Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Wind in the Hair

I forced myself out of bed after 10am today.

I was awake at 7am but I love my bed and my room. It’s my happy place and I would spend many more hours here if I could.

The first item on the agenda was taking my clothes off the line, followed by Harley play and then watering my vegetables.

My trike was calling me, so I made myself presentable for public viewing and off I went for a longish ride.

I ran into a neighbour on the way out of the driveway so I stopped for a quick chat before heading off.

I took the long way and some back roads to eventually find the path to the river.

It was very windy, but the day was quite glorious and even though the tide was low, the river looked as beautiful as ever. I took the path all the way from the Lions Park to the old boat ramp and then on to a friend’s house and found her sitting on her front porch with her husband so I stopped for a chat with her too.

When I left home, I asked BGWLBH if she needed anything from the shop and she requested some kind of dip so I pedalled on to the local centre.

There were some young kids tear-arsing around on their bikes, being loud and obnoxious, so I decided not to stop just yet and went for another view of the river for 15 minutes hoping they would move on. I didn’t trust that I could safely leave my trike unattended while they were around.

Sad but true.

Upon my return, no kids in sight, so I stopped to shop. I’d planned to get some chicken breasts from the butcher as well, but after the supermarket, I forgot. That’s twice I’ve ridden all that way and then forgotten to get something on my ‘minds’ list!

I was gone from home for an hour.

After touching base with Adoring Husband, I planted myself in front of the TV and watched a fluffy romance on Netflix. I followed that up with “Superintelligence” with Melissa Macarthy.

I made prawn Laksa soup for my ‘fend for yourself’ dinner and sat down for the football. I’m having a disaster round for my footy tipping! Only one correct so far - lucky it’s a short round because of State of Origin.

Now it’s way after midnight and I’m watching the golf as I write this. Time to sleep.

Nite all.
