Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Bad Australian vaccine data

Western Australia has released data about adverse events reported for The Covid vaccine. I am not the slightest bit surprised and every day I’m grateful for the decision I made for my body and health because these stats are damning.

Today was market day.

We enjoyed breakfast at Salt then walked to the Pier Markets where we browsed and shopped at SO MANY stalls! It was almost as big as the pre-Christmas markets.

I bought some birthday and Christmas gifts, fruit and vegetables, some chilli Davidson plum sauce and a poncho for me.

On the way to the car, we stopped at Luxe where I bought a gorgeous top.

Then we moved on to the Torquay Markets which were bigger than the last time we were there. I can’t even remember what I purchased from there but I know my partner in crime found some art and some jewellery.

I put $5 in the guitar case of a busker whose beautiful voice moved me. She made me feel very emotional! I actually didn’t have any cash in my purse so I had to borrow the fiver from BGWLBH.

Across the road from the markets, a new dress shop was open. It’s actually an extension of Banana Bender and I tried on a couple tops but I didn’t like them on me. The woman who owns it told me about some brands she says will be delivered in two weeks and they are some of my favourites so I look forward to going back in a few weeks.

We drove to Pialba for some grocery shopping and some Su Jus juices and were home just after 1pm.

I made lunch and settled in for Super Saturday football.

Three games today and one last night and I have a so far perfect round in the footy tipping comp.

It’s now after 11pm and after watching the Djokovic semi final last night until 1.30am, I’m feeling very weary. Definitely time to sleep.

Relaxing

A satisfying story to start the day …

A wealthy man walked into a bar in Miami. As soon as he entered, he noticed an African woman, sitting in one corner. He walked over to the counter, removed his wallet and shouted, "Bartender! I'm buying drinks for everyone in this bar, except that woman over there!"

The bartender collected the money and began serving free drinks to everyone in the bar, except the African woman. Instead of becoming upset, the woman simply looked up at the guy and shouted, "Thank you!"

This infuriated the wealthy guy. So once again, he took out his wallet and shouted, "Waiter! This time I am buying bottles of wine and additional food for everyone in this bar, except for that African sitting in the corner over there!"

The bartender collected the money from the man and began serving free food and wine to everyone in the bar except the African. When the waiter finished serving the food and drinks, the African woman simply smiled at the man and said, Thank you!"

That made him furious. So he leaned over the counter and asked the bartender, "What is wrong with that woman.. I have bought food and drinks for everyone in this bar except for her, and instead of becoming angry, she just sits there, smiles at me and shouts 'Thank you.' Is she mad"

The bartender smiled at the wealthy man and said, "No, she is not mad. She is the OWNER of this establishment."

May our enemies work unknowingly in our favour.......

Harley was very happy on my lap in front of the TV while I was watching the footy tonight.

Aside from the Harley walk and play this morning, I did nothing but watch the new series of ‘And Just Like That’

I am watching the tennis with Djokovic vs Sinner at the moment. Djokovic is playing well.

I hope it’s a quick win for Novak because I have to be up early in the morning to head into the markets! I’d appreciate a few hours sleep before I go.

On that note …

Too Much

I don’t know what came over me today but I had energy to burn.

  • Cooked breakfast for Adoring Husband and BGWLBH
  • Walked Harley for an hour
  • Played with Harley for half an hour
  • Chopped pumpkin, carrot, sweet potato, eggplant and cauliflower to boil for Harley food
  • Peeled and chopped potatoes and cut up cauliflower to make soup
  • Attempted to connect the new printer for scanning and emailing
  • After steaming the vegetables, threw them with remaining ingredients into the blender and pressed the ‘soup’ button to blend and heat
  • Made candied walnuts in the oven
  • Mixed up the dog food and spooned it into 19 ziplock bags to freeze
  • Helped AH save some financial documents and then upload them to his MyGov account
  • Made vanilla cupcakes
  • Made butter cream icing with lemon and finger lime
  • Iced the cupcakes
  • Cleaned the kitchen
  • Rested for 90 minutes
  • Crumbed 4 giant chicken thigh fillets
  • Cooked 4 giant chicken thigh fillets
  • Made a garden salad
  • Made a coleslaw
  • Fed Harley
  • Ate cauliflower soup with candied walnuts for dinner
  • Sat down, put my feet up with a cup of tea and a cupcake
Now it’s almost 11pm and I am absolutely exhausted!

Tennis Tragic

What a great win by Djokovic this morning!

I purposely fell asleep with the TV still going at 10.45pm.

I knew that Djokovic wouldn’t play until late and I knew I’d wake during the night (because my bladder demands it!) and I wanted to see, without going to any effort, who was playing at any given time.

At 3am I opened my eyes to see that Djokovic had lost the first set and was winning 3-0 in the second, so I emptied my bladder in the appropriate room and then returned to my warm bed to sit up and watch the remainder of the match.

The match was over at 5am and after I watched his post match interview, I fell back to sleep until 6.30am.

He is awesome.

BGWLBH and I had a big day in The Bay looking for art supplies and grocery shopping, picking up the FROG box and taking a detour to grab our usual fresh egg order from the Happy Hippy.

I’m really tired after so little sleep last night but I’d love to see some of the men’s tennis tonight, especially the Eubank vs Medvedev game. I’ll see if I can hold out - it seems the lady’s matches are very even and both might go to 3 sets which means the men will be late starters.

State of Origin football was on tonight and NSW took the win. It didn’t matter because QLD had already won the series but NSW supporters needed this win to boost their morale.

It’s now 11.30pm so I think I might do last nights trick and sleep with the TV on so that I can catch some of the men’s tennis at some point.

Low Energy

I made breakfast for Adoring Husband and BGWLBH before taking Harley for his morning walk.

He was very good on the loose leash, tried to chase two cars, ignored six and almost dragged me across the road when a dog started barking like a crazy thing from its front yard.

Still a work in progress but at least I’m now enjoying the walks and looking forward to them each morning… as is Harley.

We spent an hour around the pool when we got back. Harley likes to cool down by stepping onto the first platform of the pool.

I thought about doing some art but then I got hungry so I was distracted by preparing a light breakfast of one leftover lamb rissole, 2 slices of tomato, beetroot and LF cheese with a nice hot cup of tea.

BGWLBH headed off to the local hairdresser where she had a LOT of hair chopped and the greys highlighted. It looks great!

Last night I enjoyed watching Eubanks defeat Tsitsipas at Wimbledon and was super excited to know that Djokovic won his match in four sets (even though I didn’t get to watch it 🤬).

He plays again tonight so I’m hoping they might show it on TV this time.

I’m propped up in bed ready to watch but I’m fading fast. I don’t think I’ll make the distance but I’ll leave the TV on so that if I wake up I’ll know who’s playing and I might get to catch some of the tennis.

Surprises!

While walking Harley this morning, I tried a new technique to encourage him to walk on a loose leash.

Surprisingly, I had more success with that one technique than I have with all of the others so far!

Also, he only tried to chase two cars and calmly watched all of the others drive by.

We are making progress.

When we returned from our walk, I was surprised to discover that BGWLBH had gone into The Bay.

Harley and I played in the pool area for a good hour and I was feeling a bit peckish so I made myself a late breakfast.

After breakfast, I moved into my art space and did some more to my seahorses …

Still a long way to go but I’m pretty happy with it so far.

When I got bored with that, I parked my butt on the couch with Harley to watch my quiz shows and not surprisingly, I promptly fell asleep at the beginning of the second show.

I thought home made hamburgers would be an easy option for dinner, but surprisingly, it took me an hour and fifteen minutes to prepare everything so that we could build our own burgers at the table. As delicious as they were, they were certainly not an easy option!

I’m now propped up in bed hoping to catch the resumption of Djokovic’s match which was suspended at 7am (our time) which was 10pm (their time) yesterday. The ‘powers that be’ seem intent on not giving us access to his matches - unless we pay for Stan. Sport. - We get to see all the other top seeded players on the free to air channels, but not Djokovic.

I tried to get the free livestreams from ESPN which kept coming up with ‘unexpected error’ for 90 minutes and Wimbledon which just happened to be turned off for this match.

I had to watch the slamtracker scores while listening to Wimbledon radio to know what was happening in his match.

This is one frustrated old bird.

Ok time to focus on some tennis. I’m watching Tsitsipas play Eubanks right now.

Just before I go … a BIG happy birthday to Best Cousin in the World who is going through some pretty shitty breast cancer treatment right now. Sending love, light and strength to her and hoping that she found some joy in her day.

Nite all.

Sleepless Sunday

It was around 3am when I fell asleep this morning.

I still didn’t get to see the end of any matches that I was watching.

Christopher O’Connell lost his match 7-6 7-6 7-6

The No.1 player, Alcaraz, lost one of his sets but eventually won in four sets.

I just couldn’t stay awake past 3am - it was a struggle to last that long!

I’d love to see the Djokovic match tonight but he is third on the match play list for Centre Court so I doubt he’ll even walk onto the court until after 3am our time.

I might set my alarm to wake up at 2am just to check.

Harley, BGWLBH and I spent about two hours in the pool area this morning with me throwing the ball for Harley and BGWLBH soaking up the sunshine.

Art was on my mind after that but once I started, my motivation level dipped to almost zero. I pushed myself for another 15 minutes but I could feel my art suffering from my attitude so I gave up and found some fluffy stuff to watch on TV.

Dinner was a baked chicken and vegetables which was nice.

I only missed one game in the footy tipping this week.

It’s now 10.45pm and the first match on Centre Court has started. Definitely time for me to sleep and hopefully catch the Novak match in a few hours!
