Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Voluntary Kitchen Duties

It was a dull, grey, rainy day.

Not heavy rain, just light steady, annoying rain that did not let up until late this afternoon.

Since I couldn’t go out on my trike, I decided to spend the day in the kitchen.

I made:
  • Fish and vegetable pasties
  • Hungarian Goulash
  • Creamed vegetable soup
  • Wiener Schnitzels x 12
  • Banana bread
  • 6 x Wagyu steaks
Our butcher had a snap sale on Wagyu beef for just 24 hours, so we bought 3kgs. I asked them to thinly slice some of it so that I could crumb it. I made goulash with 1kg and Adoring husband sliced the remaining chunk into good sized steaks for the barbecue.

I only took pics of the fish and vegetable pasties…

It was a solid 5 hours in the kitchen and I’m feeling pretty weary, but not counting the banana bread or the pasties, I made 24 meals with the beef, which equates to $3.62 per meal. Good budgeting!

I don’t know if I have it in me to stay awake for the tennis tonight. I made it to 2am this morning watching Sinner win in five sets. I’d like to watch Maya Joint play Serena Williams and De Minaur  vs Burruchaga tonight.

So I’m off to watch some tennis.

Nite all.
