Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

I Got It

I didn’t forget that today was Saturday!

At 11.45am I removed myself from the bedroom to join my team for lunch. BGWLBH presented the usual platters of healthful goodness and there was some left over chicken to add to the mix.

We had 90 minutes to kill until the football started so we played Monopoly and Adoring Husband absolutely annihilated us in record time. I don’t think we’ll play that too often 🤔 We girls are not great losers!

I’m still on top of the footy tipping ladder but there are two games remaining in this round so who knows.

I slapped together a quick Butter Chicken and rice with papadums for dinner and we plonked ourselves back in front of the TV for the final game between Cowboys and Raiders.

Again, the evening has flown by and again it’s heading toward midnight.

What Day?

Now that I’m not working, I get confused about what day it is.

I know I’m not the only one in the world or in the town who has that problem, but I’m especially confused at the end of the week. Friday/Saturday/Sunday are my problem days and I quite often skip Saturday altogether. Now that football season has started again, it might change.

I had a late one last night so it was late when I made my way into the world this morning.

I forced myself out of bed to do some washing and between us, BGWLBH and I prepared lunch which we all sat at the table to eat.

Afterwards, she and I played Sequence while Adoring Husband finished watching his show on TV and then he joined us. We are all pretty evenly matched so it makes the game really interesting.

Before the footy started, we all watched “The Guilty” on Netflix. It was an intense movie with Jake Gyllenhaal as the main actor.

AH cooked the usual Friday night fare and BGWLBH escaped to her room while we became absorbed in the footy.

It’s already approaching midnight - that seems to be my standard ending with almost every blog post!

A Good Question

 Why did he do this?

Dr Lawrie’s speech 3 months later at the IICC conference

I was up and at it by 8am and we (BGWLBH and I) drove to the local pharmacy with a mission to set a plan in action. It all went according to plan and I was home in time for my zoom meeting with The Gypsy.

She pulled an Oracle card for me.

It was card number 5 - The Dance of the Butterfly Queen which is the card of pivotal change. Very appropriate.

That was followed by a Tarot Reading which helped me to figure out how to finish this cycle of my life and step into a fresh start in preparation for the next opportunity that presents itself.

At the end of that reading, we did my virtue scope for the coming 12 months.

They were all great readings and really helpful for me.

I prepared fish bites, salad and tuna guacamole for lunch.

With BGWLBH’s assistance, I wrapped some birthday presents in scarves and Adoring Husband drove me to the Post Office to send them off.

We played Sequence for a while this afternoon before taking some time for ourselves.

I made San Choy Bow for dinner and then it was time for round two of the NRL season. Melbourne Storm defeated South Sydney Rabbitohs by just one point.

In the AFL my team Carlton defeated Richmond. Richmond were the hot favourites so it was a great win!

I watched a live Facebook interview with Zak Menhennett, the One Nation representative for Hinkler, tonight. Remember, he was my old boyfriend’s nephew that I met at the Know Your Rights rally in town a few weeks ago?

I have no idea who I am voting for in the next election yet, but I volunteered to hand out his ‘how to vote’ cards on Election Day 😳 I’m thinking I’ll probably regret that move, but what the hell, it’s just one day.

Now it’s time to sleep. I have nothing planned for tomorrow but you never know what opportunities might pop up!

Is It True?

I found a news article today stating that the QLD State of Emergency powers have been extended until October 2022.

It hasn’t yet been verified on the Govt website but they usually take about three days to bring the site up to date so I will wait until then before handing in my notice on the lease.

I had morning tea with my meditation/art girls this morning. I rode my trike and it was a morning full of belly laughs and very enjoyable.

From there I rode to my shop where I edited the photos that I took yesterday of The Gypsy. I did seven but here is one of them …

I met BGWLBH in the supermarket … along with three other people who were in for a chat and caused me to be late home for lunch which BGWLBH was kind enough to prepare.

We carefully worded an important email that she needs to send this week and made a ‘to do’ list for both of us in preparation for her moving.

We played one of our new games, Sequence, which Adoring Husband and I had never played before so BGWLBH is already in front on the score board for that one, but we enjoyed it and we are ALL on the scoreboard!

I prepared duck and vegetables for their dinner. Prawns, lettuce, avocado, shallots and dressing for me.

MAFS was next.

When I thought I was ready for bed, I found a movie on Foxtel called “Wakefield”. It was really interesting and drew me in for the whole hour and forty six minutes!

Now I need to sleep because I have another early (earlier than usual) start tomorrow.

Time Goes By

I was up early this morning for a date with The Gypsy.

Again, we had lots to talk about and we were shocked when we realised that three hours had passed!

I was an hour late contacting BGWLBH to come pick me up because WE had a date too!

It was all good and we drove into The Bay on a mission and with a short ‘to do’ list. We spent about two hours running our errands and on the way home we had to pull over as three police cars, sirens blaring, passed us at high speed turning into the Hervey Bay-Burrum Heads road.

They were travelling way too fast for us to see where they were going but they certainly didn’t stop anywhere along our path home. Perhaps they turned at Toogoom or Howard? I’ll watch the local news on Wednesday night to see if anything comes up. I couldn’t find anything online tonight.

After we unpacked our goodies, we sat down to watch a Netflix movie called “Army of Thieves” which I quite enjoyed.

We had an early dinner of barramundi and salad and sat down to play the new Trivial Pursuit (2010-2020) which BGWLBH purchased to add to our extensive collection today. We also bought Monopoly and Sequence and a weird one called Shitty Choices.

Of course we watched MAFS.

Now it’s rapidly approaching midnight again. You’d think after such a full day, I’d be ready to sleep but actually I feel a bit energised 😳

Tomorrow, I have coffee with my art and meditation girls, I need to edit some photos that I took of The Gypsy (a paid gig), I’m way behind with my washing and there are more movies to watch and games to play!

So I may need to meditate my way to sleep.

Here’s the Story

Remember my raised veggie pod?

Well it’s not mine anymore.

Adoring Husband has taken charge.

We towed the trailer to Springvale Nursery and Hervey Bay Nursery to get potting mix and perlite and some herbs for the garden.

We purchased a pair of garden gloves for BGWLBH because AH had asked her to help him prepare and plant. She is an avid gardener.

At home, I prepared lunch before AH filled the pod with all the bags of stuff and because he still hadn’t invited her to help, while he worked, BGWLBH and I watched a Netflix movie called “The Old Guard”.

Very good movie … quite violent but I could handle it.

Once he was finished the manual labour, I told him that we girls were going to do the planting … I was going to supervise where I wanted the seedlings and seeds and then BGWLBH would do the dirty work. He didn’t look keen, but we stepped outside and began our planning.

We discussed it briefly and between the two of us we decided which plants would go IN the pod, which would go UNDER the pod, which would go into the little hanging planters on the pillar and which would go in the open garden bed near the pool.

Without even lifting a finger, I experienced a twinge in my back and needed to go inside to lie down.

At that point AH decided to put his 2c worth in and made different decisions regarding the garden.

So we’ve decided to just leave it to him.

I’m considering purchasing a second pod so that BGWLBH and I can experience the joy of gardening ourselves.

While we were at the nurseries, I was hoping to find some nice pots and garden ornaments, but I couldn’t find anything that tickled my fancy, so my money remained in my wallet.

Dinner was duck breast with mixed roast vegetables, broccoli and mushroom sauce. It was ok.

MAFS was next and suddenly it’s after 11pm and I have an early start tomorrow.

So … nite all.

Twenty Two

I fell asleep a bit before 2am and I slept soundly until 9.40am.

That’s pretty good.

It was after 11am when I changed into my swimmers and very gingerly made my way into the pool - the water was a little chilly to begin with, but I didn’t take long to acclimatise.

I swam 22 laps and then did a floating meditation.

My own personal guided meditation that I created for me, begins with me opening two huge double golden doors onto a small deck that overlooks a never ending field of sunflowers 🌻🌻🌻 and all of the flowers are facing me.

There are three shiny sparkling steps that lead from the deck to the ground and at the foot of the steps there is a path that winds through the middle of the field, so I slowly walk along the path and all the sunflower faces turn to watch me as I go.

So many creatures are catching my attention as I move forward.

Big fat juicy green frogs 🐸 jumping around the bases of the flower stems, red and black lady bugs 🐞 crawling up those stems, butterflies 🦋 of every colour imaginable fluttering about and landing on the petals, bunny rabbits 🐇  hopping across the path, bees 🐝 buzzing about searching for the sunflower pollen, dragonflies resembling garden fairies hovering and darting between the plants, ants 🐜 marching in rows along the ground, lizards 🦎 spiders 🕷 and grasshoppers 🦗, birds 🐦 of all sizes and descriptions chirping and whistling and flitting here and there.

As I walk the path, I’m soaking in all the sounds and the colour and feeling at one with nature. The sun is shining brightly and there is a cool breeze that makes the rows of sunflowers move like ripples of water and make a soft rustling sound.

Soon I come to a clearing with a big patch of soft green grass and a few little daisies, bluebells and jonquils scattered about. I lay down on the cool grass and look up to the few fluffy white clouds floating above.

There is more to my guided meditation but I’m not giving away my secrets 🤫

After I finished in the pool, I was drying off under the Bali hut when BGWLBH joined me with a platter of fresh fruit so we sat eating and chatting for a while.

We made ourselves a cuppa and sat down to watch another Ryan Reynolds movie “6 Underground”. It was gruesome and graphic and violent and gory, which is usually the kind of movie that I avoid, but I really enjoyed this one. I closed my eyes for most of the gory stuff - some I wasn’t quick enough 😳

Adoring Husband and I watched the footy after that and I made lamb tortillas for dinner.

We watched MAFS.

Now, once again, it’s almost midnight.

Nite all.
