Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Footy Everywhere

It’s been a big few days of footy.

Three games on Thursday (ANZAC day), two games Friday night and two games tonight. I love footy season.

Today I watched My Big Fat Greek Wedding 3. I enjoyed it.

BGWLBH and I spent Friday in the Bay and Adoring Husband mowed our lawns, front and back.

It’s been a very uneventful few days, which is why I haven’t posted here.

I have a couple of art ideas in my head. I want to create portraits of my grandkids in this style …

Don’t hold your breath because I’m going to have to feel very brave to attempt these. I’m very keen but also very scared of stuffing it up. No reason to be scared really. I can just keep trying til I get it right!

I’ve done some colouring in …

Now it’s time to sleep.

Nite all.

We Were Married

Fourteen years ago today, we were married at the Lions Park by the river.

Tonight, Adoring Husband organised a picnic dinner and we made our way to the same Lions Park to watch the sun set.

It was a peaceful and pleasant way to celebrate our anniversary and AH gave me a beautiful card.

In June, it will be the 21st anniversary of when we met online and in September, the 21st anniversary of when we met in person.

Otherwise, it was a quiet day binge watching Portrait Artist of the Year 2023.

A special Happy Birthday to The Duchess …

Now it’s time to sleep.

I Was Born

It is very important to go out alone, to sit under a tree—not with a book, not with a companion, but by yourself—and observe the falling of a leaf, hear the lapping of the water, the fishermen’s song, watch the flight of a bird, and of your own thoughts as they chase each other across the space of your mind. If you are able to be alone and watch these things, then you will discover extraordinary riches which no government can tax, no human agency can corrupt, and which can never be destroyed. ~Jiddu Krishnamurti

Happy birthday to me 🎈

Happy birthday to me 🎈

My day started late because I didn’t feel like getting out of bed, so I let Harley out and returned to bed until 9.30am.

I played with Harley and then made arrangements with Adoring Husband and BGWLBH about what time we were leaving for lunch.

We arrived at Arkarra Tea Gardens for my birthday lunch at 11.30am.

AH ordered crispy chicken salad.

BGWLBH ordered falafel salad.

I ordered grilled barramundi with chips and salad.

All of it was delicious, as was my tropical mocktail.

It was all over in an hour and we returned home to savour the GF goodies that BGWLBH had bought yesterday. I placed some candles in some of them (see the pic above) and made a wish as I blew them out.

We all spent the afternoon in separate spaces recovering from it all.

Yep! I think that makes us officially old!

I’ve received lots of birthday messages and phone calls and I think it’s been a pretty perfect day.

Now I need to sleep.
