Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

First Day

So much to do .. I think I need to channel my 'time management' skills from my working days.

My plans for today included visiting my boys at the Seat of Knowledge, grabbing my coffee, coming home to make bacon and eggs for Adoring Husband, bring out the slow cooker for a batch of chicken bone broth, prepare the vegetables for fermentation, make lunch and then spend the rest of the day studying before the football started at 3pm.

I was able to do everything on that list except the fermented vegetables .. the containers needed to be sterilised through the dishwasher and time ran out, so I'll put that on top of my list for tomorrow.

Our big breakfast of bacon, eggs, tomato, mushrooms and avocado was not enough to keep AH full for very long!! Three hours later he had a plate full of chilli lime chicken nibbles with a big salad of romaine lettuce, tomato, onion, avocado and cucumber with a tangy dressing. Finally, for dinner tonight, we had lamb's fry and bacon with mushroom and onion.

Today I studied the 'Central Nervous System' - the cerebral cortex, basal nuclei, thalamus, hypothalamus, cerebellum and the brain stem. The brain and the spinal cord are intriguing and I'm looking forward to this section of my studies.

We are experiencing beautiful cool weather at the moment. Excellent sleeping weather. It's 10pm and 17C. Tomorrow will only reach 22C. This is my ideal weather and puts a very happy smile on my dial.

I think I shall crawl into bed right now. A good night's sleep will prepare me for a solid day of study.

Nite all.

I'm Home!

Touching base briefly again.

Adoring Husband drove south to pick me up this morning and after spending about an hour playing hide n seek with Chicklet, we drove off to the sounds of her distraught cries. I spent 4 days with her, and AH spent a total of 2 hours in her presence, but it was 'Poppy' who she begged to stay!!

It was difficult to leave her but we did and I introduced AH to the Kunara Organic Market where we started with coffee and raw blueberry cheesecake before shopping at the supermarket and the butcher.

I love that place.

We got a nice stash of organic meat and a couple of boxes of organic fruit and veg. We also bought some organic veg seedlings as well as a soursop bush to plant in our back yard.

We must have spent 2 hours at those markets and as we began to drive home, decided to stop at Eumundi and have lunch at the Bohemian Bungalow Restaurant and Bar. We partook of slow roasted pork belly with a wonderful salad drenched in the most delicious dressing. I enjoyed every mouthful.
Then we drove directly home.

It was great to get home.

Tomorrow, my plan is to finally get my kimchi started and another batch of chicken broth. I also have some organic lamb's fry that needs to be cooked because we bought it frozen but the esky didn't keep it cold enough (because we forgot to buy ice!).

I will also put in a couple of hours worth of study before the football starts in the afternoon.

I just want to mention Grannymus ... you are in my thoughts and I hope that you can build up your strength quickly so that you can head home to be with Grandpa soon. Lots of love being sent your way, along with positive strong energy. xoxox

I am feeling very worn out, so I think I will head off to bed right now.

Nite all.

Touching Base

Just a quick post to touch base.

Chicklet and I have been very busy playing all sorts of games from craft activities (decorating butterflies) to swinging on the swing, playing 'follow the leader', puppet shows, tag you're it, thief, watching dvds, reading books, hide n seek, dinosaur games, lining up the ducks and much more.

Yesterday we had almost the entire day together while Mama and Dadu went out for lunch and enjoyed a movie.

Today, we had a delicious breakfast at 'Sunspace'. I ordered a goats cheese omelette with caramelised onion, kimchi and avocado. It was served with gluten free toast and a tomato chutney. It was sooooo nice! The coffee was also delicious.

There is a huge open grassed area outside the restaurant where kids can play, with a circle of big tree stumps that kids like to jump across (and is very popular) as well as raised timber circles of timber boards to run around on. Child-sized chairs to sit in and timber blocks to play with. We made new friends and played around for almost 3 hours. It was a great way to spend a Wednesday morning!

I took photos but I won't edit them until I get home on the weekend.

Tomorrow is the Playschool concert (which I mistakenly thought was today). I'm really looking forward to it and we will be lunching afterwards.

This afternoon we drove to the local shopping centre where Chicklet chose a plush rattle snake from the toy shop. It seemed like an odd toy to choose, but it hasn't left her hands all afternoon!

We had a Thai dinner delivered for dinner tonight .. my Thai Green Chicken Curry was particularly hot and spicy, but oh so delicious!

That's about it so far. Perhaps I'll drop by for another catch up tomorrow night :)

Nite all.

I'm off!

I had a lovely Mother's Day yesterday.

Adoring Husband delivered my coffee, fresh and delicious, and then made bacon, eggs, tomato and mushroom which he brought to me in bed.

I stayed in bed until after 11am. It was a lovely cool morning, so I stayed under the doona and sat up supported by a few pillows. I got a phone call from my little Chicklet angel and Vegan Chickie and then I spent a lazy morning reading.

There is no better way to spend Mother's Day morning.

I got a message from Bubbles the night before and a text from Number One Son later in the afternoon, so it was nice to hear from all the kids, in some form or another. The age of technology hey.

I haven't edited any more of the photos from the party yet.

Tomorrow, we leave bright and early, so that AH can drive me to the Sunny Coast and then he continues on to Brisvegas for his third check up.

As you know, I rarely have the chance to post on here the first night with Chicklet, so you may or may not see me here tomorrow :)

Have a lovely day!

Nite all.

Happy Snaps

It's only two minutes ...

Healthy Sustainable Living: This Family ate Only Organic for Two Weeks... Watc...: This  powerful 2 min video shows a family who was not eating organic due to cost.   They switched as part of a study to see what would hap...

Here are a bunch of happy snaps from Mardi's party last night. I haven't finished editing yet, but these are pretty good.

Birthday Celebrations

This is just a short post to say that we had a really lovely time tonight celebrating Mardi's birthday.

About 32 of us gathered together at the Bowls Club restaurant where I enjoyed some gluten free salt and pepper calamari with salad for dinner.

I also drank one whole bottle of wine + one glass of wine and I was the least drunk person at the end of the night .. actually, Adoring Husband may have been less drunk than me.

There were some mildly inebriated people at the end of the night .. ok there were some VERY inebriated people at the end of the night .. and I won't name names!! What happens at the Bowls Club stays at the Bowls Club!

I took lots of photos which I will share tomorrow, when I have time to sort through and edit them.

Anyway, a good time was had by all. Some dancing, some drinking, some eating, some laughing, some staggering and some hugging.

There may, or may not be some sore heads tomorrow.

It's past midnight, so I'm off to bed. Watch this space for photos tomorrow.

Nite all.
