We woke to the news of Queen Elizabeth’s passing overnight. She was 96 yrs old which is an excellent innings and everybody knew the end was nigh, yet the world mourns when they should be celebrating a life fully lived.
The next week will be filled with everything ‘Elizabeth’ - all the usual programs have been replaced with Royal stories and I for one am already over it. No offence to any royalist out there. I’m sure you’re soaking it all up and enjoying the reminiscing.
May she Rest In Peace.
As expected, we had a big day in The Bay.
We left here well before 7.30am expecting to breakfast at Dan And Steph’s but there was a triathlon in progress and the Esplanade was closed from Bideford Street through to William Street, which is a good 3-4kms and certainly hindered our attempts for breakfast.
So we opted for Salt cafe instead. The eggs were a touch overdone and the bacon was crispy - not how I like it but it filled our empty bellies. We took our time because we had two hours to kill until our nail appointment.
Because of the triathlon, to visit Banana Bender (a ladies clothing store) and Go Girl, we had to park a fair distance away and walk. This filled some more time until our appointment and we both made purchases.
Even though our appointments were for 10am, the girl wasn’t ready to do my pedicure until about 10.15am. BGWLBH was getting infills and was seated straight away.
This salon had rave reviews but I wasn’t impressed. A pedicure spa involves a foot and lower leg massage but I felt like that part of the service was a horrible chore for them and it was short and lacklustre. They used hot rocks but very soft hands and I was left wanting more.
They didn’t have a large selection of nail polish so the blue I was hoping for wasn’t on their shelves and I chose a different shade. It’s acceptable … just. I think, from now on, I shall take my own nail polish.
The appointment took much longer than any of the other salons that we’ve attended previously and our results were of a lower quality.
From there we made our way to Stocklands where we purchased our lotto tickets, BGWLBH visited her bank, I browsed through Robins Kitchen and we poked our heads into almost every shop. I found some beautiful tops but they were too long for my short body. Jewellery was purchased (not by me) and we considered handbags, coffee mugs, bras, books, candles and clothing from every store.
We grocery shopped, sat for coffee and visited the bakery.
The Bay was VERY busy, the traffic was slow, banked up and crazy and we must have got every red light possible! It seemed to take forever to get anywhere and then another length of forever to find a park! Even though we started to leave town at 3pm, it was 4.30pm by the time we arrived home!
We were exhausted!
Thankfully, Adoring Husband had put dinner in the oven - the usual spicy chicken wings - so we unpacked our shopping and got changed. Dinner was served at 5.30-ish.
We played trivia for less than 30 minutes and BGWLBH retired to her room. I napped on the couch waiting for the football to start. It was a tough game.
It’s late now.
Nite all.
