Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Where Is It???

It’s been a day!

I think I made up for yesterday’s hibernation.

Harley got play time.

I chopped a saucepan full of vegetables to prepare Harley’s meals for 12 days.

I stripped my bed, spun my mattress (king sized, deep mattress sitting inside a bed frame) by myself. It was a tough job that took me quite some time, but I did it!

Washed the bedding and hung it out.

Sorted through and packed the stuff I’m selling at the markets tomorrow.

Took all the snap button trays out and filled them.

Packed Harley’s meals and put them in the freezer.

Decorated the Christmas tree.

Made the marinade for the chicken.

Searched for my ‘square reader’ which seems to have disappeared off the planet. I’ve turned this house upside down and inside out to no avail. Absolutely no idea and after 4 hours of searching, I give up.

There is nowhere else to look!

Ugh!

I remade my bed. Far out, it’s a big job for a little old lady like me.

Adoring Husband drove into The Bay to run some errands this morning, and this afternoon, he packed the car with all of our paraphernalia for the markets.

It’s going to be a hot day.

I need to be up and ready before 5.30am so I’d best get some sleep now!

All Mine

A day in bed.

A day of rest.

A day of hibernation.

A day to reboot.

A day for me.

Smooth As

For all that had to be done today, it all went pretty smoothly.

We arrived in town much earlier than expected, so we found the Spotted Goat and purchased some take away coffees.

At the Smash Repairs place we ordered a taxi thinking it would take around 20 minutes to arrive, but it pulled into the driveway 2 minutes later!

According to the insurance company, the smash repair place was supposed to issue taxi vouchers to get us to the car hire place, but they did NOT! It cost $25 for the trip.

It was a brand new taxi. Very comfortable, smooth ride and a lovely driver.

At the car hire place, it all went smoothly and within 15 minutes we were sitting in the hire car - also very new, very comfortable and very low to the ground!

We took ten minutes to figure out where everything was in the car, what all the buttons were for and to adjust the seats to suit our sizes.

It was getting close to 10.30am and we had a few things on our ‘to do’ list and we had to collect the FROG  box on the way home.

It was good to get home reasonably early because we were both feeling pretty buggered.

Rissoles with spicy dipping sauce, mash, broccolini and asparagus in garlic butter for dinner.

Now it’s 10pm and I’m off to bed.

Say Hello

Say hello to my little friend …

There has been a noticeable and significant drop in toad numbers this year. So it was a very pleasant surprise to find this guy in our outdoor area tonight. It’s been a few years since there was room for green frogs in our garden so I’m happy.

I had a great meditation class this morning, with a couple of newbies in attendance and one of those newbies stayed on for Qi Gong afterwards.

The Gypsy and I sat outside chatting for 2.5 hours afterwards. It’s crazy how easily we can kill hours with our philosophical discussions. Even when we plan on short chats and set time limits, we always go over the limits - today was one of those days and we went 70 minutes over time!

It was 2pm when I returned home.

At 3pm I was struggling to keep my eyes open. All those deep conversations took it out of me!

Nachos for BGWLBH. Chicken and salad for Adoring Husband. Lychees for me.

Finally! BGWLBH’s car is going in for repairs tomorrow morning. It has been 9 weeks since our dingleberry and it will take two weeks to repair.

That means I need to get some sleep. We have an early start tomorrow.

House Hunting

We drove to Childers and stopped at a cafe where I had a melon frappe and BGWLBH had a coffee. We were so early, that, with time to kill, we walked to the shoe shop to browse.

No shoes took my fancy, but I did like a leather handbag which is the same brand as my current arm candy. It was so similar to the one I use most often, I couldn’t justify spending the very high price, so it remains on the shelf looking pretty.

From there, we headed to Cordalba to look at a house.

The photos of this house, on the website, are from three years ago when it was almost new and in pristine condition. The gardens were newly landscaped and neatly manicured. The inside of the home was light and bright, clean and fresh. All the little areas outside had a specific purpose, were well maintained and provided lovely surprises as you rounded the corners.

The current reality of this house is on the opposite end of the spectrum.

While the front garden is still looking presentable, the rest is overgrown, untidy, dirty and without purpose.

The double carport has a big shipping container filling half of it and the rest of it is filled with tools, rubbish, smelly oil stains and bits and pieces.

The fence looks freshly broken with about ten palings laying scattered on the ground.

Inside the house is dark, gloomy, dirty, untidy and smelly. There were six dogs inside and obviously spending a LOT of time in the main bedroom which wreaked of dog pee and poop.

There were broken tiles on the floor, no town water, a septic system, two large corrugated iron water tanks and all those lovely little areas could hardly even be defined anymore.

It needs a lot of TLC to bring it back to its original beauty and glory.

Its price tag needs to be reduced by about $80,000.

The real estate agent seemed to be embarrassed by its condition and implied that it had deteriorated over the last month.

Needless to say, our interest has waned considerably.

Feeling deflated, we returned to Childers, shopped in the cheap shop and the lady’s clothing boutique where I found a gorgeous top - which I gave to Adoring Husband to wrap for my Christmas gift. So I’ve purchased a beautiful ring and this top for him to give me for Christmas haha.

We were going to detour through Buxton to look at other houses, but the weather was so hot and uncomfortable, we decided to drive directly home.

While we were gone, the new pool guy came to our house and fixed our mould/algae problem! Even though we can’t swim in it for at least a week, it already looks as good as new and I feel very happy with the results!

Now it’s time for me to sleep. Meditation and Qi Gong tomorrow.

Sunday Bingeing

Today, I binge watched the UK version of MAFS for about 4 or 5 hours.

Total trash.

I love it!

Dinner was tuna bake with salad.

That’s it.

Tomorrow, BGWLBH and I are off to look at houses while Adoring Husband stays home to wait for the new pool guy. In a week, our pool water has turned almost completely green and we desperately need him to fix it.

We are in the middle of a heat wave and can’t even use our pool!

That’s it for my Sunday … I can hear a helicopter flying above us as I write this.
