Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Feeling Zombified

Last night I dozed during the tennis matches leading up to the Djokovic match which commenced around 2.30am.

I remained awake for the entire 5 hours 15 minutes worth of play.

What a great win by Djokovic - although I feel that his 39 yr old body won’t be able to manage a tough match against Sinner tomorrow night.

I texted Adoring Husband at 5.16am to get me a coffee while he was at the shops after work, but unfortunately the Telstra connection was down so he didn’t receive the message until after 7am. I thought the caffeine would help keep me awake.

By the time he provided the coffee, the match was over, so I didn’t even need it.

Since I was up early and BGWLBH had an appointment in the Bay, I decided to accompany her.

I updated my lotto tickets and did a quick scan of some Stocklands shops. The butcher received a visit from me, as did Choice and the Jam Jar.

BGWLBH’s appointment took a bit longer than expected, so we didn’t reach home until after 3pm.

I took Harley out to play and immediately prepared a rich vegetable soup for BGWLBH because she’s been feeling a bit poorly and has to work tomorrow.

AH cooked Wagyu steaks on the barbecue and a few pork sausages while I served up potato with sour cream, wombok salad, garden salad and coleslaw. Very filling and the steaks melted in the mouth. It’s been a long time since I ate a steak! AH cooked them to perfection.

Now I’m going to fall asleep to the sound of tennis. There are no games that I’m excited about tonight and I need to be up early to go into the Bay again. I’m meeting up with an old workmate. Haven’t seen her for 23 years so there’s a lot to catch up on, including, sadly, the passing of her daughter who was the same age as my Vegan Chickie.

It’s already 11pm so I’m outta here.

Nite all.
