Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Distractions

We had an early start so I was out of bed at 6am, out the door at 7.15am, sitting down in a coffee shop at 7.50am and off on a solo shopping jaunt at 8.30am.

People seemed to share their ages a lot today.

The woman working in the lady’s boutique told me that she is 72yrs old.

The woman working in the craft store told me that she is 74yrs old.

A woman shopping in Choice told me that she is 84yrs old.

The checkout chick in Coles told me that she is 53yrs old.

The girl working in the bakery was telling her co-worker that she just turned 33yrs old.

It was a less than successful shopping day for me.

I tried on many tops without success.

I searched for pretty hand made dresses for Hazie in the craft store without success.

I looked in Choice for a crafty gift for BGWLBH without success.

I checked all my lotto tickets from last week without success.

I visited Big W hoping to find a Clarins lipstick that I’ve been searching for, without success.

I WAS able to get everything on my food shopping list so at least I had success there.

We arrived home before Adoring Husband did because he played golf in Childers.

He had received a phone call from one of our neighbours to say that they lost one of their dogs to a brown snake bite last night.

The worrying thing for us, was that Harley threw up before AH went to golf, so our imaginations went a little bit crazy.

It was a huge relief to arrive home and see Harley sitting at the gate wagging his tail ready to welcome me home.

AH had last night’s leftovers for dinner, while I made a small honey soy sesame chicken with boiled rice for BGWLBH.

We played trivia before watching the football. I’m pleased to say that Dolphins defeated Penrith Panthers and I tipped the winner correctly so I am now 2 points ahead on our tipping ladder! Wahoo!

Now it’s time to sleep.

Oldie But a Goodie

I am watching the original "Oceans 11" on the Classic channel.

Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jnr, Dean Martin, Peter Lawford, Angie Dickenson, Shirley Maclaine among many others.

What a great cast.

I've had another brain draining day.

Adding more to my book, more designing of the journal and affirmation cards, more manifesting lessons, journaling, note taking, meditation and phone calls.

I phoned the groom of the wedding that I'll be photographing on Sunday to discuss further details of the wedding and what he and his bride will be expecting.

There's a story!

Which I won't tell here.

Due to water cutoffs, our local butcher was closed today, so my plans for dinner had to change. I took leftover curried mince out of the freezer and made the curried mince pastries served with boiled and chopped potatoes in their jackets, honey carrots/zucchini and tzatziki.

Even I filled my belly up on that. It was delicious.

We played trivia for 45 mins and Adoring Husband and I watched Andy Lee's 100 before heading off to bed.

Tomorrow will be another day in The Bay with a long list of food and groceries.

Which means it's time for me to sleep.

Tired Brain

I seem to have overworked my brain today.

Meditation was cancelled due to low numbers and a possible unsafe car.

I was struggling to get out of bed so it was a relief when I saw the message!

I took Harley out to play and returned to my made bed.

Manifesting was on my agenda so I found a fresh new journal and began writing my manifesting dream with gusto and vigor!

I have some favourite social media gurus who are masters of manifesting ... among other things.

Joe Dispenza is my number one.

Jake Ducey has some bright ideas.

Louise Hay is an old favourite.

Bob Proctor was around for many years but passed away in 2022 at the ripe old age of 87.

Denise Duffield Thomas is relatively new. I followed her closely when setting up my gift shop in 2017.

Lastly, Elizabeth Gilbert, who wrote the book "Big Magic" is quite motivational.

It doesn't matter what they teach you, what goes on inside your head is key to your success. It's all about self belief and being truly convinced that you are deserving of whatever it is you want. It's amazing how your own thoughts can sabotage everything in an instant.

The trick is to brain wash yourself, through regular habits, affirmations, journaling, spells, meditations and behaving like you already have what it is that you're manifesting. Changing the energy in your body, your mind and your surroundings.

Our biggest enemy is limiting beliefs.

Anyway ... I YouTubed, journaled and read my way through some great ideas and put some of them into practice.

I also took some photos for the "Details" brief on 52Frames. I don't like any of them so far, but I'm holding on to them in case I run out of time and feel desperate!

Now it's time to sleep. An earlier than usual 'lights out' for me.

A New Week

This week’s theme in 52Frames is ‘Details’. The extra challenge requires that I use a macro lens, which luckily, I have.

I’m thinking about getting up close and personal with an insect (we have a lot of big grasshoppers in the garden at the moment) or perhaps a passionfruit flower or even Harley’s nose!

I’ll think of something.

Another day in The Bay and it was lovely and quiet. School holidays have begun and there was hardly any traffic and very few kids out and about!

Tonight was the Australian Idol finale and my boy Marshall Hamburger won. As soon as I saw his audition, I said to Adoring Husband, “Marshall Hamburger will win this”.

No more MAFS after tonight - this week was the reunion and now it’s all over until next year.

AH will be so pleased.

I had a good weekend of tipping and am still equal top of the tipping ladder with Best Cousin in the World.

AH mowed the lawns yesterday and today.

Now I need to sleep. Meditation early tomorrow.

Pretty Restful

I had no ironing for BGWLBH this morning.

I took Harley out to play.

I made tomato on toast for breakfast and brought it to bed so that I could work on my book.

After a while, I decided to watch "Adolescence".

So many people have been raving about it on social media and even the girls at lunch were talking about it, so I decided I needed to know what was so great about it.

I actually wasn't that impressed with it.

It's just another way to normalise murder, violence, sexism, misogyny, immorality ... only worse, because it involved children, none of whom seemed to take accountability for their role in the crime and others who thought it was funny.

I'm disturbed by how we are being conditioned to accept such atrocities.

The number of shows on TV that are filled with true stories of violence. Deadly siblings, killer husband and wife teams, mean girl murders, lost control killings, serial killers, narcissistic boyfriends, mothers who murder their children and babies etc.

One night, very late, I was trying to find something on TV to fall asleep to, and EVERY channel had a murder program on it. EVERY SINGLE CHANNEL.

I am going to make a list of them all.

Anyway ...

I cleared my emails, watched some YouTube, started designing a journal and then watched the football.

Dinner was duck breast with a pile of baked bite sized vegetables - potato, sweet potato, carrot, capsicum, onion, tomato, zucchini and chilli.

Oh and I did my photo for 52Frames, the theme of which is 'Levitation'.

That was the day. A little bit productive. Mentally tiring. Now it's time to sleep.
