Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

No Deal

By lunch time, we decided to not attend the Whale Festival in The Bay.

The weather was overcast, windy and cold and we knew parking would be an issue, along with finding our way to the right viewing location.

We put it in the “too hard” basket and stayed home.

We all watched “The Gray Man” and enjoyed it very much! We even purchased junk food and filled our bellies with chips and chocolate.

I must say that I suffered for it afterwards 😳

I watched my footy team get annihilated by Number One Son’s footy team.

That sucked.

The other games were good though. I enjoyed watching Adoring Husband’s team win by one point.

I cooked up a tomato based chicken pasta meal for AH and BGWLBH but didn’t eat dinner myself.

AH and I are off to Childers in the morning. I’m sad to say that BGWLBH won’t be joining us. I’ve waited for years to get the chance to share this experience with her, but alas I don’t think it’s ever going to happen.

I’m looking forward to the day anyway. It’s always worth the trip and we’ll be leaving bright and early to nab a good parking spot and the chance to see the market stalls before the crowds take over. Comfy shoes and a hat and a purse full of cash!

So on that note …

Zoom Up Zoom Down

Senator Rennick requested information from Bill Shorten (The Minister for NDIS and Government Services). He asked four questions with regard to Covid 19 vaccines:

  1. How many claims for deaths and injuries have been paid out?
  2. How many outstanding claims are there for deaths and injuries?
  3. How many claims for deaths and injuries have been dismissed?
  4. Is a non disclosure agreement a condition of any of these payouts?
Bill Shorten answered the way that is required of him, giving no information at all and using patronising and non specific language to skirt the issue.

It’s impossible to get information, even through the FOI (Freedom of Information) claims and they often cite “providing that information will cause the Australian public to lose trust and avoid the Covid-19 health initiatives provided by Australian Health officials”… or other words to that affect.

Today I had an early zoom appointment with The Gypsy. We booked 2 hours and boy did that pass quickly!

She read my cards and gave me some direction, permission to focus on healing, confidence in what the future holds, inspiration to climb out of my comfort zone and ideas for the small steps required to move forward.

I think we both felt relaxed and comforted by our chat because we both released some ‘stuff’. I can’t believe how quickly time passes in the rare times we spend together, and it always feels like we saw each other just yesterday.

After the call I sat under the Bali hut with BGWLBH for a while. When I was alone, I did a small meditation before heading inside.

I made the marinade for our chicken and that was about the extent of my productivity.

I plonked myself in front of the TV and that’s where I stayed all afternoon.

It was a pretty chilled day.

Tomorrow, we’ve discussed spending the afternoon in The Bay for the Whale Festival and the parade. It will be interesting to see if we all are still motivated when the time comes. None of us are keen on crowds so our attitudes could change quickly.

We will definitely be attending the Childers Cultural Festival on Sunday! I’m so keen for that because we missed the last 2 years due to the Covid crap, but prior to that we had attended eleven of the last twelve years. I love that festival.

It’s nice and early so I might try some sketching before falling asleep. Very therapeutic.

Fact or Fiction

“The Ukrainian government has published a list of politicians, academics, and activists who it claims promote "Russian propaganda". Absurdly, it includes high American officials - even a sitting US senator - and a Pulitzer Price winning journalist.”

From the guy who has banned opposition parties, laundered money and vilified Russian speakers in eastern Ukraine.

There is nothing democratic about Ukraine.

Incredible to think he has time for a photo shoot in the middle of a war.

But then again this is as much a propaganda war as anything else isn’t it!

Posing for Vogue + Social Media

Dividing the Public

It’s been a quiet uneventful day.

I chopped up and froze bags of pineapple and passionfruit for future fruit whips.

I shelled three sand crabs and stored the meat in the fridge.

I had breakfast by the pool and spent around 90 minutes lazing under the Bali hut.

I investigated the garden and selected some rocket for tonight’s pizza.

I watched my quiz shows.

We played trivia from one of the books I bought on Monday.

I made pizza and barramundi for dinner, followed by fruit whip made with frozen banana, pineapple, mango, passionfruit, coconut cream, maple syrup and salt.

We watched the football.

I watched a YouTube video by The Gypsy and did the meditation at the end of it.

Tomorrow I have a zoom meeting with her. It’s been way too long since we caught up and I’m looking forward to seeing her smiling face in the morning.

Sleep time for me.

I Remembered!

I remembered to take a photo of the carport!

Even though I was out of bed before 9am, the day was not the slightest bit productive.

I made breakfast and sat by the pool. After an hour I lay down in the sun and watched BGWLBH doing manual labour in the garden for a while. Once she’d finished I decided to meditate and even did a mini ‘journey’ on myself.

Three hours later, we decided to make lunch. Wafer crackers with cheese, tomato, pickled onion, radish slivers and guacamole.

We played trivia all afternoon. I even left the full FROG box on the kitchen bench and forgot to go pick up my sand crabs from The Motivator!

It was after 3pm when Adoring Husband drove me to pick up the mail and the crabs.

I made a tuna mornay for dinner and emptied the FROG box, cleared some old stuff out of the fridge, cut up some mango cheeks to freeze and made myself a banana split for dessert. The others declined.

We played more trivia and watched Beauty and the Geek.

My painted table is still not dry and it has been four days! This cooler weather is certainly slowing the process down.

It’s not even 10.30pm and I’m ready to sleep. I had a restless night so I need to catch up. There is an icy breeze coming through the window so I can snuggle down under the covers and enjoy my sleep.

Hubby Date

While Adoring Husband attended his appointment in The Bay this morning, I got to visit Abode Junction on Main Street. I’ve been wanting to check it out for months but it’s in an awkward location without parking and it’s a long walk from Pialba Place parking area.

This morning AH dropped me off so that my walk wasn’t so daunting.

It’s a lovely shop and I purchased a candle, a reed diffuser, a book, a planter pot and soap. The lady who served me was very like minded and we had a fine old conversation about a community garden in The Bay where you can lease a small plot to grow your own vegetables! Who knew?!

AH hadn’t finished by the time I’d left that shop so I walked back to Pialba Place where I bought a losing OzLotto ticket, a green juice and some home made pain cream.

Next thing, I receive a phone call from the receptionist at the office where AH was … he had left his phone at home and needed to know where to find me!

We eventually caught up with each other and drove to Tinkerbell’s where I picked up some shungite charging plates and a lemongrass/ginger soy candle. A quick trip to Go Natural for some supplies followed by a stop at Bunnings. A lemon tree, plastic pots, hanging pot chains, a door lock and four bags of potting mix later, we moved on to Stocklands.

TKMax was the first stop for yet another candle (eucalyptus and peppermint) and a cute outfit for Hazie. QBD for some quiz/trivia books and the fruitnveg kiosk for passionfruit, pineapples and mango.

By then, we were feeling pretty worn out so we drove home, picking up my parcels from the post office first.

We had cold roast lamb, fried rice, zucchini muffins and salad for dinner followed by peach and passionfruit cheesecake with ice cream.

Yum.

We played trivia from the new books and trivia on TV until our shows came on.

It’s way after 11pm and I confess that I’m feeling pretty weary so …

Beautiful Day

10am was my rise and shine time today.

BGWLBH had already hung out that washing that I’d forgotten about yesterday.

I made some breakfast and joined her out by the pool.

The sunshine was divine and we were out there for almost two hours. It was difficult to leave and come inside but lunch needed to be made.

I made zucchini slice in the new muffin tray which worked out well because we got a dozen muffin sized zucchini slices and we played trivia while we ate.

It was quite a late lunch so I watched my quiz shows and for a bit of a late dinner I cooked some honey soy chicken thighs, fried rice, salad and left over zucchini muffins.

We played more trivia before our evening shows started - Hunted and Beauty & The Geek.

Now it’s after 11pm and I’m ready for bed.

I still haven’t taken a pic of the new carport! I must do that tomorrow!

Adoring Husband and I have a Bay Date tomorrow so I’d best rest up.

Tour the Garden

BGWLBH has created this flourishing healthy vibrant array of garden beds over the last couple of months and it’s all looking incredibly happy.

She loves plants and trees and growing things and she talks to each plant like it’s a person so she forms relationships in the garden. I swear I can see the plants smiling and quivering when they see her coming!

We’ve already savoured the many herbs (coriander, thyme, mint, rosemary, rocket, parsley, dill), tomatoes, lettuce, peas, radish and chillies. There’s so much more to come and we already have the beginnings of zucchini and strawberries forming beautifully.

I can’t wait to have so much produce that we’re giving it away!

Today was quite busy for me starting off with a tea/coffee date with a lady in need. I did a load of washing (which reminds me I forgot to hang it out!) and then visited The Motivator for her birthday. It was lovely to see her Mum who is visiting for a couple of months and it was good to see TM even though we didn’t get to chat about personal stuff.

I returned home in time to watch some football before doing roast lamb and veg for dinner.

We watched The Hunted and I phoned Bubbles for her birthday. She is busy and stressed with work but otherwise seems to be doing well. It was nice to hear her voice.

I attempted to watch Beauty and the Geek which I had recorded but the recording ended long before the end of the show. So annoying!!

Now it’s almost midnight again so it’s sleep time for me.

Nite all.
