Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Stormy Night

I am exhausted.

At 2am I woke to the sound of a massive storm with rain so heavy, I thought it might be hail. I could hear the wind as the rain stopped and started and I could hear the rain hitting other house rooftops, getting louder as it got closer to us.

There was thunder and lightning and our rain gauge showed 110mm.

There was clear evidence in the back yard of minimal flooding with a line of bark chips over the pathway showing the flow of water and a fairly deep hole under one of our down pipes where, obviously, the volume of water on the roof was far too big for the gutters and down pipes to cope.

The pool was full to the brim and the furniture under the Bali hut was still damp 4 hours after the weather had cleared.

I lay awake, unable to return to dreamland, until almost 5am. All up, I estimate that I enjoyed 2.5 hours of sleep. One hour pre-storm and 1.5 hours post-storm.

I napped on the couch while watching a movie “King Arthur. Legend of the Sword”. This was a recommendation from BGWLBH but I didn’t enjoy it.

My second movie was “The Idea of You” with Anne Hathaway. I didn’t mind that one. It was light and fluffy, a bit of romance, a bit of drama, a bit of fun and no brain work required.

‘Fend for yourself’ night and I crumbed some snapper for myself. This morning, I crumbed some prawns and shallow fried them for breakfast. I also enjoyed 2 Bowen mangos. Fresh, sweet and juicy. So delicious.

I made my ‘to do’ list last night but without sleep, I didn’t have the energy to start work on it. Hopefully, after a good sleep tonight, I’ll get started tomorrow.

Right now, I’m lying in bed watching the T20 cricket match between Australia and Pakistan. It’s close.

I think I’ll put the timer on because I feel that I’ll be asleep very soon.

Nite all.
