Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Movie Time

As I type this, I’m watching the movie “John Wick”. Poor puppy 😩

Yesterday (Friday), BGWLBH and I did a big shop in The Bay.

We had a long list that required many visits to many shops. Go Natural, Nana’s Pantry, Supermarket, Butcher, Green Grocer, Newsagent, Bakery, Fresh Seafood and Su Jus.

We filled the boot of the car AND the back seat with bags of food that took a good 30 minutes to unpack when we arrived home.

It was exhausting, but as tired as I was, I couldn’t fall asleep until 2am.

Today was ‘play with Harley’ day …

And ‘fend for yourself’ day for dinner.

I decided to have my dinner at lunch time.

Lobster tail baked in butter and paprika, purple slaw with goats cheese and red grapefruit vinaigrette and crispy French fries …

It was better than the lobster we had at the restaurant last week!

Delicious.

I napped for an hour mid afternoon, played with Harley again and returned to bed for another hour. I got out of bed to look at BGWLBH’s art.

She and Adoring Husband had already eaten dinner. I decided that I was hungry so I boiled some potatoes in their jackets and served them with butter and sour cream. I had the purple slaw, half a mango, 4 cherry tomatoes from the garden and 3 leftover chicken wings from Friday night.

Surprisingly, I ate all but one chicken wing!

We played trivia for an hour and when BGWLBH retired to her room, AH and I watched some of Youngbloods on YouTube.

Harley decided it was bed time so I’m sitting up in bed watching John Wick (poor puppy 😩).

No doubt I will soon fall asleep.

Nite all.

Another No-go

Today is Thursday.

BGWLBH had a solo day in town.

Adoring Husband and I watched a few movies.

“Greenland”

“Turtles All The Way Down”

“Lonely Planet”

Dinner was easy - reheating lasagne leftovers and serving it with salad.

AH served me some chocolate cake with fresh berries and cream.

To catch up on Wednesday, I actually spent an hour doing some art! If only my attention span could last longer than an hour!

I left everything out so that I might be lured back for another hour here and there.

I have just started the third phase of my parasite cleanse. I will try to last out the entire two weeks this time. It can be brutal.

Time to sleep.

Nite all.

Not a Lot

Monday was a non event.

I spent quite some time in the kitchen making vegetable fritters and a four cheese spinach tart. This was a bonus for Adoring Husband because it meant that he didn’t have to cook. Instead, he made a simple garden salad to serve with the tart.

I napped in the afternoon.

Tuesday was meditation and hoop qi gong.

Afterwards, I drove into The Bay with The Gypsy and met up with BGWLBH.

I had a few things on my list and needed meat for dinner. I decided on lasagne and was lucky enough to nab the last pack of lamb mince from the Pialba butcher.

We were home by 2pm and I rested for an hour before playing with Harley and then preparing dinner.

We played trivia and watched some YouTube TV.

This guy is great to watch … almost Steve Irwin-ish …

Surviving on Shark Island

So that was our viewing pleasure until bed time.

Now I lay me down to sleep.

Nite all.

Intolerable

I am a big sports fan.

I find pleasure in watching most sports:

  • Tennis
  • Football in all forms except American football
  • Cricket
  • Golf
  • Darts
  • Surfing
  • Lawn Bowls
  • Ten Pin Bowling
  • Swimming
  • Diving
  • Gymnastics
  • Squash
  • Badminton
  • Table Tennis
  • Volleyball
  • Basketball
  • Baseball
  • Hockey (including ice)
However, there are two sports that I find intolerable.

They are Boxing and Car racing.

It was only fitting that BGWLBH and I should leave the house for the day so that Adoring Husband could enjoy the Bathurst race.

Ugh 😩

We drove into The Bay and after visiting a couple of our favourite shops, we decided that the RSL would be a good way to pass a couple of hours.

I played the pokies and KENO and still came home with the same money that I walked in with! An afternoon well spent.

I am now lying in bed listening to heavy rain on the roof and the BOM shows absolutely nothing. According to the satellite picture, the sky is completely clear.

Never trust the BOM.

My afternoon was spent playing with Harley and cooking dinner. Honey Soy Sesame chicken with Fried Rice was requested and it took 90 minutes from start to service.

Now I’m definitely ready for a good sleep.
