Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Yes or No

I had big plans for taking Harley and Adoring Husband to the Howard markets this morning. Our first big outing together and with Harley in a crowded space.

But I didn’t get to sleep until almost 1am and it was broken sleep until 6am. My brain was mush and I knew there was no way I could manage them both effectively, so we canned the idea.

Instead, I cooked breakfast for everyone and took Harley to the pool area for play time.

After I’d worn him out, I moved to the art space where I wrote my reply letter to Chicklet. So far I have written two letters to her and she has replied both times.

It’s an absolute highlight for me when I receive her letters and it means the world to me. I’ve bought a special box to store her letters in and I sent her a box to store mine. One of the great joys of being her grandmother.

I’d planned on doing more on my octopus but AH started watching a series on training kelpie working dogs and I made the mistake of sitting down to watch some of it. Within 5 minutes I was hooked so I settled in to watch the entire series which took us to the first game of football for the day.

I’m watching the Broncos vs Sharks game right now. Broncos are in the lead by 8 points and AH has gone to bed because he can’t stand to see his beloved Sharks lose. There’s still 15 minutes remaining in the game and anything can happen in that time.

Fingers crossed my Broncos can retain their lead to the end!

I think I’ll sleep well tonight and I’ll be in bed as soon as the footy is over.

With 4 minutes left in the game Broncos lead 20 - 12. Still anything can happen.

Nite all.

Reduced Fitness

Well, having eleven days without any form of exercise has reduced Harley’s fitness level considerably, so an hour chasing balls around the pool completely wore him out!

He was very quiet for the remainder of the day, with just a couple of brief energy bursts during the afternoon and evening.

We need to work on that.

While working on our art this morning, we suddenly lost SOME power. A few lights, the dishwasher, the fridges and our internet connection.

The trip switch was locked and to fix it, our electrician told us to turn off and unplug everything (and I mean EVERYTHING). This unlocked the trip switch so we could flip it back on, then one by one, we had to turn everything back on.

It was expected that during this process, we would discover which electrical appliance caused the partial blackout.

We didn’t.

Nobody knows what caused it and hopefully it will never happen again and it will remain a mystery.

We lost a good hour of art time.

BGWLBH and I drove out to Farm Gate to grab some fruit and veg, then popped into the supermarket to buy some junk food.

I baked some cupcakes with lemon icing.

Mixed up a batch of Harley dog food for the week.

Made the marinade for the chicken early in the day so the chicken had a good 7 hours to soak in all that goodness.

We played trivia before the football started and the team I tipped lost by one point.

Ugh.

It’s now way after midnight so I should sleep!

Another First

The women played State of Origin tonight and once again, Queensland were victorious!

Their series only comprises of two games but this one was tough and hard fought. I enjoyed the game.

This is Harley on the way to the vet this morning. Still with cone.

I didn’t take a pic of him without it, but it didn’t take much to wear him out this afternoon. Half an hour throwing the ball around and IN the pool and he was sleeping for most of the afternoon.

He’s sound asleep in his bed right now.

It was a bit off putting when he tried to attack a couple of dogs at the vets and we had to be ushered into another room so that the other dogs could leave! Now I have to figure out how to get him out of that bad habit.

It just took a couple of minutes to remove his stitches and we purchased his 3 in 1 tablets for worms and ticks and fleas.

He wasn’t keen to get back in the crate in the back of the car but we eventually got him in there.

I have to confess that it was quite a stressful trip and I was happy to return home as quickly as possible.

I napped on the couch this afternoon and cooked a honey/soy (without using actual soy) chicken with sweet potato and garden salad for dinner and played trivia afterwards until the Women’s State of Origin started.

Now, I’m ready for sleep.

1st Win QLD

Queensland won the first State of Origin game tonight 26-18.

It was a great game with QLD scoring twice in the final ten minutes while being one man down.

It’s all about heart.

We still have to win one of the next two games to clinch the series so we can’t get too cocky yet.

BGWLBH spent the day in bed with vertigo.

I spent the day in front of the TV watching movies. ‘The Lost Boys’ and ‘To All The Boys: Always and Forever’

One more sleep til Harley is back to normal. We have an appointment with the vet tomorrow to have stitches and the cone removed. I cant wait to get home and throw the ball for him because he’s been itching to play.

When you read this, it will be the first day of Winter!

Meanwhile I need to sleep so that I have plenty of energy to play with Harley tomorrow.

Yawning

It’s late and I’m very tired.

Harley woke me up too early this morning.

BGWLBH and I had a big day in The Bay.

I made Tuna mornay for dinner.

Two more sleeps until Harley can be back to normal.

On Wednesday night … GO QUEENSLAND!

Sunday Blahday

Sunday was a horrible day for me.

I felt completely blah. Not one cell in my body could find a reason to smile or feel happy so I was a misery guts all day.

Today, I felt much better.

I firmly believe that we should wallow in our misery when we feel the need. It helps.

I spent some time in the art room and finished my seahorse.

Then I started another octopus, embellishing an old art pour. Obviously a long way to go yet.

By the time you read this, there will be two more sleeps until Harley has his cone removed and life gets back to normal. I can’t wait!

All things considered, he has been pretty good, but we will be grateful that all of our legs will get the chance to heal from the bashings that he has inflicted with that massive cone.

I got a perfect round in the footy tipping this week and have jumped from last place to third!

BGWLBH and I are heading into The Bay tomorrow so it’s  time for me to sleep.
