Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Editing Frenzy

So yesterday I attended a wedding that I never imagined would happen.

I was hired as the photographer, but ended up being ‘location finder for the ceremony’, director of the bride and groom and music co-ordinator for their entrance, arranger of the cake cutting and first dance while being at the right place at the right time for each photograph opportunity.

I was on site at 2.30pm and home by 6.30pm.

Today I discovered muscles that I forgot that I had.

My shoulder blades are sore from holding 3kgs of camera + lens up to my face for 3 hours.

My legs are sore from 4 hours of standing, walking, running, bending, lowering myself to the ground and dragging myself back up again.

My brain is sore from sorting through 500 photos and editing 200 of them.

They sure got their money’s worth out of me.

So I’ve basically been living, eating and breathing the wedding for the last 30 hours. I even dreamt about it last night.

I’d love to share a pic or two here today but that would not be ethical, so watch this space in the next couple of weeks.

I only missed one game in my footy tips this weekend. If the Broncos hadn’t let me down, I’d have had a perfect round!

I’m now 8 points ahead on the ladder - still bragging because that could change at any time!

Tonight I cooked barramundi steaks with lemon butter sauce and served it with roast pumpkin and spinach salad and pickled tomato and cucumber.

Meditation tomorrow so I need to sleep.

Nite all.
