Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Distractions

We had an early start so I was out of bed at 6am, out the door at 7.15am, sitting down in a coffee shop at 7.50am and off on a solo shopping jaunt at 8.30am.

People seemed to share their ages a lot today.

The woman working in the lady’s boutique told me that she is 72yrs old.

The woman working in the craft store told me that she is 74yrs old.

A woman shopping in Choice told me that she is 84yrs old.

The checkout chick in Coles told me that she is 53yrs old.

The girl working in the bakery was telling her co-worker that she just turned 33yrs old.

It was a less than successful shopping day for me.

I tried on many tops without success.

I searched for pretty hand made dresses for Hazie in the craft store without success.

I looked in Choice for a crafty gift for BGWLBH without success.

I checked all my lotto tickets from last week without success.

I visited Big W hoping to find a Clarins lipstick that I’ve been searching for, without success.

I WAS able to get everything on my food shopping list so at least I had success there.

We arrived home before Adoring Husband did because he played golf in Childers.

He had received a phone call from one of our neighbours to say that they lost one of their dogs to a brown snake bite last night.

The worrying thing for us, was that Harley threw up before AH went to golf, so our imaginations went a little bit crazy.

It was a huge relief to arrive home and see Harley sitting at the gate wagging his tail ready to welcome me home.

AH had last night’s leftovers for dinner, while I made a small honey soy sesame chicken with boiled rice for BGWLBH.

We played trivia before watching the football. I’m pleased to say that Dolphins defeated Penrith Panthers and I tipped the winner correctly so I am now 2 points ahead on our tipping ladder! Wahoo!

Now it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.
