Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Wrong Day

I was absolutely certain that today was Sunday.

I was wrong!

For me, it started with a swim in the pool. I swam a few laps and then floated blissfully for about ten minutes. The water was perfect and the sun was warm.

BGWLBH was already out there when I arrived and Adoring Husband was back to erecting the raised vege planter pod. I’ll take a pic tomorrow to show how fabulous it is.

We all enjoyed a smoothie for lunch. Pineapple, banana and mango with coconut water.

We watched The Untouchables.

A visitor popped in to collect some money for our share of a syndicate ticket in powerball. She saved me from having to run down to her house which was a lovely gesture. She was out for a walk with her puppy dog.

I brought my washing in and folded it as well as adding another load which I hung out tonight.

Did our own thing for an hour or so until I cooked some chicken for dinner. BGWLBH had already prepared some salads and I heated a cup of the chicken soup that she had cooked yesterday. It was delicious! That was my dinner.

After dinner, we played trivia. BGWLBH won before I’d even won a single wedge piece! We are using the Baby Boomer questions and some are really easy while some are bloody difficult! They seem to suit AH quite well. He’s a bit older than us so he’s closer to Baby Boomer age.

We decided to watch American Graffiti. It’s one of my fave movies but BGWLBH had never seen it. She didn’t enjoy it so much. AH slept through most of it.

Now it’s 11pm and I’m ready for sleep.

It seems that Google doesn’t want me to add any pics to this post tonight so that’s all from me.

Nite all.

Lady of Leisure

What a perfectly great day!

I slept until 9.20am.

At 10.30am I left my bedroom and made a cup of tea to accompany my fresh prawns. It was probably closer to brunch than breakfast.

I decided to check the pool water and it was perfect so I changed into my swimmers and jumped in. After a few laps, I stepped out and found the folding lounge so that I could lay in the sun for a while. Twenty minutes later I returned to the water and swam some more laps.

I found one section of pipe on the pool cleaner had split, so I removed it and Adoring Husband gave me another section to replace it.

While I was swimming, AH was putting together our new vege pod. He asked for my assistance a couple of times otherwise I sat in my egg chair and watched YouTube and Bitchute videos.

Dr McCullough

BGWLBH made a chicken soup with the carcass of our roast chicken and the vegetables in the fridge. She’s a busy little beaver and a wonderful personal assistant!

At 2.30pm I remembered that I had to meet a customer at the shop so that she could pick up some items that she had set aside last week. While she was there she selected a couple of other pieces of jewellery and ended up spending almost $300 so it was worth it for me.

I did some grocery shopping and bought junk food. Big mistake. My tummy was VERY unhappy after I ate an entire packet of GF chocolate coated red frogs!

Ugh!

So my afternoon/evening was not as pleasant and leisurely as the morning.

AH cooked our chicken for dinner but I only ate two nibbles and returned to bed.

It’s now 10pm and I’d like to sleep and try to wake early for a walk on the beach.

Weirdness

Today felt a bit weird.

I was out of bed by 9.30am making some breakfast and I sat with BGWLBH and watched Grace and Frankie.

A couple of days ago we decided to make a list of our favourite movies, reduce the list to a manageable number and then watch one each day.

Today, it just happened that “Empire of the Sun” played on one of the Foxtel channels so we watched it. It was on BGWLBH’s list and I’ve never seen it before. It was a great movie with some big names.

Tonight, I’ve discovered that “The Untouchables”, also on the list, is playing at 1am on Foxtel, so I’ve set it to record and we can watch it tomorrow.

After our movie, I stepped outside to check the water temperature in the pool. It was so nice, I took my top off and slid into the water for a few laps. It was lovely.

Our raised vege garden pod was delivered today so Adoring Husband has the job of putting it all together and filling it with soil. I have a tin of mixed seeds for BGWLBH to plant (she has the green thumb and loves to garden) so we should soon have some delicious fresh vegetables to enjoy.

At 3pm I prepared a whole chicken and a pan of vegetables to bake in the oven. Dinner was ready by 5pm - I’m loving this early dinner idea - and we played Trivial Pursuit for 90 minutes afterwards.

It’s already 11pm! I think I’ll head to bed now.

Lazy and Lethargic

I spent the majority of today in bed.

We had leftover lasagne for lunch and then I returned to bed.

Adoring Husband spent the day mowing lawns at work and at home.

BGWLBH spent the majority of her day in her room too.

It was just one of those lazy lethargic days.

I did a couple of loads of washing in between naps and reading.

For dinner, I cooked up a sweet and spicy chicken dish that turned out less spicy than I wanted.

Now I’m waiting for MAFS to begin.

This is me December 1988 (note the beer and cigarette) …

What’s Next?

I met my old workmate at the Lions Park for coffee (or in my case, tea).

They recognised me immediately and even though it’s been 15 years since we’ve seen each other, they hadn’t changed a bit either. Greenie was just as cheeky as ever and we spent 2.5 hours attempting to catch up on all of those years.

It was a thoroughly enjoyable morning and I’m so annoyed that I didn’t think to get a selfie with them!

I rode my trike for the first time in a year, which was a bit daunting when riding into the head wind! I also found the new walkway near the outriggers shed which is wide enough for trikes and mobility carts so the ride to my meeting was a touch shorter than usual.

After the meeting, I met with the real estate agent to talk about moving my shop to where the laundromat is. I took measurements, asked a few questions and am now waiting on those answers before I make a decision.

I arrived home at 1.30pm and we all drove out to Howard for lotto tickets.

We drove the long way home via Torbanlea and Toogoom which was lovely and green.

A quick stop at the butcher for some mince and I cooked up a lasagne for dinner, which was delicious!

After dinner was a movie “Definitely Maybe” followed by MAFS.

I’ve just been informed that the mask mandate will be dropped at the end of this month! 😁

Time to re-evaluate!

Some pics of my Chicklet learning to surf. What a cracker! I’m so proud 🥰

Meanwhile, I’m going to enjoy my sleep in tomorrow morning.

Over and Out

Well, not quite.

I still haven’t given notice to the landlord so I’m holding out for just a little bit longer and I could still teeter either way.

It’s the weirdest feeling because I’m ok with whatever decision I finally settle on, but I may need a sign from the Universe.

With all the feedback I’ve had during the last 6 weeks, I feel like my place in the community is needed and appreciated and holds more value than I realised so I’m quietly re-evaluating.

The RE agent suggested my decision is premature and I know they’re not saying it just because they want the money because they will take over the space if I choose to leave.

I think I’ll take a week or two to sit with it. No pressure.

Today was another busy day of big sales but there is still quite a lot of stock remaining. I’ve decided to take some of the clothes to the local op shop, the rest of it, I’m unsure.

At 1.30pm I opened a bottle of Riccadonna and poured myself a glass and raised it to me.

We locked up and left the shop at 2.30pm taking the bottle of alcohol with us and after putting a little bit of food in my belly, I poured a second glass after I got home.

We played our new (second hand) Baby Boomers edition of trivial pursuit this afternoon and by the time dinner was served BGWLBH was in the lead, and the game is now on hold until next time.

Bangers, mash and salad for dinner. Yum.

MAFS had my attention at 7.30pm and now I should sleep because I have a 10am date tomorrow with an a old workmate from Griffith! I’ll try to remember to take a pic!

Happy Valentines Day! ❤️ Thank you to BGWLBH for my chocolate heart this morning which I enjoyed with my cup of tea.

No Rest for the Wicked

Today, when I would usually spend the day in bed, I worked in the shop.

It was well worth opening and sales were again amazing. There is one more day remaining and I need it to be amazing again to get rid of the remaining stock tomorrow.

There was a great energy in the shop for the first couple of hours. Lots of shopping and laughter and banter. It was a lot of fun.

In the afternoon, a couple of the art girls dropped by which was nice.

We closed at 1pm.

By the time I got home, I was starving and luckily BGWLBH had prepared some salads, so I filled a small bowl and munched on salad.

The afternoon was spent going through photos of my entire life. A good portion of them included BGWLBH and it was a bit of a trip down memory lane. I found some Menhennett pics to send to Zak too.

For dinner I created a chicken concoction to have with salads and a couple of barramundi fillets that were almost out of date.

I phoned my little Chicklet for her birthday this afternoon. It was so amazing to hear her voice and she told me all about her day. BGWLBH and I created a birthday video for her which was hilarious … for us anyway.

It was a night for MAFS.

Now it’s almost midnight!

Best get some sleep!

Nite all.
