Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

High Motivation

Today was very productive.

I was up at 8am.

Made my cup of tea to take out to the pool area with Harley, where we played until 9am.

I decided on prawn dumplings for breakfast.

Before he left for golf, I watched The Great Pottery Throwdown and The Great Australian Bake off finale with Adoring Husband.

As he left, I made my way into my bedroom with the vacuum cleaner. Like a good removalist, I took everything out of the room (except the bed, the side tables and dressing table) so that I had a completely clear floor to get on my hands and knees and vacuum with the hose only.

The combination of Harley hair and my hair in the carpet was a nightmare! It took a while.

I then washed the inside of the six windows followed by washing the plantation shutters.

I emptied out the four side table drawers, washed them out, decluttered and then swapped them over - I am changing to the other side of the bed and putting Harley in the opposite corner of the room so that I have easier access to my ensuite.

I washed my very large bedside lamps.

The previous day, I sorted through my journals. I have two shoe boxes of unused journals and two boxes of journals currently in use …

All of the jobs today took three hours.

I got to watch half of my quiz shows, took Harley out to play in the rain for 20 minutes and came inside to prepare dinner - nice and easy nachos made with turkey mince.

The new series of British Sewing Bee started tonight and when that finished, I could hear my bed calling.

I’m certainly feeling weary.

Nite all.
