Where did my day go?
It started with the usual Tuesday morning coffee with the girls which was emotional and hilarious and thought provoking and enjoyable.
Just as I was about to leave, with thoughts of artistic creativity in my head, a new supplier walked through the door and introduced himself.
The next three hours were filled with sorting through stock that that may or may not sell well. We made a small order, although it was bigger than we’d planned, and I left the shop just before 2pm.
Adoring Husband picked me up and on the way home I remembered that I had to be at my hooping class at 3pm so I made myself a light late lunch and sat down for half an hour before getting ready for the class.
AH dropped me off - because the weather was looking a bit ominous for trike riding - and I spent an hour learning some new tricks and laughing a lot.
I returned home and sat for 30 minutes before preparing dinner. Duck and salad was sooooo delicious and I made the chocado dessert to have with blueberries afterwards.
We watched The Masked Singer and both decided that bed was calling us.
Getting too old for these big days!
Nite all.
I'm lazy and selfish and spend too much time on the internet. I love to be creative with photography and jewellery and sketching with pencil and pastels. I'm happier now than I have ever been and I love everything about my life ... where I live, my home, my fantastic grown up children, my lifestyle, my friends, my dogs and last but not least my wonderful adoring husband. Life is good!
Nice to see you!
Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.
Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.
Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**
Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!
So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!
Welcome to my dilemna!!

Club Lunch
Adoring Husband and I had a lunch date today with the Welsh Wonder and her hubby Gentle Ben.
We lunched at the Golf Club in The Bay.
AH and I had grilled barramundi with salad, which was delicious.
We all chatted over our meals and each enjoyed a beverage before the WW and I made our way into the poker machine area while the boys moved outside to enjoy their beverages in the fresh air.
I didn’t win, but I came out even after 45 minutes, which is when AH was ready to leave.
Earlier we had been to Stocklands where I stocked up on knickers and bought a top at 75% off, the new Pete Evans recipe book and a shirt for Chicklet.
So we were ready for home after lunch.
The water in the pool was perfect but I didn’t swim today. No art. Leftovers for dinner.
I spent 90 minutes on the phone with Vegan Chickie which was hilarious and there was plenty to catch up on because it’s been a while.
Now it’s almost 10pm so I’m off to sleep.

Not In It
I felt a little discombobulated all day.
Getting out of bed was hard work and all I could manage was one load of washing which was followed by a touch of vertigo that led me back to bed where I napped briefly and watched some YouTube until our pre-warned power outage happened right on the dot of 4pm.
That was my cue to test the pool water, which was just the right temperature for swimming, so I changed into swimmers this time and jumped right in.
I’d only swum four laps when the power returned and the creepy crawly decided to play tag with me.
After I got dried and dressed, I decided to attempt some creativity but my heart just wasn’t in it.
I cleaned up a little but I really have to reorganise my art studio because I have a whole lot of new ‘stuff’ that doesn’t currently have a home and that ‘stuff’ is loosely scattered all over the place.
A girl can’t set her creativity free in such a mess!
I got a bit creative for dinner and we had crispy (ish) skin chicken with roasted cauliflower steaks, buttered asparagus and mushroom & onion gravy.
I think I’m off to bed to sleep away my discombobulation.

Stepped It Up
The tourists stepped it up today and I was very busy while the happily noisy art class happened in the training room.
I came home to an empty house because Adoring Husband had a man date to watch the AFL Grand Final with a bunch of blokes.
It was nice to sit alone in the quiet for a while and I didn’t do anything productive. No art. No swimming (though the water was lovely). No cooking. No housework. No study. No creating.
I surrounded myself with books and paperwork and my laptop ready to work on my health challenge, but all motivation waned quickly and all I wanted was to sit.
The AFL Grand Final was a non-event with a massive win to the Tigers.
Now we are going to watch the second preliminary final between Sydney Roosters and Melbourne Storm. I might have to watch it in bed because I’m exhausted from doing nothing all afternoon!
We’ve put all our outdoor cushions in the outside kitchen because the weather forecasters have predicted storms tonight. The BOM shows some nasty weather coming in this direction and it seems to be moving pretty quickly. If it reaches us, it will be the first storm of the season which is a couple of days later than last year.
I’m looking forward to a lazy day in bed tomorrow morning and after I clean the bathroom, I’ll
reward myself with some art play.

Working Gal
It was a steady day in the shop and I had some long chats with people from Cooktown, Cairns, Townsville and Gold Coast, including one lady who has been holidaying here for 27 years!
Over the last few weeks there have been some interesting rumours filtering through about the managers of one of our caravan parks and the changes they are enforcing which is putting regular holiday makers off side and ‘apparently’ causing people to head home earlier than they would normally.
It leaves me wondering if they are the reason that the park is extraordinarily empty for this time of the year.
I do know that since these people took over, our usually thriving holiday community has been far from thriving during the holiday periods, but I can’t determine if it’s just co-incidence or connected to the rumours.
Today was a good day with lots of foot traffic and people hoping that we’ll be open all weekend ... which we are.
Tomorrow is our fluid art workshop, which The Motivator will be running while I take care of the shop.
So I think I shall go to bed and watch the second half of the NRL Preliminary Final between Raiders and Rabbitohs. I’m barracking for the underdogs - the Rabbitohs. The score is currently 6-all.
Happy weekend everyone!

Shopped Til I Dropped
On a whim, I jumped out of bed early ... and by ‘early’ I mean 8am ... and decided that I would accompany Adoring Husband on his trip into The Bay to buy meat for the psychotic dogs’ food.
On the way out of town we checked the mail and bought coffee. When I dropped the shop mail into The Motivator, I took a photo of her beautiful flower.
AH and I had a list and an order to how we would shop.
You might be surprised to learn that I got carried away at the art shops. This is just a sample of what I purchased - 50% off at Spotlight ...
I didn’t photograph the rest of the stuff, but I now have 40 canvases in the cupboard of my studio waiting to be shown some love, not to mention some more metallic paints and some useful tools and containers.
I tried in vain to purchase an attachment to hold my phone on my tripod so that I can video my art processes and start a YouTube channel. Both Harvey Norman and JBHIFI sold their last clamp in the last two days.
It was mid afternoon by the time we returned home and we had a late lunch of barramundi and salad. I got the fish at Coles and I have to say, it was fresh and succulent and very tasty! I wish I’d bought more.
There was no Boost juice today because the queue was ridiculously long.
No art today because I have to clean my work area.
No swimming today because I was wearing good clothes and I was too lazy to come inside and get changed.
I’m working tomorrow (Friday) and even though the caravan park is quite empty, it’s starting to really get busy for the school holidays, which is always a good thing.
So it’s time for me to sleep now.

Flower Power 🌻
I dragged myself out of bed early this morning to attend meditation, even though I wasn’t working.
It was a good session and worth the effort!
Afterwards, The Motivator and I set up the tables in the training room ready to practice some art. TM wanted me to show her how to create the sunflower.
Sadly, I did not take a photo of her beautiful flower, but here is mine ...
... which is very similar to the last two flowers that I painted.
We took turns to serve customers throughout the day, so our art was interrupted continuously, which is a good thing because it was a good sales day.
We spent the entire afternoon chatting like old times and I didn’t leave until after 3pm!
I tested the pool water when I arrived home, but it was a bit cooler than the other day, so I chose to not swim today.
I have to say that I am very tired tonight. Far too much excitement for one day!

Made a Deal
There were only four of us at coffee this morning, but it was fun and before we knew it, it was 11am and we all parted ways.
The Motivator and I had some business to discuss AND some educational stuff to chat about AND stock deliveries to check out until it was time for me to leave.
I did a grocery shop before heading home to prepare lunch.
The pool water felt fabulous but I didn’t go in today.
Psychotic dog Ruby has gunky eyes at the moment, so I bathed her, cleaned her eyes and sprayed her with colloidal silver. I’ll try the CS for a few days to see if it makes a difference before we resort to a vet visit.
I did a bit of study after lunch. No art today. A load of washing. Picked up some stray leaves from around the pool. Watched some of a crappy movie. AH cooked dinner on the barbecue while I prepped a quick salad.
We were both in bed before 9pm (where I am now).
I plan on attending meditation tomorrow morning so I’d best get some sleep.

Lapping It Up
I stayed in bed late, got up, had a shower, walked outside to test the pool water - as I do most days - and it felt so good that I jumped right in! Fully dressed.
My first swim since last season!
I stayed in the water for about 20 minutes and swam ten laps. Adoring Husband didn’t even know I was there and when I called to him from the alfresco area to get me a towel, he laughed and asked if I’d fallen in!
He tested the water himself and then asked if I was joking 🙃
He was too chicken to go in the water.
I decided, after my swim, to varnish some of my paintings, especially the ones that I’ve sold since I have to send them off in early and mid October, so they need plenty of time to dry.
By the time I’d finished, there was no room left to do any actual painting, so I embellished the crappy fish that I painted last week. It’s still crappy, but I like it better than before.
I almost signed up for an Eckhart Tolle video workshop. I love Eckhart’s spiritual and inner transformational messages and I’ve often used his quotes. I have one of his audible books too.
However, I watched the first 7 minutes of each of the five videos in the workshop (issued for free) and I have to say that he is SO BORING to listen to and I couldn’t keep my focus for the seven minutes!
His messages are fabulous but he should get someone else to present them.
Let me show you this ...

Where Am I?
I opened my eyes this morning and my first thought was “I haven’t done my blog for two days!”
There are no excuses.
I worked on Saturday morning and I’ve been practicing my art but have had more fails than wins in the last couple of days and today, I couldn’t even drag myself into the studio - nil motivation.
We tested the pool water and again … ALMOST went for a dip. The temp of the water is increasing little by little every day and it’s so close I can almost taste it!!
Time to share some advice. Some things that we should give up, release and surrender.
I’m surprised that the pole dancer won Australia’s Got Talent tonight 😳
She was very good and Australia voted for her so what would I know? Good on her. Her name is Kristy Sellars. She worked hard and she is a winner.
Well, I think it’s time for bed. Hopefully I can summon the enthusiasm to practice some more art tomorrow 👩🎨
Welcome to a new week and happy Monday!

Time to share some advice. Some things that we should give up, release and surrender.
- Give up your need to control. The only thing that we can control is our own attitude and responses to life. We cannot control how others behave, what they do or don’t do, what they say or don’t say. So let go of that unnecessary stress.
- Give up self defeating talk. It’s a form of self sabotage.
- Give up blame. Your happiness, confidence and self esteem have nothing to do with others. Don’t point the finger of blame elsewhere for your lot in life - instead, change the way you view any situation, get rid of those limiting beliefs because true happiness starts from within so you have to change the filter of your inner lens.
- Give up attachment. Attachment keeps us dependant which keeps us firmly stuck in unwanted situations. Practice appreciation with an attitude of gratitude.
- Give up the need to rescue others. Rescuing or saving others distracts us so that we don’t have to face our own shortcomings. Be courageous and determined and turn inward. Heal or rescue yourself instead. You are worth it.

I Got Nothin’
I did not win $150million.
I spent the morning learning how to launch an online business idea and laying down some more ideas to add to the online challenge that I’m planning.
It’s bloody slow going, but I’m letting it flow naturally. It will happen when it happens, but I’d like it to come to fruition before the end of 2020.
Meanwhile I’d like my health classes at The Happy Abode to start at the beginning of 2020 and those classes will be like quality control with participants helping hone the information that will go online.
Adoring Husband and I ate our takeaway lunch in the pool area today. I went up to my thighs in the water and seriously considered going for a swim, but chickened out. It was a nice way to spend a couple of hours before getting into the art mood,
I created a piece for an art group challenge entitled ‘Fire and Ice”
I didn’t like this one ...
... so I changed it to this ...
I’ve got some ideas for tomorrow, so watch this space.
I was happy with the outcome of The Bachelor tonight. Yes! I watch it religiously!
In case you were wondering, I was feeling very much under the weather last night, which is why I missed doing the blog post.
I had only slept for two hours on Tuesday night and then I worked on Wednesday. I think the lack of sleep caught up with me and I was asleep by 8.30pm.
Now it’s 10.30pm and I’m off to bed again!

Bath Not Art
Morning coffee with the girls was a bit light on today.
At 9.15am, The Motivator and I were joined by The Welsh Wonder. There were just the three of us for 30 minutes and The Blonde Bombshell appeared with a container full of delicious slice. It was delicious!
It was also nice to catch up with TBB because she hasn’t been able to attend coffee for some time.
We certainly missed The Brains Trust, Lady Lynn and Beauty who all shared a movie date and the other girls, Maid Marian and Aggie who are on Grandparent duties.
I don’t know what time it was when I left the shop, but I rode the long way home and wished I had my camera with me ...
... when I arrived home, my first duty was to give psychotic dog Ruby a haircut and bath. I still haven’t clipped her claws, but that’s a job for another day.
After that, I did some cleaning in the studio.
I cooked up some lunch and then ran out of energy, so I parked my butt on the couch and that’s where I stayed until it was time to prepare dinner.
Adoring Husband cooked our steaks on the barbecue while I prepared the salad.
Done.
I’ll be working tomorrow so I’ll be attending early meditation. Best get some sleep.

All About Art
Thats what today was all about.
I had the opportunity to go into The Bay with Adoring Husband, but as you know, I had some ideas for art projects today and I didn’t want to waste any creative time.
My first project went according to plan and I’m happy with my first sunflower ...
...but I will definitely practice some more. I can imagine BIG sunflowers on BIG canvases. I can also picture a triptych with three different coloured flowers - maybe deep red, orange and yellow.
My second project did NOT go according to plan and I covered it with greens and blues and used a straw to blow it out. I’m not happy with it, but it’s done on an elcheapo canvas from Kmart, so it’s no great loss.
By the third project, I fell back on something that I know and love with some colourful flowers in a garden. It’s nothing special but it’s acceptable.
The water in the pool is still too cold for swimming.
I’m dreaming of our new bed now, thinking about culling some shoes in the bedroom spring clean and imagining how fabulous it will all look when the suite finally arrives.
For now, I’m off to bed so I can be fresh for some more art tomorrow!

It’s a Gift
What a beautiful day!
I posted these photos on my Facebook page and nobody notice the strange looking fin in the water (middle pic). I didn't notice it when I took the photo either!
We ate at Whale Bay Asian Cuisine.
The ladies lunches have been held at this restaurant a couple of times, but I was unable to attend, so this was our first experience there. They had good GF options and the atmosphere was lovely. The service was warm, friendly and efficient. The food was delicious. We’ll return in the future.
Adoring Husband decided, on the way home, to stop at a bed sale.
Our current bed is 16 years old and AH’s side has such a bad slope, I'm surprised that he hasn't fallen out of bed yet!
So we found a really nice bedroom suite in a beachy style washed timber. It was 30% off and has a king bed frame with a bed head (I realised today that I have never in my life had a bed head!), two side tables and a tall boy. Then we selected a king sized mattress at 50% off.
There was no second guessing and it just felt right. It'll be about 6 weeks before we get it so that's plenty of time to clear out our bedroom, take the tree decal off the wall and wash the walls and remove my 600 pairs of shoes from the room.
See those big drawers at the end of the bed? Maybe my shoes will fit in there??? I may have to do some culling.
This afternoon we watched my team get annihilated by Parramatta in the biggest final's loss in NRL history. Shameful and embarrassing.
I have a couple of ideas for some art tomorrow. I'm tempted to stay up late tonight and try one of them, but both will take a bit more time than my usual methods, so I need to be clear headed and well rested.
So, I'm off to bed now!
Nite all.
