Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Showery Day

Today’s forecast was for significant rain.

We received 30mm and that was mostly after 2.30pm.

We squeezed plenty of Harley play in, so he was happy.

While the old Aussie film, “Coolangatta Gold” was playing on the big screen TV - it’s not a good movie - Adoring Husband was watching something on his iPad and I was searching for an old Aussie movie that I thought was made around the same time as Coolangatta Gold (1984).

The movie I wanted was actually made in 1977 and had some top Aussies like Gus Mercurio, Grigor Taylor, Wendy Hughes and Judy Davis, but the star of the show and the one I was smitten with when I was 17 years old, was Joseph Bottoms, who is American.

It’s set in Surfers Paradise. Surfers Paradise 1977 …

Surfers Paradise 2025 …

This is Joseph Bottoms in the movie 1977 …

This is Joseph Bottoms now (ish) …

He was 65 here, but is now 70yrs old.

All very important and productive for the day (not).

Dinner was an interesting chicken concoction that I put together.

In a pan, (just larger than bite sized pieces) chicken thigh, salt and pepper, a tin of crushed tomatoes, 3T chicken coq au vin mixture spread over the top, pieces of bacon 2”x1” spread over the top, a carrot cut into small cubes and scattered evenly, last night’s leftover sweet potato & potato mash mixed with chopped spinach and grated cheese spread over the top of the mixture and toasted pine nuts scattered over the top.

Into the oven at 170°C, covered, for 25 mins, then uncovered at 190°C for another 25 mins.

Served with garlic snow peas.

It went down a treat and AH went back for seconds.

The three of us made a video of us singing for Mr Perfect’s 40th birthday, which was hilarious, and also went down a treat.

We played trivia for half an hour.

MAFS dinner party night.

Scrublands final episode … what a great series! Only four episodes but kept me interested the whole way.

Now it’s almost 11pm so it’s time to sleep!

Nite all.
