Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Storm Season

First BIG storm of the season!

We got hail! It was tiny hail, but there was plenty of it and I didn’t take any pics for proof 🫤

There was wind, lightning, thunder and 20mm of rain.

The furniture under the Bali hut got drenched and it was a struggle to get the cars under cover because the storm was upon us before we even realised it was coming.

The weather was with us from 2pm until 5pm but the last hour was the most hectic.

BGWLBH and I spent the day in the Bay and as I was in the last shop for the day, I received a phone call from Adoring Husband warning us of the storm heading towards home.

Our timing was perfect. The rain on the way home was light and intermittent and we had time to unpack the car before it came down heavily.

Harley was annoyed that we couldn’t go out and play in the storm. It was 4.30pm by the time I took him out for a quick run between storms and we only got ten minutes, but he was happy with that.

I cooked a hearty chicken and vegetable soup for dinner. It was bloody delicious!

Now it’s time to sleep.

12 Fridays til Christmas

It rained today but there was absolutely nothing showing on the BOM website. I think we had about 5mm.

Today, I watched the movie “Lou”, which I’ve seen before, but I enjoyed it the second time.

I wasn’t in the mood for cooking so it was GF beef pies with leftover salad from last night for my team mates while I had chicken bone broth with two poached wings.

We played trivia for an hour and now it’s time to sleep.

Ageing Gracefully

CHANGE THE WAY YOU SEE

I don’t have crow’s feet,

I have happy, happy memories of laughing with friends until the tears flowed.

I don’t have frown lines,

I have the marks of my frustration and confusion, which I battled through, smiling in the end.

I am not going grey,

I have shimmering highlights of wisdom, dashed throughout my silver hair.

I don’t have scars,

I have symbols of the strength I was able to find when life got tough.

I don’t have stretch marks,

I have the marks of growth and the marks of motherhood. My womanly evolution.

I am not fat,

I bear the evidence of a life filled with abundance, blessings, and good times.

I am not just forgetful,

I have a mind so full of stories, memories, and moments that there is scarce room to hold much else.

I am not old,

I am blessed with a life of great length, something not everyone can say.

Don’t change the way you look, my friend,

change the way you see.

Sadly, there was no meditation today because The Gypsy was ill, but it was nice to stay in bed and not have to rush into the day.

After Harley play, I reheated some chicken broth and sat down to watch a couple of fluffy movies on Foxtel. I fell asleep during the 2nd movie and missed most of it. I’d say I got over an hour of sleep.

I decided that Adoring Husband could cook on the barbecue for dinner and I made three salads. Coleslaw, potato salad and a garden salad.

We played trivia for an hour before watching MKR.

Now it’s time to sleep.

Heal and Rest

Yesterday, I ate food that’s on my “banned list”.

Today, I have suffered in silence and remained in bed for most of the day.

I got up to play with Harley in the morning and again in the afternoon.

I also cooked spaghetti and meatballs for Adoring Husband and BGWLBH for dinner.

Healing chicken bone broth with a couple of poached chicken wings for my dinner - my only meal of the day.

We played YouTube trivia for an hour.

Now I’m back in bed listening to my belly growl and grumble and moan and groan and bubble like a witch’s cauldron.

Still on a high over the Broncos making it to the grand final!

Now it’s time to sleep.

Let’s Go Broncos!

I cannot believe it!

Penrith Panthers were full on favourites to beat the Broncos and go on to win their fifth grand final in a row next week.

Panthers were winning 14-0 at half time and it was not looking good for my Broncos.

But the Broncos hung on and they fought hard and they came back to win 16-14 preventing Panthers from scoring any points in the second half.

What a game!

It was so stressful to watch and they only hit the lead with three minutes left on the clock.

Such a relief.

Also …

The Broncos women won their qualifying final today against Newcastle winning 30-6 so both Broncos teams are in the grand final next weekend!

Doesn’t get any better than that!

I’m mentally and emotionally drained. Way too much excitement for one day.

On that note, I’m off to attempt sleep.
