Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Advantageous

While I don’t understand why we have the Black Friday sales in Australia because it originated in USA on the day after Thanksgiving, I got to take advantage of the sales today and replaced some of my t-shirts that darling Harley has destroyed in his first year of puppyhood.

I purchased five lady’s t-shirts at $13 each! Bargain!

I tried, again, to find Adoring Husband’s Clive Cussler book but it’s still on the truck heading towards our QBD bookstore and should arrive some time this week.

Our pool is in dire need of assistance from a pool maintenance professional, so I stopped at Poolside in Main Street and applied for their gold service. Hopefully we’ll hear from them soon.

It was great to have Su Jus cafe reopened and we grabbed juices today. Their signs said they were closed for refurbishing, but it doesn’t look any different to me. Maybe they just wanted a holiday?

Despite my trip into The Bay, Harley still got plenty of play time with me.

We received some nice light rain this evening.

Now I’m off to sleep. As long as the rain isn’t heavy, I have meditation and Qi Gong tomorrow. The Gypsy won’t drive the 2.5 hour return trip in heavy rain. Wait and see.

Women’s Healing

It has been a long, healing, inspiring, sharing, fun and life affirming kind of day.

Nine of us attended the Women’s Healing Retreat at Dallarnil.

We meditated.

We floated to the sound of crystal singing bowls.

We practised Qi Gong to the most beautiful music that made my skin tingle https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=enefKWxp4ZE.

We shared our powers and our vices and epiphanies.

We coloured in.

We wrote inspiring messages to each other.

We received beautiful blessings.

We gave each other loving affirmations.

We ate fresh, healthful, vegetarian food made by each of us with love.

It was a beautiful day.

This was my fourth retreat run by The Gypsy and each one is better than the last. She runs these retreats as a free service but has a donation box at the door. I willingly popped $70 into the box and still feel the day was worth more. If I’d taken my wallet with me, I’d have put more in at the end of the day.

When your heart and mind are open to healing, these days are truly exhilarating.

I arrived home at 5.30pm and, thanks to my forethought and Adoring Husband’s barbecuing skills, dinner was served ten minutes later.

As tired as I was, I watched a movie on Netflix before coming to bed.

Now I’m well and truly ready for bed and sleep.

Well Rested

No art today.

After I played with Harley, I made myself a bacon and egg sandwich, a cup of tea and I returned to bed, where I watched a series of “Portrait Artist of the Year”.

It’s on my bucket list to learn how to paint a portrait. I wouldn’t even know where to start.

I stayed in bed until 2.30pm.

I played with Harley again and crumbed some chicken thighs, made potato salad, coleslaw and a garden salad for dinner, which we ate early.

Afterwards we played trivia on the smart TV via YouTube.

Tomorrow I’m off to a Women’s Healing Retreat at Dallarnil so I had to prepare a vegetarian plate to take with me.

I decided on rice paper rolls filled with carrot, cucumber, snow peas, apple, capsicum, radish, spring onions, avocado, vermicelli noodles and I made a peanut dipping sauce and a spicy honey soy dressing to choose from.

I was up until 10.30pm doing that!

Now it’s 11.30pm so I’d best get some sleep!

Oh and Happy birthday to Lady Lynn and my sister Squirt for today (25th)! I hope both of your days were memorable in all good ways.

Too Old

I’m getting too old for this s#%t!

Spent the day in The Bay.

Purchased all of the art pens and supplies that I needed so I can’t wait to get into the art space tomorrow and get some more done, maybe even finish!

The car was loaded up to the brim with all the groceries and our other shopping. We stopped to pick up our double order of eggs and drove on to Farm Gate for some extra goodies.

It took forever to unload the car, unpack the bags and then pack everything away. Harley was very patiently waiting to play so after we did that, I made the marinade for the chicken, then bagged all the dog bones separately and filled the bottom drawer of the freezer.

By the time dinner was ready, I could barely keep my eyes open.

We attempted to watch a movie, but by 8pm, I was done.

It’s time for me to sleep.

Mucking About

I can’t do more to my other art until I can purchase some different coloured fine tipped acrylic art pens, so while I was sitting in front of the TV watching a fluffy Christmas movie, I did a scribble piece in my art journal.

Not everyone’s cup of tea. Haha. It’s also not finished and I doubt whether I will finish it. We all get the gist.

An absolutely nothing day today.

I received a call from Number One Son who is back in hospital in Perth. Hopefully he’ll get the help that he needs soon. It seems to me that the medical establishment take just a bit too long to provide what I consider “urgent” help with mental health issues.

Vegan Chickie lost a good friend a couple of days ago both unexpectedly and suddenly. I know she’s struggling with his passing. It was shocking to everybody who knew him and he was very popular and well loved.

He leaves behind a husband and ten year old twin boys. Devastating for everyone.

Today (as you’re reading this) it’s 26 years since my father passed and BGWLBH’s mother would have turned 83yrs old.

Quite a bit of emotional stuff happening.

It’s almost midnight so I think I’ll sleep now.

I think it’s hilarious that some man out there (the one that wrote this) believes that he’s doing all of these things! There is not a man alive who is all of these things!

He’s right though … it’s what we women dream of haha.

I did some more to my art today …

Still a long way to go and most of these things that look finished, are not. I need some more pens, paint, brushes and different colours to finish off.

I sketched in some more shells and seaweed …

It gets a bit overwhelming sometimes, trying to figure out the composition and the colours, but I’ll get there eventually.

It’s been a quiet day. No more rain. No trips to The Bay.

Now it’s sleep time.

Drenching

We’ve received 80mm of rain in less than 48 hours!

Perfect.

We could do with a bit more yet.

I actually rode my trike in the rain to meditation and Qi Gong. The BOM showed nothing in the way of rain over our town so I figured it would be short lived.

How wrong was I?

I have now learned, after a number of observations, that the BOM is far from reliable and I should not trust what I see on their site!

Needless to say, I spent a lot of time either waiting for the rain to ease, or riding IN the rain.

Meditation was fantastic, as was Qi Gong and my 90 minute session with The Gypsy.

During a break in the rain, I got to play with Harley. He started out very keen but seemed to lose interest quickly so after 20 minutes, he was done.

Speaking of Harley, it’s one year today since he came to live with us!

Tonight’s dinner was honey soy chicken with rice and lightly fried carrot, zucchini and beans

It was a hit.

Now I need to sleep.
