Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

An Early Start

I was asleep by 10pm Sunday night, so when I woke up at 4am on Monday, I was wide awake!

Instead of getting out of bed, I turned on the TV and watched the end of the final round of the Cadillac golf championship.

An American, Cam Young, was the winner, but the Aussie, Adam Scott, played incredibly well in the final two rounds and came fourth. His final two rounds were super impressive, it’s just a shame that his first two rounds were so poor.

I actually got out of bed at 8am to the sound of shocked gasps from Adoring Husband and BGWLBH. The only reason I usually get out of bed this early is if I’m going somewhere!

It meant that I had an extra 2 hours to fill for the day.

I’m sure you’re not surprised when I say I did nothing productive in that time. A load of washing, some gardening, Harley play and I cooked some prawn and rice noodle soup for my lunch.

I watched a Foxtel movie that I can’t remember the name of and by 2pm I was ready for a nap, so I took Harley with me to the bedroom. He harassed me by laying across my chest and nudging me with either his paw or nose, so I didn’t get any sleep at all.

At 4pm, I decided to start dinner. Chicken Saltimbocca with mashed potato, green beans and snow peas. Always delicious.

We played trivia for an hour before watching some TV comedy and I came to bed at 9.30pm.

I will be falling asleep to the sound of Kevin Costner’s voice in The Bodyguard.

Tomorrow, BGWLBH and I are going to the cinema to watch “The Devil Wears Prada 2”. I’ve read some disappointing reviews tonight. I hope we are not disappointed too.

Anyway, time to sleep so that we can leave early.

Nite all.
