Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Thought it was Sunday!

I thought today was Sunday.

I don’t know why.

It was like every other day - cooking, playing, arting, watching footy.

I hope to finish this by the end of the real Sunday (tomorrow).

This is art done by BGWLBH …

Amazing right!? So simple but so detailed and well balanced.

I took some slow motion videos of Harley playing in the pool but they won’t upload here in slow motion. I need to figure out why and hopefully I can share them tomorrow.

Time for me to sleep so that I can wake up to the ‘actual’ Sunday tomorrow!

Nothing Doing

A day at home for BGWLBH and I, while Adoring Husband drove into The Bay to run some errands.

It was a typical kind of home day for me and I got some cool pics of Harley shaking off the pool water from his coat. The early morning sunlight was caught in the water droplets …

It was good to see the Sharkies beat the Roosters tonight. I needed to get that tip correct to make up for last night’s disaster. Nobody else tipped the Sharks so I was able to catch up by 2 points.

I’m waiting on the result of Manly vs Melbourne and so far, Manly are looking the goods - although there is still ten minutes left in the game. Of course I tipped Melbourne, but so did everyone else, except my sister who is a Manly supporter. She’s coming last on the ladder so these 2 points won’t help much.

Nothing else to report from me.

These pics were taken in the Whitsundays yesterday …

Sleep time for me.

Much To Do

We left bright and early for the Maryborough markets this morning.

On the way, we stopped at Craignish traffic lights when they turned red and some crazy person came flying down the right hand lane (where people usually turn right) and he drove, at high speed, straight through the red light, narrowly missing a car coming from the left onto our road!

BGWLBH and I just gasped and looked at each other as if to say “Did that just happen?!”

It was a very unsettling start to our day.

Thankfully, the rest of the trip to Maryborough was incident free and we arrived safe n sound to walk the markets where I found lots of dog treats for Harley, some gluten free donuts, a hand made card and some natural pain relief cream.

We found a cafe to sit down and eat breakfast. I had mushrooms on gf toast with whipped feta cheese and roasted tomatoes which was quite tasty. I also ordered a Ruby Tuesday fresh juice and a small latte.

After breakfast, we finally got to visit The Bling Thing in the new premises. It was my first visit and I was quite disappointed really. I expected better quality products and a better range of jewellery - after all ‘bling’ implies shiny sparkly things!

She did sell the same range of reed diffusers that I used to sell in my shop from a supplier in Bundaberg, so I bought some of those.

From there, we walked through Station Square Mall where I bought some birthday gifts to store away.

We found Lincraft where we were excited to discover that their primed canvases were 40% off! So we stocked up on them and I found some macrame twine in gorgeous colours at half price so I grabbed a few rolls of them too.

I’ve never even done macrame before but I’m ready to teach myself once I’m done with all the art pieces I’ve planned!

We drove to The Bay where BGWLBH cancelled an order for a dehydrator because what began as a two week wait, blew out to a two month wait with The Good Guys.

The car was topped up with fuel.

We ordered some fresh juices from Su Jus Cafe before returning home.

It took quite some time to unpack the car and we were both exhausted for the remainder of the afternoon! We are getting too old for all this gadding about!

I received a call from Number One Son while I was cooking dinner tonight, which was lovely.

Dinner was duck and mash.

I watched the Rabbitohs thrash the Dolphins tonight, which was not good for my tips!

Now it’s time to sleep.

Lovely Feet

My appointment at The Massage House in Pialba was for 10.30am.

My consultant was Jill.

She massaged my feet from mid calf to the tips of my toes for 30 minutes.

Jill told me that I had great feet. No calluses or bunions or corns or cracked heels or dry skin and my toes are perfectly straight and aligned well, which is unusual for someone of my age.

I told her that I thank my mother for always having my shoes fitted professionally when I was a child and I never wore stilettos or pointy toed shoes as an adult.

It was a delightful 30 minutes and she found spots on my feet that were tight and knotted so she gave those spots a good ‘going over’, causing me a little bit of pain, but it was very much worth it.

Next time I’m going to had a ‘foot detox’ before the massage!

I was very happy with the service, the price AND the actual massage, so I’ll return.

We did lots of shopping today, including a new top for me, this years Christmas present for Chicklet, some art pens, some clothes for Hazie, groceries, lotto tickets, tea from Nana’s Pantry and we booked eye appointments at OPSM.

We didn’t have breakfast at Table Eleven as originally planned but went to one of our favourite haunts, Bean Beat instead. Now my eyelids are struggling to stay open so it’s sleep time for me.

Drive By

Apart from driving around town and delivering invitations for my birthday art day, I’ve got nothing.

Tomorrow will be different.

I’m booked in for a foot massage and I can’t wait! 30 minutes! I will give my review tomorrow.

I’ll also review the restaurant ‘Table Eleven’ where we are going for breakfast.

A Typical Day

Interesting …

The beekeeper forgot to insert the frames in the hive in which the bees collect the honey. The hardworking insects then built their own architecture from the honeycomb so that the air can flow freely and maintain a stable temperature.

Gotta love Mother Nature.

Same old routine for me today. Cooking breakfast. Playing with Harley. Doing art. Watching TV. Playing some more with Harley. Watching football. Cooking dinner.

I made a pasta dish tonight to go with honey, tamari, garlic, chilli chicken. The pasta dish included capsicum, onion, spinach and tomatoes from the garden. I added bacon, avocado and mini cubes of potato. It was quite delicious and everyone had a second helping.

Started to plan a ‘meet up’ on the Sunny Coast with an old friend from Griffith but her host tested positive to Covid today, so the plans were cancelled when they chose to isolate.

Now I’m watching ‘Farmer Wants a Wife’.

Harley is sitting at the back door crunching on a bone.

Adoring Husband has been out mowing all day but seems to be pretty chipper and alert after 5 hours of laborious work! He even chose to clean the kitchen after dinner!

Now I’m off to decide which girls will end up with which farmer.

Happy Easter

A quiet Easter Sunday for us.

BGWLBH gave us Easter gifts. Two different soy free chocolate bars for Adoring Husband and two jars of yumminess for me. Spiced pear paste and a bruschetta relish.

It was a lovely surprise but I felt bad for not having a gift for her.

I cooked up the usual breakfast for us all before taking Harley out for extended play time around the pool.

The weather was glorious today so 90 minutes by the pool was lovely … even when Harley jumped in the pool and then lay across my lap three times!

After that it was definitely necessary for me to have a shower, so I washed my hair and donned my art overalls ready to add more to my octopus…

It’s coming along nicely and so far I’m happy with it.

I baked a butter cake and topped it with passionfruit icing.

BGWLBH created a big grazing platter for our lunch.

While I was doing art, I was listening to a 90s playlist on Apple Music when the theme song from the movie “Robin Hood Prince of Thieves” came on. It was then my mission to find it and watch it!

I first looked in Foxtel where I found it, but at a price of $4.99, so I looked in Netflix and Stan without success. Then I remembered that I had a dvd of it somewhere so AH and I spent ten minutes searching through our extensive dvd library and finally found it.

It is the extended version, which I didn’t realise until after I watched it, and I was confused by parts of it that I couldn’t remember ever seeing before (I’ve watched this movie about 25 times) and the extended bits really weren’t necessary for the movie.

I still swooned over Kevin Costner. He’s a bit yummy.

We watched two games of footy, both with terrible results for my tipping. It’s been a bad weekend for my tips.

BGWLBH and I forgot about the twilight markets which were on in town this afternoon so unfortunately we missed them.

Poached chicken with baked vegetables for dinner.

Now I’m tired and it’s time to sleep.
