Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Kitchen Marathon

Awake at 7.30am.

Out of bed at 10am.

Adoring Husband had already left for golf. BGWLBH was emptying the dishwasher.

I played with Harley for 30 minutes.

I made myself presentable for going out in public and rode my trike to the shops where I bought enough meat for a marathon in the kitchen, some goodies for BGWLBH, some vegetables, some cheesecake ingredients and a coffee for me.

Of course, upon my return home, I headed straight for the kitchen and made -

  • 24 sausage rolls
  • 8 meals of spaghetti bolognese sauce
  • 4 meals of creamy chicken shepherds pie
  • 4 meals of chilly chicken to be served with pasta
I had planned on doing curried chicken and vegetables, but I ran out of space in the freezer, so I need to do a reorganisation of freezer drawers before my next cook up - tomorrow or Thursday.

I also plan on doing Mongolian Lamb with Leek and Rice for tomorrow nights dinner.

My Apple Watch tells me that I did 5000 steps today! Most of that was in the kitchen!

AH and BGWLBH selected sausage rolls for their dinner, so now I only have 12 left (they are small sausage rolls - about half the size of the ones from the bakery). I had one of them.

I have to say, that after the trike ride and four hours in the kitchen, I am exhausted!

So it’s sleep time for me.

Nite all.
