Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Peopled Out

Today was a hibernation day.

My intention was to accompany Adoring Husband into The Bay this morning while he was taking psychotic dog Colli in for grooming. At the last minute I changed my mind because I couldn’t stand the thought of the traffic and the people and the busyness and the craziness of pre-Christmas holiday makers.

I am peopled out and I needed to spend the day hibernating from the world.

Unfortunately, while grooming Colli, the groomer found a large abscess on her face from an infection in her mouth caused by rotten teeth. Luckily, the groomer is situated right beside a vet, so they were able to get her in immediately.

Colli is now on antibiotics and is booked in on Monday to have one, possibly two teeth surgically removed.

That’s going to cost a pretty penny!

She has not and is still not behaving like a sick dog! She is perfectly happy, but AH is a little stressed.

I have to add that I would love to have partaken in some emotional eating today, but the best I could come up with was blending a mango and banana with some coconut ice cream. What resulted was two delicious smoothies that AH and I enjoyed together.

I’m working tomorrow, so it’s time for me to sleep now.

Here is our Christmas tree complete with all of our gifts to ourselves ...

There are still some gifts to arrive in the mail, hopefully on Monday.

Have a happy Sunday!

Nite all.

Friday with a Flourish

My day began with low energy and a few uneasy feelings that I couldn’t explain and they didn’t feel very nice at all.

So I stayed in bed until about 10.30am which is when I heard the pool calling to me.

The water was chillier than I expected, so I knew that Adoring Husband wouldn’t be joining me. I swam some laps, floated, did lots of exercises to the music, sat in the sun for ten minutes and then sat in the Bali hut for a while.

I took a phone call from my favourite Aunty because she had just received my calendar which I sent to her for Christmas. She’s fabulous and was gushing over my photography.

Eventually, I headed inside to shower and make myself presentable for a video, which The Motivator and I were going to make in the shop, to wish our customers a Merry Christmas and Happy New Year.

By the time I arrived at the shop, TM finished serving customers and we fixed the stoopid Square Reader again, neither of us was really in the mood for making videos, so we’ve delayed it for a day or two.

AH and I both attended the club tonight and the members of our group were almost all pretty lucky. I had a nice win on the pokies, so Merry Christmas to me!

We had a late dinner. Late for us is 8.30pm because we usually eat at 6pm.

Tomorrow will be an early start because we’re taking one of the psychotic dogs in for grooming. The Bay will be chaotic on the last Saturday morning before Christmas and school holidays have just begun so ... you know ... eep!

So it’s bed for me now.

Nite all.

Spoiled

Look what Adoring Husband gave me today!

It’s a pendant and the stone is Larimar.

Larimar is said to enlighten and heal in a physical, emotional, mental and spiritual way. It stimulates the heart, throat, third eye and crown chakras facilitating inner wisdom and outer manifestation. It represents peace and clarity, radiating healing and love energy.

How special is that!?  Yes, I am a lucky person!

We drove into The Bay early this morning so that I could purchase my Christmas present to put under the tree and boy was it chaotic! People and cars everywhere! We couldn’t get out of there fast enough!

We went to two shops and on the way out of town stopped at the coffee drive through.

When we arrived home, I wrapped all of my gifts and made a big mess of the kitchen bench, which then had to be cleared to make a late lunch.

AH and I binge watched some Grey’s Anatomy until we decided on an early light dinner.

Now I’m exhausted!

Sleep time for me.

Long Enough

I’ve been sitting here for 45 minutes trying to figure out what to write about.

I’m brain dead.

The Gypsy visited for a while his morning at the shop and the second that she left, the customers came thick and fast. I had a few locals in for a chat too which took quite a bit of time out of my day.

The day passed quickly and before I knew it, Adoring Husband arrived to help me close up.

I wasn’t in any mood for preparing a meal so we stopped and got some grilled fish from the cafe on the way home and had an early dinner.

It’s almost midnight so I’m making this short and sweet and sleep. is calling me.

Fully Christmas

Today confirmed for me that Christmas is definitely in full swing!

It started out a little stressful when our Square Reader (which is basically our electronic cash register)  somehow logged us out and wouldn’t accept our password to get back in!

So The Motivator came in with her laptop and after making a couple of attempts to sign in herself,  then checking that no messages had come through regarding any known problems, she changed our password and all was right with our business world again. Thank goodness!

I didn’t get to spend much time with my girls for coffee because it was so busy in the shop and it stayed that way all day. Just a constant flow of people, all in with a purpose and feeling grateful that they didn’t have to drive into The Bay.

Great for us!

I got to mail the last of my Christmas gifts before the afternoon mail cutoff so I was pleased about that.

I still haven’t purchased my own gift to put under the tree yet.

I’m feeling decidedly weary now, and I am already in bed so it won’t take long for me to fall asleep.

Happy Hump Day!

Morning Swim

After ten long days of pain (for both of us!) Adoring Husband returned to work today.

I would have enjoyed the sleep in but I had invited some of my tribe around for a pre Christmas morning tea and a swim, and because I dilly dallied yesterday with the gift wrapping, it meant that I had to get up extra early to bake some brownies and prepare the fruit platter, as well as clear the laundry for bathroom traffic.

I also bathed Psychotic dog Ruby again in her special shampoo to ease her grass allergy and to clean her weepy eye. Two loads of washing and a shower for me to wash away the dripping perspiration. It reached 35° here today, which is very hot for this neck of the woods.

Ironically there was no bathroom traffic and probably the reason everyone left so abruptly at noon - because their bladders were more than likely ready to explode!

It was a really pleasant morning with us all bobbing around in the pool for an hour chatting before Lady Lynn’s grandies arrived and livened up the energy. They showed off their swimming and diving skills, racing each other in the water and splashing around having fun, just as kids do.

They were a delight and their manners impeccable. They certainly warmed my heart when they each thanked me for having them over and letting them swim in the pool.

After everybody left, Adoring Husband joined me and we swam for a little while until we remembered the parcels that we had to get to the Post Office before 2pm to catch today’s mail run so that everyone would receive their gifts before Christmas.

There were ten parcels going to 6 different addresses and now we can’t afford to eat over Christmas! *joking*

AH was able to set up our Christmas inflatables on the front lawn again today. It’s a bit of a pain having to bring them inside when storms are approaching - especially painful when the storms don’t eventuate or skim past us! Storm season sucks!

😳

At about 3pm, my body decided it needed to rest, so I lay on the bed and fell asleep about 15 minutes later. Psychotic dog Jack woke me at 4pm with his psychotic bark which was aimed at nothing!

AH prepared dinner of lamb loin chops and fresh asparagus - both perfectly cooked and delicious - which he served to me in bed!

I am still in bed writing this post and thinking about my first day back at work tomorrow. I think I’ve only worked one day in the last two weeks! Crazy!

I feel so relaxed and happy right now. All is right with my world and I love my life.

Thank you universe for reminding me how lucky I am.

Nite all.

Wrapped Up

It has taken me ALL day to wrap all the Christmas presents, box them up and address them.

I had a couple of breaks in between to cook lunch and dinner and watch a movie on SBS, but I calculate that it’s taken a minimum 4 hours to complete this task. I’ve only wrapped the gifts that need to be sent in the mail so I still have more to wrap!

It’s almost midnight and here I am still sitting up doing my blog and thinking of what I have to do tomorrow morning before my girls arrive for coffee and a swim!

I’m feeling a bit peckish!

The movie that I watched was a claymation film called “Mary and Max”. It was released in 2009 and had the voices of Eric Bana, Ian Meldrum, Toni Collette, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Barry Humphries to name a few. It was a combination of weird, intriguing, sad, funny and relatable.

I can’t say that it was enjoyable, but it was thought provoking and meaningful and worth watching. I’d probably watch it again.

Enough of this frivolity.

I need sleep.
