bar with me and listened to ‘chill’ music which was very relaxing.

I swam some laps, floated for a while, did some stretching exercises and then sat on the step with a lovely cup of tea that Adoring Husband made for me. It was around 8am when I found my way back inside.

Harley was very well behaved today and at 4.30pm I decided to take him for his second walk on the leash.

We only walked for 15 minutes because with Border Collie pups, their bones, shoulders and hips are still developing and if they are overworked, it can cause issues down the track. I was advised ‘5 minutes exercise per 4 weeks of age’. Harley is almost 11 weeks old so I figured 15 minutes would work.

I am training him to walk beside me without pulling on the lead and for the most part he was very good.

He wanted to chase a car - he responded well to my command.

He was frightened by a screeching plover but the fear subsided quickly.

He met a neighbour, Buddy the black miniature poodle, who was a bit too forward but Harley was more excited to meet Harley’s owner.

It was only during the last 2 minutes of the walk that he was difficult to control but by then he was thirsty and worn out.

When we got home, he had a big drink and plonked himself onto the cold tiles where he slept soundly for about 90 minutes!

Because of this, his ‘witching hour’ started a bit later than usual and I decided to lead him to bed at 7.30pm before he got himself too worked up. It took him about ten minutes to settle but he’s well and truly out to it now.

Harley has found his voice and if he doesn’t agree with my discipline (which is just a gruff voice saying “Haa”) he will tell me! He has his own way of saying “Haa” back at me!

I spent some time in my art space but instead of sketching my realistic mouth as planned, I was distracted by a video interview with

  1. A pharmacist in Darwin talking about the increase in heart conditions, strokes and shingles this year.
  2. A Catholic priest from Perth talking about his 360 parishioners, over 100 of whom have serious vaccine injuries but they are too afraid to tell anyone for fear of being labelled “antivaxers” - they will only speak about it in confession! A good majority of them are even too afraid to speak to their doctors!
  3. A psychologist from Melbourne who’s practice is fully booked with clients who have been rejected by friends and family because of their vaccination status and who will spend their third Christmas isolated because they are not allowed to enter family homes without being vaccinated. The mental health issues are out of control.
  4. A funeral director in Sydney who has had to hire extra staff because they are so busy and it’s not due to Covid deaths.
What is wrong with this world?

What is wrong with people?

I’ve certainly learnt the hard way who my people are and I’ve had to do some heavy duty healing this year.

2023 will be telling.

Anyway, our not so psychotic dog Colli, is struggling at the moment and we are preparing ourselves for the worst while hoping for the best.

*sigh*

Time for me to sleep.

In Training

I’ve started watching Cesar Millan, the dog whisperer, series.

There are two seasons of him training humans on how to be the leader of their pack.

He is fantastic and after three shows I have learnt a lot, as has Harley, because of what I’ve learned.

It’s very tricky with two other adults in the house, each with their own ideas, so all I can do is be consistent with Harley so that he knows exactly what I expect from him. He’s very clever, even for a ten week old puppy, so he is learning fast.

Tonight I figured out how to put a stop to the ‘witching hour’ (without Cesar’s help) by putting away all of Harley’s toys out of his sight.

He was working himself into a frenzy trying to play with all of his toys, running around the house and tossing toys in the air and chasing them. He never tired of it and just wouldn't stop until I put him to bed.

I packed all of his toys into the box and put the box in another room - within ten minutes he had settled into an exhausted sleep at my feet!

Who knew!?

Today, I also learnt how to draw a realistic eye.

There is still plenty of room for improvement but I like my first effort.

Tomorrow I’ll have a go at a realistic mouth.

I didn’t swim today but BGWLBH went in a few times.

We all played Sequence after lunch (which was a grazing platter) and then we waited for the forecasted storms to arrive.

As usual, they split in half and went around us so we barely got a light shower, unlike Maryborough, Gympie and a few other places that received large hail and some damage.

It’s now just after 8pm and I’m ready for bed.

Introductions

Excess deaths in Australia

After Harley slept for many hours during the day yesterday and after a warning from BGWLBH that he wouldn’t sleep during the night, I had a very restless night waiting for him to wake and want to get up.

Of course he slept soundly for 9 hours and I was left feeling tired and run down.

Ugh 😩

I shall listen to my own instincts from now on.

This morning we drove to the Lions Park for our weekly catch up with the art/meditation girls. There were two of the usual missing but we took Harley along with us.

The council workers who are currently upgrading the path in the park all noticed Harley and stopped to meet him and have a cuddle. Two of those workers own Border Collies themselves so they were particularly besotted.

Harley was very well behaved saying hello and then lying quietly at my feet for a whole 90 minutes. BGWLBH gave him a couple of drinks of water and I gave him a biscuit snack so he was perfectly happy.

When we arrived home, BGWLBH and I changed into our bathers/togs and went straight to the pool for a swim. The water was lovely and I swam a dozen laps and floated around for about 15 minutes.

I raised my head to discover that BGWLBH had disappeared inside so I climbed out and sat under the Bali hut for about 20 minutes until I’d dried off somewhat.

Adoring Husband had arrived home from collecting the FROG box and I decided to use last nights leftover mash to make tuna patties for lunch. I served them with chilli mango relish and they were delicious.

BGWLBH was suffering from a headache so she returned to bed straight after lunch.

I watched some more of my Portrait Artist shows, my quiz shows and prepared dinner of spicy chicken and vegetable tortillas with tzatziki. Also delicious.

After dinner, I spent an hour with Harley while he tore around like a crazy animal. The ‘witching hour’ seems to have increased to the ‘witching 90 minutes’ lately!

He spent some time jumping in and out of his box of toys. He may have been a cat in a previous life!

The only way to calm him down was to lead him to bed. As soon as he reached his sleeping pen, he knew it was time to settle and thank goodness, within 15 minutes he was sound asleep.

Positively exhausting!

After he fell asleep I taught myself how to sketch facial features.

I figure that if I want to do portraits, I’d best start with the basics. I need to practice a LOT!

Now I should sleep.

Perfect Day

Harley slept from 8.30pm - 5am so I had a wonderful night of uninterrupted slumber. A great start to the day!

After breakfast, it was swimming time and even though the water was a little on the chilly side, I eased my way in and swam a dozen laps and floated in the warm sunshine before climbing out and sharing some fresh watermelon with BGWLBH.

I lay down on the outdoor lounge and dozed to the sound of wind chimes and rustling Bali grass.

BGWLBH invited me to join her in the art space where she created some beautiful art which I am not permitted to share here BUT I can share mine.

It’s pretty basic and unexciting but my first effort with pastel pieces. I’m sure I’ll improve over time, if I practice enough.

I watched some Portrait Artist of the Year shows as well as my quiz shows.

Dinner was bangers and mash with beans and carrots and home made onion gravy.

Harley was pretty good and slept a lot today. When he was awake he was happily chewing on big bones or playing with his toys so no damage or mischief to report … for a change!

Best get some sleep while he is asleep!

What’s New?

Harley made friends with a BIG FAT UGLY TOAD and I believe it’s that friendship that has caused the diarrhoea and a little vomiting over the last 3 days and nights.

*sigh*

So the toad is gone.

I expect it will be another restless night with many toilet breaks tonight, but hopefully things will settle after that.

Last night we (Harley and I) were up every 30 minutes from 11pm until 2.30am but then he slept soundly until 6am which was a blessing for me because I don’t think I could have done another day without a block of decent sleep.

Today, not so psychotic dog, Colli, has had uncontrollable diarrhoea so there have been many messes to clean up and a discussion about how much longer she might have with us. Her eating habits are erratic which makes it difficult to give her the heart medication, she struggles to climb up and down the step to get in and out of the house, and her arthritis is causing her grief.

She’s not a fan of Harley - although she does like to steal his food, which apparently, is much more tasty than her own.

This morning, I found the energy to drive into The Bay with BGWLBH to check off a very long ‘to do’ list. We visited Spotlight, Newsagent, QBD book store, KMart, Priceline, the new shoe shop in Stocklands, the bank, Heaps Discount, Bakery, Nana’s Pantry, Choice, Coles, Su Jus Cafe and a butcher.

I was able to find some paper to practice pastel drawings and Adoring Husband has ordered a set of very good quality pastel pencils and 120 half pastel sticks which will hopefully arrive before Christmas.

This afternoon I attempted a short nap on the couch until Harley decided it was energy overload time and I needed to pay him some attention.

Dinner was easy chicken wings with a salad and a fruit platter..

Now I’m feeling weary and I need to get as much sleep as possible before the nightly dramas begin with Harley.

Wiped Out

Covid-19 Vaccine Surveillance Report UK (This was published a year ago and still nothing mentioned in mainstream media)

The UK government admits that vaccines have damaged the natural immune system of those who have been double-vaccinated. The UK government has admitted that once you have been double-vaccinated, you will never again be able to acquire full natural immunity to Covid variants - or possibly any other virus.

In its Week 42 "COVID-19 Vaccine Surveillance Report", the UK Department of Health admits on page 23 that "N antibody levels appear to be lower in people who become infected after two doses of vaccination".

It goes on to say that this drop in antibodies is essentially permanent. What does this mean? We know that vaccines do not prevent infection or transmission of the virus (indeed, the report elsewhere shows that vaccinated adults are now much more likely to be infected than unvaccinated ones).

The British now find that the vaccine interferes with the body's ability to make antibodies after infection not only against the spike protein but also against other parts of the virus. In particular, vaccinated people do not appear to form antibodies against the nucleocapsid protein, the envelope of the virus, which is a crucial part of the response in unvaccinated people.

In the long term, the vaccinated are far more susceptible to any mutations in the spike protein, even if they have already been infected and cured once or more.

The unvaccinated, on the other hand, will gain lasting, if not permanent, immunity to all strains of the virus after being naturally infected with it even once. Source: click on the link at the top of this page.

No surprises there.

Well Harley and I had a very rough time last night.

From 11pm every 45 minutes or so, he asked to be taken outside where he practiced some very uncomfortable toileting skills.

  • 11pm
  • 11.45pm
  • 12.30am
  • 1.10am
  • 2.10am
  • 3am
Somewhere between 3am and 4.30am he gave up asking and just did it in his pen so I had an unpleasant surprise that hit my nostrils first when I awoke.

Ah the joys of puppy parenthood.

At midday, it felt like 4pm for me so I conceded defeat and went to bed. Unfortunately I only slept for 30 minutes and then dozed on and off for the next 90 minutes so I didn’t feel very rested when I got up to cook dinner.

Roast pork with home made apple sauce, gravy and lots of baked vegetables and a side of beans and snow peas. Very nutritious and healthful.

It’s now 9pm and Harley is sound asleep in his clean pen.

I’m not feeling as weary now as I did earlier. I must have my second wind!

I might listen to some meditations before I sleep.

Harley’s only naughty thing today was climbing into one of the raised garden beds and digging a hole. No damage done.

BGWLBH did some great arty things things today. Very detailed and intricate work in beautiful colours. I’ll take a pic tomorrow.

I was less inspired and too tired to find any motivation so I did three loads of washing.

Not sure what our plans are for tomorrow. We’ll play it by ear.
