Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Wishful Thinking

Harley woke at 4.10am and after toileting, I brought him back to bed until 5am. I’m hoping that he will eventually just know to stay in bed til 5am. Wishful thinking?

I prepared bacon and eggs for breakfast at about 7.30am and spent the following hour digging up all the chafer grubs from the garden pod. I fed some to the magpies and the rest are in a bucket awaiting their fate.

BGWLBH then composted the remaining soil and planted some radishes.

While Adoring Husband was attempting to transfer the compost from a garbage bin to the tumbling compost bin, he dropped the handle of the trolley on his ankle which left him lying prostrate in the back yard declaring that he had broken his ankle.

BGWLBH got him some ice and I got him some water, a golf umbrella to use as a walking stick and an esky to help leverage himself from ground level to upright.

His ankle is not broken but is obviously tender and causing a little pain.

Once we’d established that he was not dying and that he could care for the dogs on his own, BGWLBH and I decided to drive into The Bay with a fairly long list.

Stocklands was a nightmare. The hoards of people were crazy and the queues waiting to be served in almost every shop were ridiculous, Kmart in particular was off the charts.

It only occurred to me while I was standing in one of those queues that we are just a week out from Christmas! That snuck up fast and now I have to send all the Christmas gifts on Monday and hope they arrive at their destinations by the end of the week. Wishful thinking?

We arrived home at 4pm so I sat down for an hour with a cup of tea before making chicken schnitzel, coleslaw and potatoes for dinner.

Harley insisted that I play fetch with him after dinner and then he fell into a deep sleep until bed time!

Here is an updated pic of my art …

… still not completed but getting there.

Sleep time for me. I’m exhausted.

Down and Dirty

Remember on Tuesday when I put the link in my post for the petition to maintain the eAUD and reject digital currency? I hope you took the time to read it and sign it.

Digital currency will be programmable - that means our money can be programmed to be spent any way in which the central bank or the government decides.

One concern is the World Economic Forum because they’re talking about implementing a carbon allowance to everybody, which means that each individual will be given a certain amount of carbon credit - a limited amount that you’re allowed to emit.

They implement that through a central bank digital currency, so if you buy too many plane tickets or you buy too much meat (because those things are supposedly bad for the environment) when you go to fill up your car, your digital money can be declined because you’ve used up all your carbon credit.

They can control what you can and can’t do with your money.

Your money can also expire.

During times of economic uncertainty, central banks simply print extra money, which causes inflation. If they can’t print money (because it will all be digital) they can decide that you have to spend 10% of your savings in the next three months and if you don’t, then that money will expire and disappear from your account.

If you don’t have freedom with your money, then you don’t have freedom of anything.

It’s vital that as many people as possible, sign that petition!

Today was another good day.

Harley woke up at 4am but after his toilet break, I brought him back to his bed and we rested for another hour so I happily got out of bed at 5am.

I started in the pool early this morning around 6.30am. Harley joined me and did quite a bit of swimming which tired him out significantly.

I got changed into my slobberdog clothes and did some more art.

I got a couple of loads of washing done.

BGWLBH had to pull all of the tomato plants out of the raised veggie pod because they were literally smothered in caterpillars.

After she did that and we picked all the remaining  caterpillars off the top of the soil, I got my hands REALLY dirty and turned over ALL the soil in the pod, removing the big root balls and runners, aerating the soil and discovering lots of delicious worms and unfortunately chafer grubs which I will attend to tomorrow!

Now my fingernails are black because I didn’t wear gloves - I wanted to boost my immune system.

It took a good twenty minutes to scrub my hands and arms clean and it took four washes to get all the muck off me. It’s been a long time since I got down and dirty like that.

BGWLBH went for a swim before lunch and I prepared a fruit platter with a guacamole dip and wafer crackers for her lunch.

Adoring Husband had been into town to pick up a script from his doctor and run a few errands so he arrived as I served BGWLBH her lunch. He drove to the local cafe for a small serving of hot chips and we had hot chip sangers for lunch.

I played fetch with Harley until he gave up.

We had the usual Friday night fare for dinner and played a few games of Sequence afterwards.

It’s now 9.15pm and I’m exhausted.

Diving In

Anecdotals Movie

It has been a momentous day!

Harley jumped into the pool voluntarily! He followed BGWLBH as she went for a swim and dived in after her.

So I joined them, and every time I aimed him at the step to climb out, he turned around and swam back to me! So we’ve established that he likes to swim in the pool. This is good news.

I moved into the art space very early this morning. I think it was 6.30am.

I finished watching a movie, the link is at the beginning of this post, and started searching through Facebook groups that provide free photos for artists to use in their art. Then I realised that I am a photographer and have many photos that I can use!

So I selected one of my favourite pelican pics and spent the morning on this …

It’s not finished by a long way yet but I’m happy with my progress. I used coloured pencils, a white acrylic posca pen and a graphite pencil.

After lunch, BGWLBH took Harley out to help in the garden …

That gave us a good giggle.

At 4pm we spent 30 minutes in the pool.

I made a garden salad and a fresh coleslaw to eat with last night’s leftover sausages for dinner. BGWLBH and I played Sequence after dinner.

Adoring Husband had spent the day trimming the Lilly pilly hedge along the fence which involved using the electric hedge clipper to trim along our side, climbing ladders to do the top on our side, then going next door and trimming the branches that had grown through and over the fence, then climbing ladders to do the top on that side.

It’s a big job and it took him hours, but in the process he got something in his eye so instead of trying to rinse it out with water, he rubbed it until it was red raw and now his vision is blurred in that eye, so he was unable to join us in the game of sequence.

Men 🫤

I even got some washing done today so it has been quite productive and satisfactory.

Harley is sound asleep in his pen now. He woke earlier than usual this morning - 4.05am - and I was not particularly amused by that, so I hope he sleeps a bit later tomorrow - as close to 5am as possible, would be lovely.

Now I think I’ll sleep.

Very Trying

Dr Tess Lawrie - Covid 19 ‘vaccines’ and inflammation (the sound and video is out of sync, but the message is important)

Today in Harley World has been testing 😳

He was awake just before 5am and his ‘witching hour’ was very trying.

We drove to the park for our Wednesday morning catch up with the art/meditation girls and Harley wouldn’t settle so after he’d eaten all of his treats and decided that he couldn’t sit still and wanted to chew on everybody, I decided to take him for a short walk.

That did the trick. It was only an 8 minute walk but he lay down and fell asleep straight away. It was difficult getting him to wake up when it was time to leave.

He didn’t want to get into the car and when we arrived home, he didn’t want to get out of the car!

I fed him and we all ate lunch, after which, BGWLBH and I played in the art space. I struggled with motivation and ideas so I have nothing to show you but she is in the midst of a beautiful piece of art which I will show you once it’s completed.

Harley didn’t sit still all afternoon, knocking over a plant, opening a box of bin liners and chewing them open, chewing on the dining chairs, jumping on us, biting us and our clothes.

I took him outside and played ‘fetch’ with him until he gave up. BGWLBH took him out to her garden area where he likes to explore.

We locked him outside while we ate dinner - sausages, boiled potatoes in their jackets, charred zucchini and grilled tomato with balsamic.

After dinner he was crazy restless so I decided to take him for a walk. Just ten minutes is all he can handle right now and I’ve been teaching him to walk on the gutter side of the road.

For the first five minutes he was perfect. Walking by my side with a loose leash, no deviating and very well behaved. We stopped and I got him to sit before we turned around to make the trip back.

We got to the first corner and he turned into a lunatic! He was running and leaping and twisting and crossing in front of me, then jumping on me and biting my clothes. We stopped to chat with a neighbour and he kept jumping up and being a general nuisance.

We got home and he twisted and writhed while I undid his harness and he flew out the door like a mad thing, almost smashing into the glass! He ran around the yard, gulped in some water, ran around some more, tried to go inside but I shut the door and made him sit quietly on the step for a couple of minutes before opening the door to let him in.

After about 2 minutes inside he collapsed on the floor and fell into a deep sleep for about 90 minutes.

When he woke up, I took him out for a pre and we came to bed. It took him about ten minutes to settle but he is again sound asleep.

I honestly don’t know how I’m going to survive his puppyhood. He’s a big, clumsy, crazy puppy for about 4 hours of every day. The rest of the time he is clever and trainable and loveable. I’m exhausted trying to stay one step ahead of his destructive mind and cleaning up the destruction when he’s caught out.

When he’s past the puppy stage he’ll be a wonderful companion and he already finds the closest spot to be near me wherever I am, whether it’s inside, outside or around the pool. He can ‘sit’ and ‘fetch’ and ‘come’ and understands it’s sleep time when he’s put in his pen, understands ‘out’ when I give him his bone. Tells me when he needs to go out during the night.

That’s not bad for less than 12 weeks old so I shouldn’t complain.

That’s my Harley vent for the day.

It’s much later than usual so I’m off to sleep.

It’s For You to Sign

Petition to maintain eAUD

Not so psychotic dog, Colli, started the day with an upset tummy and had Adoring Husband up a couple of times during the night.

Harley however, slept from 8pm - 4.50am. My bladder woke me at 11.30pm but otherwise I had a good nights sleep too.

We started the day with a cooked breakfast and planned nothing for the day because we were supposed to receive buckets full of rain which never eventuated.

I spent some time in the art space. I had a go at sketching a hand …

… then this …

😳

Don’t ask.

Harley and I swam in the pool this afternoon but he wasn’t in much of a mood for fetch. His ‘witching hour’ wasn’t as bad as usual but he did manage to find some more bottom lining under the family room couch to tear off. I moved his water bowl out of reach so that he wouldn’t create another indoor pool to grab my attention.

He fell asleep tonight with his body hugging his small water bowl which I keep in his sleeping pen.

For dinner I crumbed some chicken and served it with home made coleslaw and garden salad. I put lots of hot spice in the crumbing mix which made it yum!

That’s about the long and short of our day and I can’t believe that at 8.30pm I am yawning and ready for sleep!

Morning Viewing

This is a 2.5 hr Press Conference World Council for Health Press Conference for your viewing pleasure.

Harley was very good all day until the ‘witching hour’ when, once again, he became possessed and out of control.

Shredding the indoor plants, spilling the water bowl, chewing the furniture, biting me, ignoring my every command, running all over the place (I’ve had to move my big vase of sunflowers from the family room) and growling at me when I attempt to discipline him!

The witching hour is my least favourite time of day and it’s when I consider sending him back from whence he came!

Other than that, he was a joy (for me) and not so much for Adoring Husband who has no control over Harley at all and he was a nightmare for BGWLBH in the garden until she led him inside and shut the door (that’s Harley - NOT Adoring Husband).

We spent time in the pool as I directed Harley to swim across the width a number of times until I let him go so that he could climb out - but he turned around and swam back to me!

He eventually chose to get out and rolled in the dirt until his white bits were decidedly dark grey.

We played fetch until he gave up.

BGWLBH spent the day in The Bay pampering herself at the hair salon and shopping.

My day was spent on the couch trying to recover from eating two Magnum ice creams yesterday. The main culprit was the dairy, but the sugar didn’t help either, and my body was giving me grief for most of the day.

Hard lesson learned and instructions to BGWLBH to cease buying such deliciousness.

AH cooked lamb loin chops on the barbecue and I made coleslaw, garden salad and potato croquettes. It was all delicious except the tough chops. Our local butcher is usually very good but that’s the second time we’ve been unhappy in the last 6 weeks.

No dessert tonight.

I was watching a fluffy Christmas movie with AH until Harley began playing up so I conceded defeat and came to bed. Harley is now sound asleep in his pen beside the bed and all is peaceful.

I am actually very tired and I think I’ll be sound asleep very soon.

Desperation

Harley slept in a bit this morning!

It was almost 5am when he asked to go outside to pee.

Having had 8 solid hours sleep, I felt very grateful indeed.

Unlike Adoring Husband who has not so psychotic dog, Colli, sleeping in a pen in his room now.

She pigged out on Harley’s kibble yesterday and she’s unable to chew so she swallowed each one whole. I had placed a handful in his bowl and by the looks of it, she ate the entire contents which sat in her belly and swelled with her body fluid and her little body couldn’t cope.

AH spent the night cleaning up her diarrhoea and this morning she violently heaved the entire contents of her belly. It literally knocked her off her feet!

She is feeling much better now and chowed down her dinner tonight which is a good sign.

Harley was full of energy until 7am then slept for more than a couple of hours. When he woke I gave him a bone to chew on which kept him occupied for more than an hour and wore him out enough for another nap.

AH accidentally left the gates open today - he drove off for work and the gates were wide open 😳 Harley played outside and either didn’t notice or was too afraid to leave. Who knows? I feel very very lucky that he didn’t escape.

I told AH that if it happens again I will be researching divorce lawyers!

This afternoon Harley had another swim in the pool and we played ‘fetch’ again for about half an hour.

His crazy ‘witching hour’ from 6.15pm - 7.30pm really wore me out. It’s like he becomes possessed!

Now he’s in bed sound asleep.

We did some art today.

I was desperate to be arty farty but just couldn’t get into the detailed or complex stuff that I’m aiming for so I searched on YouTube for quick and easy art ideas to beat boredom and came up with these …

Certainly nothing to write home about but satisfied my need to do SOMETHING.

The pool water was again perfect today and we are making the most of this great weather by taking a few dips throughout the day. By ‘we’ I mean BGWLBH and I because AH doesn’t seem the slightest bit interested.

Once again I’m all worn out - thanks to one energetic, crazy, loveable little scruff ball.
