Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Substantially Super

What a crazy morning in the shop!

Between 9.20am and 10.20am I made most of my sales for the day, which were almost record breaking!

It was out of control!

Between 10.20am and closing time at 1pm, I had perhaps six further customers, all of whom made purchases to make my total look quite substantial.

I had long break between customers around late morning so I made myself a fruit salad of banana, blueberries, mango and macadamia nuts covered in coconut yoghurt, wild blueberry powder and Kakadu plum gubinge.

It was delicious and gave me a real energy boost for the remainder of the day.

I found a couple of boxes of little turtles which I unpacked, priced and displayed.

Before I knew it, Adoring Husband arrived to help close the shop and we were on our way home.

While I intended to jump in the pool for a couple of hours, once I parked my butt on the couch, that’s where it stayed.

We watched an old black and white Elvis movie - Jailhouse Rock.

Crumbed chicken with home made salsa for dinner.

Adoring Husband was feeling a bit the worst for wear and had an early night so I watched Crazy Rich Asians before coming to bed.

It’s very windy here tonight and there are some wild storms to the north and the south of us but I think we are in the clear.

Time for me to sleep.

Nite all.

Nick of Time

I was suddenly woken at 4.30am by a very heavy and loud downpour of rain that lasted for about ten minutes. I couldn’t get back to sleep after that so it feels like I’ve had a long day.

It was another slow and interesting day in the shop.

Not many people through the door but I did meet the lady who bought the house that Mrs Bucket once rented - the house where our wedding reception was held in 2010!

The house sustained quite a bit of damage in one of last weeks storms and the lady was telling me all about it.

The Brains Trust came for a visit, looking all windswept after her long walk.

I finally began clearing my desk and got halfway through it, cleared the art stuff from the kitchen and washed the dishes, changed a couple of small displays, checked my emails, ordered some tuning forks and jewellery pillow boxes as well as some logo stickers via Vistaprint.

I had time for lunch - prawns and a cup of tea, discovering that I have a resident huntsman spider that tried to hitch a ride on my hand!

Taking his arachnophobia into account, Adoring Husband has been warned to stay clear of the area!

This afternoon, just as I had resigned myself to another day of low takings, I had a lady enter and purchase enough to take me well past my happy minimum. That cheered me up no end!

It was nice to come home and sit with a pot of anti-inflammitea, share some of AH’s birthday cake while relaxing in front of our favourite afternoon quiz shows. It’s a nice way to wind down.

We watched the BOM closely as two very large and dangerous storms headed in our direction, and we were lucky to have them skim past us without incident.

This is one of the Doctors who I follow and listen to about all things Covid/vaccine related.

He has (to use one of AH’s favourite sayings) “more qualifications than you can poke a stick at” and extensive experience in treating both Covid patients and vaccine injured patients. He has had papers published, conducted his own research and reads/analyses every inch of every study that has been conducted since this whole covid business began.

His brain holds all of the statistics, numbers, data that you can imagine and nobody can argue effectively against him because he is so factual and can back everything he says.

This is just one of hundreds of interviews in which has participated over the last eight months …

Dr Peter McCullough

It’s 10.30pm and I’m feeling a bit weary so it’s sleep time for me.

Nite all.

What Was That?

What a weird day!

By 1.30pm, I’d only had 2 people through the door.

One lady spent $5.

The other lady spent nothing.

At 1.30pm, two ladies wandered around the shop for ten minutes and bought nothing.

That was it!

Aggie came for a visit. I’m not sure how long she stayed because time flies when you’re having fun! I do know it was after midday when she left.

I had plenty of time to enjoy a crab sandwich and cup of tea for lunch.

The Happy Hippy came for her hour which she filled with steaming clothes and dusting, as well as telling me her terrifying story of being out at sea during last weeks horrible storms!

I took some advice from Aggie and put ‘sales’ stickers on a selection of Winter clothes that have been slow to move and placed them on the rack outside.

I put the last of the new stock on display.

I bought a cake mix so that I could make Adoring Husband a birthday cake …

… it was so sweet and rich and delicious with layer upon layer upon layer of tasty sweetness.

One layer of chocolate cake with a layer of chocolate sauce spread over that, then a layer of blueberries, followed by a layer of whipped cream, then more chocolate cake, with chocolate icing and lastly topped with strawberries.

Talk about a sugar rush!

It’s almost 11.30pm and I think the sugar is fading and the crash is imminent!

Nite all.

Bit Annoying

I just have to say this … those new ads on TV about female urinary habits and incontinence, are really annoying me. I’m sick of hearing those words “A little bit of wee is not gonna stop me being me”.

Then there’s the product called ‘Wee Less’ for women ‘who wee more often than they’d like’.

Really?

I don’t recall seeing or hearing about products for men who have the same problem … and they DO have the same problems. Is that a pride thing?

*rolls eyes*

Anyway, that’s my little whinge for today.

It was a slow day for sales in the shop and I didn’t quite reach my happy minimum in takings.

I spent an hour on the phone with The Motivator this morning and we discussed all things Covid and health/immunity building.

That was followed by an hour of customer service.

I got to price and display most of the stock that arrived on Monday.

I had a visit from a future new resident and we spent about an hour looking at and discussing her new house plan and the changes she was making. I quite enjoyed that conversation and remembered with fondness how exciting it was when we were building our home.

I paid some bills, created files, printed invoices, spoke to reps, cleared some emails, made some lunch and a cup of tea, and before Adoring Husband arrived, I thanked the universe for a productive day and providing enough sales this week to pay for the obscene amount of money I spent on jewellery two weeks ago!!

My plans for when I arrived home went out the window because I needed to put my feet up and shut my brain down. I had planned on cleaning the ensuite and doing some ironing. Yeah … Nah.

Dinner for AH was leftover spaghetti Bolognese made with chicken mince. Then he ate my leftover paleo pizza from yesterday, along with five bananas 😳

I shelled two sand crabs, ate the meat out of the legs and felt satisfied enough to not need any more dinner so I ate a mango.

Trashy TV was the order of the night. Gogglebox and The Bachelorette.

Now I think it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.

Triumphant Return

I’m baaaa-aaack!

At the beginning of each work day I put the date and a Title at the top of my sales page.

The titles are always something related to attracting abundance eg “Friday of Fortune” or “Wealthy Wednesday”.

Today’s title was “Triumphant Tuesday”.

It was indeed Triumphant!

I was so busy, I hardly had any time with my morning coffee girls, no time for lunch and certainly no time to price the stock that arrived yesterday!

At 1.20pm Adoring Husband phoned to ask if I’d looked at the BOM because there was a big storm coming and he wanted to see what it was doing before coming to get me.

I didn’t think it would hit, but after the last two storms, and to be on the safe side, I canceled the journaling class and we closed the shop, did a really quickly stop for groceries and arrived home just as the rain began falling.

There was plenty of rumbling thunder, not much rain and it was all over very quickly.

It wasn’t long until another line of storms formed …

We could hear it coming and decided to cook dinner early in case of a possible power failure.

This storm was another fizzer, which split in two and went around us.

We should be grateful because the last storm did this …

Of course we need rain but not the damage.

I had a great art class on Saturday and even though we didn’t quite finish, I was pleased with the progress.

Well, it’s rapidly approaching midnight so I should get some sleep. No meditation tomorrow so I get to sleep in a bit.

Nite all.
