Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Winning!

We went on a toilet paper hunt early this morning.

By ‘early’, I mean that we were at the first supermarket by 9am.

We needed to buy in bulk for the public toilets (which are supposed to be for the shop workers and not actually the public), but replacing a minimum 4 rolls every day means we need a LOT.

Not a roll to be seen.

Next stop HBW.

Not a roll to be seen.

But they pointed us in the direction of G D Products who are suppliers for hospitality, catering and cleaning where we were able to purchase 1 (only) packet of 48 rolls.

Whew!

We drove to Go Natural and bought some organic vegetables, coconut water and chicken feet among other things and then we scuttled home.

Two hours.

That was the most eventful part of our day.

The remainder of the day was filled with eating and Grey’s Anatomy.

I started my octopus painting on Thursday and it’s obviously a work in progress, but let’s keep an eye on the progress and I’ll put pics up every time I add some more. No judgements until it’s finished!

Now I’m yawning and it’s not even 9.30pm yet!

Nite all.

Light and Fluffy

It was a fun few minutes this morning when our husbands drove us, in convoy fashion, past Beauty’s house. We had balloons and signs and party hats, tooted the car horns and sang happy birthday to help celebrate her special day during this time of social distancing and isolation.

Short but very sweet.

And to keep this post light and fluffy, here are three videos 1. Some cute baby animals

2. Some monkey magic

And 3. The the cutest of all

I had a FaceTime call with The Motivator which topped off quite a socially distant day really!

We are going on a toilet paper hunt early in the morning so it’s time for me to sleep.

Nite all.

Man of Interest

I met a man.

Well, not face to face, but on the web.

We haven’t actually had ANY interaction but through videos, his website, his live feeds and his interviews, I’ve come to know his credentials, his belief systems, his passions and his goals for the future.

He is a genius.

He is the man who invented email.

He has been working in the fields of science, engineering, electronics and technology for about 40 yrs.

He has won numerous industry awards, been featured in numerous network media, magazine and newspaper articles, has both lectured and been the key speaker at numerous industry events, has written numerous books and invited to write chapters in other journals and books, won a Fulbright scholarship and spent two years studying the differences between mainstream western medicine and Ayurvedic (one of the oldest holistic “whole body” healing systems developed in India 3000 yrs ago) healing just to mention a few.

You can read his 20 page CV here

So he has always been a highly regarded and highly sought after man in his field until ...

He began speaking the truth about how some media, science and governments are corrupt and controlled by “money” and where that money is coming from. How Bill Gates, Mark Zuckerberg, the Clintons all discovered that the fastest way to increase their already massive fortunes was to “invest” in the pharmaceutical industry, in particular, vaccinations.

He is running as an independent for US Senate in the Nov 6 elections so his voice is being heard much further afield.

So much more.

Of course now that he’s spoken up about the “powers that be”, the media have labelled him a quack - as they do about anyone that moves against conformity and the mainstream ideals.

He has friends in high places, is articulate and has a lot to say about Covid19 and the current global situation which he is sharing with anyone who cares to listen.

I care to listen.

I just did a little research on Italy’s health system and seasonal flu statistics. You can follow along here

In Italy, during the 2016/2017 flu season (Winter) 24,981 people died of seasonal flu.

In Italy, 21,067 people have died of Covid 19. The first recorded death there was 31st January - 2 Chinese tourists in Rome were diagnosed, followed by an Italian man who had just returned from Wuhan.

Italy’s public health care system is corrupt and mismanaged. The waiting list is long and people are getting sicker waiting for Doctor and specialist appointments - therefore leaving them vulnerable to viruses like flu or Covid 19.

That is the reason they stand out in this current pandemic.

USA is similar in that health care is so expensive that people in the lower socioeconomic community can’t afford the care or the medications, so they will die from both lack of medical intervention AND because their financial situation reduces their access to healthy food and the education to learn about nutrition, therefore their immunity is low.

Australia really is a lucky country because we are an island that can easily close its borders to the rest of the world, we have one of the best health care systems in the world and there is space to distance ourselves.

However we are not immune to corruption and fear mongering.

There is more to know and understand regarding Covid 19 if we care to search, look and listen.

That is all I have to say about that for now.

Wishing Beauty a very happy birthday for Thursday 🥳🌻

5 Things

Five things for which I’m grateful today:

  1. Morning breathing exercises to free my mind.
  2. Seeing the beautiful smiling face of my friend in the flesh - brief though it was AND without the usual warm hug.
  3. Fresh sweet juicy pineapple.
  4. Regular pics from Vegan Chickie sharing her family life during self isolation.
  5. Some new ideas for some art to try - even though I didn’t get to do it today.
I watched some YouTube videos to get some ideas for art and I really love one of the octopus paintings and a beachy flip cup pour so they’ll be my first attempts this week.

The octopus is by artist Ashley Kreiger from USA. She travels with her family around US finding inspiration for her art and she has a few different styles that she teaches via YouTube.

The other one is by a lady from the Sunshine Coast, Julie Cutts, who has a YouTube channel and runs workshops at her home in the mountains. I was hoping to participate in one of her workshops when Adoring Husband and I were on our holiday, but the only one she had running was on the day we left.

I’ll aim for Thursday to attempt these paintings.

I’ve also decided that once a week I’m going online to buy something hand made (in Australia). It’s my way of helping to support creative Aussies during this stupid pandemic, especially since the markets can’t operate.

Melissa Shipway on the Sunshine Coast was my first choice. Her website Bombtrinkety is here

I’ll put most of my purchases away for birthday and Christmas gifts.

It’s almost 11pm so I think I’ll head off to bed.

Too Cool

The water was way too cool for swimming today.

It’s been over a year since it was done, so I decided to start clearing out the pantry. One purple garbage bag later, two and a half shelves were cleared, culled, cleaned and restocked.

I could have pushed myself to finish the entire pantry, but I didn’t feel like it - simple as that 😬

So I stopped and watched some more Grey’s Anatomy.

I found this. It was created by Leonie Dawson, whose yearly planners I bought for three years.

It’s now been three weeks of isolation and I’m beginning to miss my social routine, so that means, sometimes I’m going to feel like poo 💩 and I’m sure I’m not the only one!

So I made another list of things I can do to cheer myself up or ease that ‘poo’ feeling.

  • Go outside in the sunshine
  • Write letters to my family
  • Watch a sunrise or sunset
  • Listen to music
  • Read my favourite book
  • Use my essential oils
  • Watch comedies

Some other things to Do when I’m not feeling so ‘poo-like’

  • Create a jar to fill with gratitude notes
  • Create a time capsule of “time in quarantine” in a box
  • Have a candle lit dinner
  • Stick positive affirmations around the mirror
  • Take a tour using google maps
  • Make fermented vegetables
  • Write a bucket list
My old photography group had a 2 hour challenge this morning. The teacher set the theme of ‘PLASTIC’ at 10am which gave us til midday to complete it. Problem for me was that I didn’t see the challenge until 11.40am.

I posted this at 12.01pm and therefore was not in the running.

He’s going to have these challenges on a regular basis during our time of isolation, so that will be a nice distraction.

Time to watch one more episode of Grey’s before going to bed.

Nite all.

A Giggle

Let’s start this post with a giggle ... Sarah Millican is always good for that!

Let’s follow that with some education and learn some Spanish ...

  • The Spanish word for ‘bread’ is PAN
  • The Spanish word for ‘beach’ is PLAYA
  • The Spanish word for ‘swimming pool’ is PISCINA
  • The Spanish word for ‘dog’ is PERRO
So ...
“walk your dog on the beach” becomes “pasear a su perro en la playa” and
“eat some bread by the pool” becomes “comer pan junto a la piscina”

If you change the “ate” at the end of our English words to “ar”, it becomes Spanish. For example:

  • celebrate becomes celebrar
  • activate becomes activar
  • calculate becomes calcular
  • create becomes crear
  • operate becomes operar
That’s your mini Spanish lesson for the day. I’m not sure why I chose Spanish, but there you go ... you learn something new every day!

I had a most pleasant day today and changed it up a bit by spending a couple of hours here ...

The water was 25°C which is way too cold for Adoring Husband but he came outside in the fresh air to read under the Bali hut while I swam and stretched and exercised and soaked up that beautiful sunshine ☀️

Afterwards, I did this ...

Cucumber, celery, spinach, apple, mint, coconut water, filtered water, tonic water and 6 drops of zinc.

THEN it was back to Grey’s Anatomy!

Hainan Chicken for dinner.
