Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Relaxed

 Restoring trust in public health

I watched Christmas movies all day today.

I love Christmas movies.

This morning I swam for an hour with Harley and this afternoon I practiced Qigong under the Bali hut.

Honey chicken with baked veg for dinner.

YouTube trivia.

One of my favourite movies, Calamity Jane, was on tonight. I wasn’t going to watch it but after 2 minutes I was hooked and had to watch it to the end!

Time to sleep.

It’s Definitely Christmas

After much discussion and mind changing this morning, Adoring Husband decided to stay at home while BGWLBH and I drove into The Bay with a very long ‘to do’ list.

The traffic was horrendous and finding a car space to park was a challenge in itself.

Our first stop was Dan Murphy’s.

We don’t drink.

For some reason, we decided that we would drink alcohol over Christmas and New Year.

As we reached the entrance to Dan’s (9.10am), there was a steady stream of people exiting with trolleys loaded with all kinds of alcohol. When I say ‘steady stream’, I mean a ‘Niagara Falls’ of trolleys!

There were so many people inside Dan’s, that we had trouble navigating our way through the aisles!

We purchased 4 x pineapple vodka cruisers, 4 x lychee vodka cruisers, mango/lime margarita mix, pina colada mix and a small bottle of vodka.

From there we went to Petbarn to get some liver treats and a Christmas present for Harley.

We battled our way through Stocklands to various stores and because there had been an accident at one of the main exits, we had to join a long queue at the Aldi exit. It was slow moving and a little frustrating.

By the time we’d finished and started heading home, it was 1pm.

Starving for lunch.

We’ve had some more good rain today. 20mm in 24 hours!

Now I need to sleep.

So Much Love

Wednesday was the end of year celebration for meditation.

Because of work or holidays, there was only three of us. The Gypsy, Heart of Gold and ME!

The Gypsy had booked a room at a resort in The Bay for three nights so Heart of Gold picked me up at 8.30am and we drove to the resort.

For two hours we sat on the balcony, drinking coffee, eating GF morning tea and chatting.

We decided to walk 500m to The Spotted Goat cafe for an early lunch which was absolutely delicious!

On the walk back to the resort, we stopped and sat in the shade overlooking the beach and chatted for another hour.

Back at the room we changed into our togs/swimmers/bathers and jumped into the pool while it was quiet. We had an hour of peaceful floating and swimming before the holiday families took over.

Next we received juggling lessons from the Gypsy. A tough task that filled the room with laughter and little success!

The Gypsy then read our cards.

After 8 fun hours, it was time to pack up our goodies and head home.

Luckily, Adoring Husband and BGWLBH had organised their own dinner so I didn’t have to concern myself with cooking.

It was a long enjoyable day and I slept well that night.

Yesterday was a lovely day with Heart of Gold 💛 who wanted to create a vision board. She’d never done one before and after 3 hours we were still only part way finished. Here is mine so far …

The woman on the throne is something that we discussed in our last meditation class. We should be able to (metaphorically) sit on our peaceful throne and not be affected by the craziness of the world around us.

When friends, family or others bait us with their nastiness or try to drag us unto their drama, our peaceful throne can keep us calm, lovingly detached and unaffected.

This is my imagined throne.

We had home made burgers for dinner last night and followed that up with some trivia.

There has been some lovely rain falling and the forecast is for much more over the coming week so we’re expecting a wet Christmas which is okay by me!

It’s currently 7.30am and I am still in bed. Harley is asking to be let out of his bed so I’d best get moving.

Have a lovely day everyone!

Good morning all.

Final Meditation

It was the final meditation of the year and we managed a two hour session, forfeiting the Qi Gong.

We couldn’t have asked for a better way to end the year.

I arrived home at 11am and filled the next three hours, with Adoring Husband, trouble shooting admin/email/payment/banks/finances etc.

It was draining.

AH had picked up some GF goodies from the bakery so we sat together over a cup of tea, profiteroles and citrus tart.

I packaged Harley’s food for the freezer.

The grocery delivery arrived and needed to be unpacked. It was a big order.

The courier delivered our gift from Melbourne.

Harley got play time.

I threw dinner together with leftovers and scraps.

We played trivia.

I have a big day planned for tomorrow and it’s on the way to midnight so …

Another Day

"This is the part of my life where I silently remove myself from anyone who hurts me more than they love me, drains me more than they replenish me, brings me more stress than they do peace, and tries to stunt my growth rather than clap for it.

I think that I’ve done more than enough talking and trying to make things work with certain people…I’m done."

( Cici.B – The CrimsonKiss )

What is there to say about today?

I’ve watched more than my share of Christmas movies - all with the same storylines and set in similar small snow packed towns in USA.

I watched the finale of Love Island and my favourite couple won (Tyra and Kale).

I caught Harley doing this …

An interesting, but too long, a story to tell here.

I swam this afternoon in a very lukewarm pool. Hardly refreshing.

Cold roast chicken, garden salad, potato and leftover spinach pie for dinner.

Now it’s time to sleep.

Cookathon

After playing with Harley, I headed straight for the kitchen.

I chopped up all the vegetables for Harley’s meals and put them on to boil.

I made mushroom soup and ate a bowl of it with some toast, then froze the rest.

I picked a LOT of silver beet and chard from the garden and made a spinach and feta pie …

I cooked up some lamb mince with mushroom and onion and made little lamb pies …

I cooked a whole chicken and made a salsa with tomato, capsicum, onion, grapes, avocado and radish.

A very full and successful day in the kitchen.

Australia defeated Pakistan in the first test in Perth.

Nathan Lyon got his 500th wicket.

Adoring Husband got some work done.

BGWLBH spent the day in The Bay.

Harley got plenty of play time.

I swam!

Now I shall sleep.

Heart Bruising

It has been a day full of tears and sadness.

Actually, the first half of the day was calm and relaxing.

At 1pm I rode my trike to the Welsh Wonder’s house. Her amazing husband passed away seven weeks ago and I had not made contact, nor had I attended his funeral. This visit was long overdue and I was feeling both guilty and remorseful.

I spent three hours with her.

She needed someone.

She has needed someone for the last seven weeks.

It was an incredibly emotional afternoon. Many, many tears were shed. Stories were told. Memories were shared. Drinks were drunk. Promises were made.

I left there feeling completely drained.

Completely drained.

I arrived home with ten minutes to spare before the start of the streamed funeral of Vegan Chickie’s good friend in Perth.

I met him for the first time twenty years ago and again at Vegan Chickie’s first wedding. We were friends on Facebook and I watched him grow from a young adult with plans and goals, to a man with a very successful design career, a loving father to twin boys and nurtured a wonderful relationship with his husband whom he married not that long ago.

There were approximately 200 people in attendance at this funeral and another 200 streaming. He was highly respected in his field and well loved by his friends and family, which was evident in the beautiful words spoken by those strong enough and brave enough to stand up and speak.

I was sobbing from the minute it started and struggled to gain control for the first thirty minutes. I watched his young boys sitting directly in front of the coffin in the front row wiping their eyes as they cried and I wept for the fact that they would live without this amazing example of a human for the rest of their lives.

I cried for Vegan Chickie who lost a close friend of 22 years and for whom she cared so deeply.

The service lasted for just over an hour.

It was heart breaking. My eyes were stinging and puffy. My voice was gravelly. It took all my effort to eat 3 chicken nibbles for dinner and I fell asleep on the couch directly after.

I’ve cried more today than I have in the last five years and I’m exhausted.

Now I need to sleep.

Socially Acceptable

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRs9xwiGabA&t=311s Don’t waste your time/health getting the Covid boosters.

My day began with Harley play (of course), followed by breakfast, washing clothes and TV time.

I received a phone call from a distressed lady struggling with her husband who has Parkinson’s, so I offered to meet her for coffee.

At 1pm I pedalled to the coffee shop where we sat for a bit over an hour while she vented her frustrations and I offered some small tidbits of advice.

While we were there, MANY locals passed us, including old friends who I’d not seen for months and one of whom I made arrangements to meet tomorrow after lunch.

Before I came home I purchased some postal packages from the post office, to send Christmas gifts to the kids and grandkids, so when I arrived home, I packed everything up and addressed the boxes to mail out today.

Adoring Husband drove me, firstly to the pub ‘drive through’ to purchase some alcohol for Christmas drinks with my art girls, and then to the location for said Christmas drinks. He then took the parcels to the post office to mail.

My afternoon with the girls was amazing. There were only five of us, but the perfect five. Lots of chatter and catching up, laughter, town news, family news, health news etc. A good two hours was enjoyed by us all and Christmas hugs upon parting.

Easy tacos and nachos for dinner followed by trivia for an hour.

Needless to say, I’m feeling a bit weary tonight. Sleep time for me.

Done and Dusted

I have two more gifts to purchase, which are online, otherwise my Christmas shopping is done and dusted.

Adoring Husband drove into The Bay this morning and took me to my desired locations for the final couple of gifts that I needed.

We even stumbled upon something for him to purchase for MY Christmas present - he already had two gifts for me, but this is something I’ve been looking at and considering for a year, so I’m a very happy girl!

Afterwards, he dropped me off to meet up with BGWLBH but first I went on the hunt for AH’s Christmas gifts.

I just realised that I don’t have anything for Harley! 😳

We were home by lunchtime, so we prepared some food and went our separate ways for the afternoon.

Harley got some play time and I made some fresh salads to go with leftover snags and chicken drumsticks for the team’s dinner. I passed on dinner because I was still satisfied from lunch.

Tomorrow afternoon I’ll be sharing Christmas drinks with the art girls and our pool should be topped up with magnesium so swimming will be on my daily ‘to do’ list.

Meanwhile I’m ready to sleep.
