Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Winners are Grinners

Adoring Husband’s AFL team, Collingwood, defeated the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final today by 4 points.

It was close for the entire game and I don’t think any team was more than ten points in front at any stage.

It was a great grand final!

Hopefully, tomorrow will be my turn when Brisbane Broncos play Penrith Panthers in the NRL Grand Final. Go Broncos!!

I had my first swim in the pool today!

It was a bit chilly, but still nice.

Bangers and mash for dinner.

Now, while the pain in my tooth has eased, I need to sleep.

No Go

Adoring Husband was supposed to  attend a physio appointment for his shoulder today but the Parkinson’s symptoms overwhelmed him and he had to cancel.

BGWLBH spent the day in The Bay.

I cooked breakfast, played with Harley, watched Breaking Dawn Part 2, dozed on the couch while watching my quiz shows and marinated chicken wings for dinner.

Tonight, instead of finishing my dragonfly journal page, I started a new page …

… and I still didn’t come close to finishing, so now I have two I’ve gotta work on!

It took all night and a number of capsules, but by morning, my toothache was gone.

In the last ten years, I had only taken 4 Panadol. Two for a seriously painful back injury, one after I had 5 teeth removed and one last year for razor blades in my throat.

Yesterday and last night, I took eight!!!

No plans for tomorrow, except perhaps a swim in the pool. My first swim for the season.

The Good Stuff

Interesting facts about cannabis.

1. One hectare of cannabis releases as much oxygen as 25 hectares of forest.

2. From one hectare of cannabis you can get as much paper as from 4 hectares of wood.

3. Whereas hemp can be made into paper 8 times (recycle), wood can be made to paper 3 times. Hemp paper is the best and strongest.

4. Hemp grows in 4 months, and the tree grows in 20-50 years.

5. Hemp flower is a real radiation trap. Cannabis plantations purify the air.

6. Hemp can be cultivated anywhere in the world, it needs very little water.

Besides, since it can protect itself from pesticides, it does not need pesticides.

7. Hemp textiles surpasses even linen products in its properties.

8. Hemp is an ideal plant for making ropes, ropes, cords, bags, shoes, headwear.

9. Cannabis.

It is banned in many countries. But technically, cannabis is drug-free.

10. The protein value of cannabis seeds is very high, and the two fatty acids in it are no longer found anywhere else in nature.

11. It is much cheaper to produce hemp than soybeans.

12. Animals fed with cannabis do not need hormonal support.

13. All plastic products can be made from hemp, and hemp plastic is eco-friendly and fully biodegradable.

14. If the car body is made of cannabis-based composite material, it will be 10 times stronger.

15. Hemp can also be used to heat insulation of buildings, it is durable, cheap and flexible.

16. Soap and cosmetics made of cannabis do not contaminate water, so it is completely environmentally friendly.

I have a toothache that might kill an elephant. Some cannabis might help! Even Panadol is not killing the pain. It’s reducing it but not killing it. My dentist is on the Sunny Coast and I may have to bite the bullet and make an appointment.

Ugh.

Today I’ve spent the afternoon in bed using all my magic tricks and potions and oils and crystals and mind games to fix my tooth.

This afternoon, Vegan Chickie sent me this latest pic of little Hazie. She’s growing very quickly.

I must now finish my letter to Chicklet so that I can send it tomorrow.

Need a Lazy Day

There was a planned power outage for today, from 8.30am until 2.30pm, so BGWLBH and I took the opportunity to drive into The Bay.

We, as usual, had a list.

We visited -

  • Office Works
  • Scarness Chemist
  • Scarness Newsagency
  • Tinkerbell’s
  • World Treasure Designs jeweller
  • Nana’s Pantry
  • Stocklands Chemist
  • Pialba Butcher
  • Pialba Coles
  • Su Jus Cafe
  • FROG pick up
We arrived home 20 minutes before the outage ended so we sat in the pool area chucking the ball with Harley until the power returned.

Last night’s leftovers for dinner.

I dozed on the couch all evening.

Tomorrow will be a relaxing day for me. It’s been a busy week.

No Hoops Today

Meditation was awesome with a couple of newbies joining the group - they are actually ‘oldies’ from when I had meditation at the shop - but they are newbies this time round.

There were only two of us for hoop chi so we decided to give it a miss this week.

The Gypsy and I had two hours in a philosophical conversation that was inspiring and mind blowing. Everything that she’s been teaching for the last six years fell into place like a completed jigsaw puzzle.

When you step away from the conditioning that the mainstream world has imposed upon us throughout our lives, there is a line of thinking and actions we can take to change our outlook completely.

It can help us deal with life’s challenges in a lighter, more fulfilling way and that, in turn, encircles us with an aura of love and light that not only empowers us, but can inspire positive change in others.

The trickiest part is stepping away from the conditioning. It keeps trying to drag you back. It takes a conscious and concerted effort to keep your distance from that conditioning to allow the love and light to remain permanently.

Always a work in progress.

On the way home, I rode along the river path and sat for a while to take in the view. I leave it too long between connections with this lovely river.

I was home before midday and had a couple of plays with Harley throughout the afternoon, watched my quiz shows and made a tuna bake with garlic asparagus for dinner.

Our washing machine decided to scare us with some groaning and grinding so we’ve booked the repair man to come take a look next week. Ugh.

It’s almost 11.30pm and I fell asleep on the couch at 6.30pm! I need some solid sleep now.

At it Again

BGWLBH had an early nail appointment so we drove in extra early and had breakfast at the rocknroll cafe on the esplanade.

It’s a great place to sit, out the back in the booths, with old rocknroll music playing on the radio and 50s/60s music trivia questions on laminated sheets atop each table.

For BGWLBH, the food was average. I rarely eat breakfast so I was pleased to order GF raisin toast which is hard to find in cafes.

It was reasonably priced at $33 for 2 x poached eggs, 2 x bacon on GF toast, 2 x GF raisin toast with extra butter and 2 x pots of tea.

We probably won’t return, but it was a nice place to visit.

Before the nail appointment, we checked out the boutique just up the road and I bought 2 tops, I got some iodine from the chemist and put some money on my ring at Tinkerbell’s.

While she was getting her French tips, I strolled through the art and craft gift shop, Big W, Rivers and the other boutique and then found some art supplies in Choice.

We got some juices from Su Jus.

On the trip home, we crossed paths with Adoring Husband on his way to physio for his shoulder.

This afternoon, I spent time with The Gypsy and came home with just enough time to cook duck with a sweet and spicy mandarine sauce, mash, coleslaw and some tomato and capsicum from the garden.

Tomorrow is meditation and hoop chi day so I’d best get some sleep.

Birthday Boy

Harley is one year old today!

These were his presents …

The little red chicken is now dead and buried. He chewed its legs off and busted the squeaker. The ball has been pierced by his teeth and the inner squeaker also busted. The meerkat is drenched with his spit and quite disgusting. Its squeaker is still intact.

He is happy!

BGWLBH and I checked out the spectacular and amazing orchid show today …

Who knew there were so many varieties of orchids! We were awestruck and next year, when Harley is older and less inclined to chew our plants, we will purchase some orchids for our garden.

I bought myself a Broncos jersey and a flag so that I can be a good supporter next week during the grand final. Can you believe I haven’t owned a Broncos shirt or guernsey or about ten years! I do now.

It’s time to sleep. I have an early start tomorrow.

Nite all.
