Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Delayed Catch Up

I had an excellent night of sound sleep, but it was still difficult to get out of bed this morning.

Needless to say, I was a touch late for meditation.

It was a small class but it held a lot of value and the feedback was positive and inspiring.

The weather was not conducive to sitting by the river for our promised catch up so we booked a ZOOM meeting for midday and then spent 3.5 hours sitting on our own beds talking our heads off, solving the world’s spiritual problems and advising each other on how to reach our own next spiritual level.

I love our long chats.

BGWLBH decided to head into the bay for the day.

I made fried rice with garlic, lemon, butter barramundi for dinner.

We played trivia for an hour and again, were all in bed before 7.30pm.

I have nothing planned for tomorrow, which is a good thing, because I rarely follow through with my plans haha.

Now it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.

Another Lazy One

We had some patchy rain today and a couple of short, sharp showers that were so heavy, we had to increase the volume on the TV.

Before I got out of bed, I watched the end of the final round of the golf tournament that I’ve been following. None of my favourites were among the front runners, so I didn’t stay up late and only turned it on at 6am to watch the final hour.

I got out of bed earlier than usual to wash my hair, play with Harley for 40 minutes and then make some breakfast.

I then parked my butt on the couch for the rest of the day!

A couple of fluffy Netflix movies, my quiz shows and I made stir fry vegetables with rice for dinner. Adoring Husband got bonus steamed beef dim sims on his plate. Leftover trifle for dessert.

That was my day. It was lazy and indulgent and just the way I like my days.

Meditation early tomorrow, so it’s time to sleep.

This is Harley with his butt on the arm of AH’s chair and his head on the arm of my chair.

Nite all.

Unfulfilled Plans

I thought that I might spend part of my weekend in the art room making jewellery or finishing some acrylic art paintings that have been waiting very patiently for me to return to them.

While the idea seemed appealing, my motivation and enthusiasm was less than energised.

On Saturday, I watched the new Netflix movie with Sally Field called “Remarkably Bright Creatures”.

I LOVED it - needed tissues - I adore Sally Field as an actor. I also adore octopuses, one of which played a main role in the movie. I highly recommend this one.

Otherwise, football and golf took a lot my attention.

I missed 2 games in my footy tipping. I’m very annoyed that I changed one tip at the last minute and shouldn’t have, but I am, however, in the lead by 2 points now.

The golf is being played in USA, so it’s not even televised until around 10pm - I leave the TV on with the volume on low, all night, so that I can doze on and off and see the live scores each time I wake up.

I admit, it’s not very restful and I have felt quite weary all weekend because of it, but I do enjoy the golf, especially when my favourites, Adam Scott, Jason Day, Rory McIlroy, Tommy Fleetwood and Cam Young are playing.

Today, I made a trifle with BGWLBH’s leftover birthday cake. Raspberry jelly, custard, sliced peaches, fresh strawberries, whipped cream and chopped pecans sprinkled on top. It was delicious.

I received phone calls from Number One Son and Bubbles for Mother’s Day and a text from Vegan Chickie. Adoring Husband bought me a lovely plant. My best Mother’s Day for a number of years!

Easy spaghetti bolognese from the freezer for dinner.

We did play some trivia and were all in bed before 7.30pm.

I think I’ll sleep well tonight.

Nite all.
