Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Two More

Surprisingly, I crossed two more items off my ‘to do’ list today.

I’ve mentioned it before, but to remake my bed after washing everything - two sheets, six pillow cases, two body pillow cases and a coverlet - takes 35 minutes. It is utterly exhausting!

My king sized mattress weighs a freaking ton and the bed frame fits snugly around it, so I have to squeeze my hands between the frame and mattress to attempt lifting it high enough to tuck the sheets under it.

I almost busted my fufu valve!

Two of my pillows are very thick memory foam and trying to slip pillowcases over them is like putting on a pair of spanks two sizes too small. It’s a struggle.

Body pillows are also a struggle.

I just needed to announce it loudly to the household when I’d finally finished!

Adoring Husband suggested that I call for his help next time, which is a lovely gesture, but it would take longer if he assisted.

I’m getting too old for this $#1t!

In between hanging wet washing, folding clean washing, making the bed, partially decluttering my wardrobe and playing with Harley twice, I also coloured in and watched plenty of TV.

AH put some effort into a lasagne for dinner tonight. It was from a 1970s Women’s Weekly recipe book and quite delicious.

Meditation and hoop qi gong tomorrow, so I’d best get some sleep in my lovely clean bed.

Nite all.
