Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Experimental

I'm not entirely happy with my results, but I'm entirely happy with my day of experimenting.

I woke up thinking that it was Good Friday and sat up in bed like Lady Muck enjoying the moment.

Then I realised that it was actually Saturday and that I should go into the shop because there are tourists everywhere and I've had plenty of time off.

Adoring Husband brought my celery juice and I texted The Motivator to tell her that I was coming to the shop but would be late.

She replied "Why are you coming in? It's absolutely fine."

She's a good egg.

Even though I miss the shop and feel almost like I've abandoned it, I am also really enjoying the time away and using my time to do stuff that is bringing me joy.

I went for a quick visit anyway and took some cards to put at Foodworks and deliver to the caravan parks.

AH and I did some grocery shopping before sneaking home through the throngs of tourists. The streets are lined with boat trailers and the road through the council caravan park is lined on both sides with vehicles, the queue at the supermarket was a mile long and thankfully, people have been visiting The Happy Abode all day!

It was a very fruitful day and hopefully tomorrow will be equally successful.

At lunch time I got ready to create and my first experiment was to make a wave. It's the first thing I ever wanted to do with this method of fluid art, but I got distracted by other ideas.

... then I attempted something else that was a complete failure, so I got my. hair dryer out and blew it to smithereens ...

... the result wasn't too disgusting and I will have another go with some more vibrant colours next time. The final piece that I did tonight was to put rows of colour across the canvas and then drag a wet cloth all the way along from one end to another. I like the result and the colours are very vibrant.

I have a couple of ideas for tomorrow and I only have three canvases left so I need to make the most of them!

The weather has been a bit strange today with scuds of dark heavy clouds containing heavy rain in short bursts. They appeared when we least expected them and disappeared as quickly as they hit. I imagine it was annoying for the campers and fisher people who are here for the fishing classic.

I didn't swim today, but I will tomorrow.

I hope that you are all having a lovely weekend and that you're spending happy times with loved ones over this Easter break.

I think I'm ready for bed now.

Nite all.

Dreaming Humming

Last night, I dreamt of a hummingbird drinking nectar out of a flower. The bird was so tiny and the most beautiful colours imaginable. I was excited because I love hummingbirds and I sat and watched it for ages. Nothing else happened in the dream and then I woke up.

So I looked for meanings. What does it mean when you dream of hummingbirds?

This is what I found ...

"Hummingbirds in a dream represent freedom and independence. You feel secure about your current actions and you know they will bring something good to you.

If you dream about a hummingbird, it means there is a lot of positive energy in your life currently and you should use this energy wisely to realise all your plans in the best possible way.

Hummingbirds represent how small ideas that seem unimportant, can make a big difference, so this can be a big motivation for you to start realising certain projects that you have forgotten about, but were important to you.

Dreaming about a Hummingbird drinking nectar out of a flower might be a warning sign to start enjoying life a bit more and stop worrying about small things."

So I take from this dream ...

My visions for this year, which included revisiting my website, creating an online course and finishing my book have been sitting on the back burner and I haven't even glanced at them. I think this dream is a sign that I should choose one of them and get moving on it.

Today, I woke at 6am but chose to close my eyes and sleep some more. I slept until about 8am.

Adoring Husband brought celery juice, chicken broth and coffee to my bedside (in that order) and I got out of bed just after 10.30am.

The pool was calling to me so I waded in and swam twelve laps of freestyle, 6 laps of backstroke and six laps of breast stroke. That's one lap short of 200 metres!

I followed up with some gentle stretching and exercises before drying off and doing some artwork.

The first one I did on Thursday night at 11pm and I was in bed by midnight! The other two I did today.

I've run out of safe drying spaces for the canvasses. I can't put them outside because it's too windy and they'll end up with bugs and dust and grass in the wet paint.

I'm already utilising two large cardboard boxes, the dining table and the couch in the family room.

So I have to stop painting until some of them dry and I can move them on to make space for the new ones.

We have a sour sop tree in the back yard, which is fruiting for the first time. It's been there for about five years so it's about time!

I've had a great day today.

Have a happy Saturday!

Nite all.

The Crowd Builds

The Easter Fishing Classic begins on Saturday, so the caravan parks are full and there are people EVERYWHERE!

This competition is always popular and families come back year after year to participate. Let's hope they find The Happy Abode.

I got out of bed late today. Adoring Husband brought my celery juice early. A bit later he brought my coffee. A bit later again he brought me some chicken broth fresh from the slow cooker.

At 11am I put on my swimmers and jumped into the pool. It was a bit fresh, but not uncomfortable. I swam a few laps and did a few exercises then sat on the edge of the pool in the warm sunshine for a bit.

I watched another youtube video on fluid art while AH drove to the supermarket to get some fresh salad stuff for lunch.

It was after lunch when I realised I hadn't been to the post office to send a very important package. A package that has been in the pipeline for 6 months and was promised some time ago. So we jumped in the car and rushed down to complete that chore.

We got coffee while we were there.

Art was on my mind, but so was Aquaman, so we sat down to watch the movie.

Good movie.

He is HOT.

I put some vegetables in the oven to have with that chicken I cooked yesterday and then proceeded to mix all my paints.

I got through about half of them before I remembered the vegetables, which was a bit scary because I forgot to put the timer on and it had been almost an hour! They were a little overdone.

We ate dinner and while AH was snoring in his chair, I returned to mix the remaining paints. I have 30 colours to play with tomorrow.

Sadly, I didn't get to paint today. We had a visitor mid movie and he stayed for about 30 minutes, so between the trip to the post office and our visitor, that cut into my painting time and now it looks like Good Friday will be my art day.

It better be a GOOD Friday!

So here are some Easter messages for everybody ...

... and on that note.

Nite all.

Another One Bites the Dust

Another day gone so quickly with nothing to show for 24 hours.

We had a guy come quote for a sun block blind on the Bali hut early this morning.

The Brains Trust visited bearing gifts - two delicious dragon fruit which were so sweet and juicy. Yum!

Adoring Husband and I then made ourselves presentable for public viewing and drove into The Bay to get an Apple connector so that I could do everything I've been needing to do for the past week but couldn't because I've lost my Apple connector!

You watch, now that I've spent a fortune on a new one, the old one will magically appear.

We bought lots of art supplies. New paints, some machine oil to keep me covered until I can get some Dimethicol Silicone Oil (which I've ordered online) and some different sized canvasses.

I'm ready to play big now!

We also bought the Aquaman dvd which I hope to watch tomorrow some time. I can't believe I haven't seen it yet!

I enjoyed a delicious Mint Condition juice from Boost and coincidentally bumped into The Brains Trust and The Garden Guru!

At 2pm, we were starving, so stopped for some salmon and avocado sushi and grabbed a takeaway coffee to drive home with.

I immediately sat down to do all those things I needed the connector for and then began to prepare dinner.

We had rolled chicken thighs stuffed with cheese and bacon ... although the cheese melted out of the thighs in the oven so really, there was only bacon left behind lol. This was served with a side salad.

While I prepared that, I also put a whole chicken to bake in the oven, filled the slow cooker with everything to make chicken broth and made up a tray of toffee nuts to have with the fruit whip ice cream that I made later. I'd bought some fresh raspberries today, so the fruit whip with those and sprinkled with toffeed nuts - so delicious.

Now, at 8.30pm, I'm exhausted!

I was thinking of working tomorrow (Thursday) but thankfully The Motivator has sent a text suggesting that I take some more time. I'm very grateful that she did that.

I think I need to clear out some cobwebs by taking a dip in the very cold pool tomorrow. I'll follow that with some painting/creating and then watch Aquaman.

I'm not sure if I'll go to the Club in the evening yet. I'll see how I feel.

Meanwhile, I'm off to bed.

Nite all.

Quick as a Blink

Where did the day go?

Coffee with the girls.

Catch up with The Motivator.

Grocery shopping.

Home.

Lunch.

A movie. (The Tuxedo - Jackie Chan)

Searching for my Apple connector to download some photos to a USB stick.

Unsuccessful.

Youtube videos on more Art.

Gathering all the birthday gifts for BGWLBH ready for wrapping and mailing.

Pains in my belly.

Being still for a while.

Drove to The Happy Abode hoping to find the Apple connector.

Unsuccessful.

Watched MKR.

Watched more Art videos on youtube.

Considering an early night except it's already 10pm!

I had an unpopular thought ...

I don't give a rat's pizzle about the Notre Dame Cathedral and I agree with this statement made by somebody I admire and respect ...

"The Catholic Church is a symbol of oppression for women and minorities - it’s not a real romantic symbol of beauty. It hasn’t alleviated poverty in the world, it’s a collector of people, power and real estate.

It’s not a moral centre. It’s a hot bed of abuse, cover ups and oppression run by men, not Gods.

I have nothing against religion, except when it’s used to control and punish people.

Yes Notre Dame is super old and pretty, but so are trees, rainforests and coral reefs that are being destroyed every day."

Judging by the craziness and world wide mourning on social media over a partially burnt building, I'm certain those words will be offensive to many.

One more thing. I read in a news article that the spire is coated in 250 ton of lead and every time it rains, water leaks through the cracks and leaches lead into the gutters of the city. So it's been poisoning the population for centuries.

Oh and Nostradamus predicted this ... apparently.

Ah well.

To close for the evening ...

Nite all.

Doing Nothing

I'm exhausted from doing nothing.

Well, I did some washing. I cooked lamb shanks and roasted veg for dinner. I spent an hour on the phone with an Aunty who I usually only speak to when somebody in the family dies (nobody died this time). I watched a movie called "Vaxxed". I considered going for a swim. But no. I read some of my crystal book and discovered that my guardian stone is Hematite.

Hematite protects me like armour and deflects negative energy,

I had a late night because I chose to do some more art before bed.

I'm quite happy with it and I like that I'm learning something new with every piece. When I eventually do my big one, I should have enough experience to create exactly what I envision.

This one didn't take long to do, but it took me FOREVER to clear all the mess before I went to bed!

It was almost 1am the last time I looked at the clock before I fell asleep.

So no art today.

I hope there will be girls to drink coffee with in the morning.

Nite all.

Art at Home

I enjoyed a solid night's sleep and woke at 7am.

Adoring Husband appeared in the room at 8am and asked if I would like some breakfast so he brought me some coffee and toast.

I began watching youtube videos to get some more ideas for some art. I took my iPad to the Bali hut and enjoyed some fresh air.

I was brave enough Io sit with my legs in the chilly waters of the pool, but not brave enough to go in today.

It was well after lunch when I finally came inside to start creating.

I forgot how long it takes to set everything up!

It took about an hour to mix the white paint mixture, my colours, prepare my surface, set all my tools on the table and open all the coloured paint pots from last week.

My first attempt was this ...

... which I love! The colours are so vibrant and the cells came out beautifully. It's quite striking and the different sections are interesting.

My next attempt was quite disappointing. The colours were a bit dull and using house paint for the base, it dried much faster than the artist's acrylic paint, so my creativity ended up hitting a wall about 15 minutes in.

I think I'll add some extra floetrol to help it flow better and to slow down the drying process. I plan on having another attempt tonight ... it's going to be a late night lol.

Anyway, I hope I can share something more spectacular tomorrow.

Nite all.
