Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Getting It On

I have had a productive book day.

There is a website that provides free stock photos for downloading, so I spent a couple of hours looking through them selecting a good variety to use in the book. It's amazing the quality of the photos.

I located the Apple application to use for my book. I don't like the format that I used last time, so I'll transfer it over to the new one which looks a lot easier to use and has lots of good options.

My first book/guide didn't have a dedication page OR a book description for the sales page so I wrote them this afternoon.

These are my tools of trade ...

I am enjoying the process.

Instead of 'fend for yourself' dinner, I did a 'fend for yourself' lunch. Garlic prawns with lemon and a fresh bread roll.

In between everything, Adoring Husband and I watched a couple of episodes of The Great British Bake Off.

Tonight was the second match of the preseason NRL between Penrith Panthers and Canberra Raiders. Canberra won! None of their top players were in the match so it's not a true indication of how they'll perform in the true season.

I have made my bed for 39 days in a row! I like this new habit and I especially like laying down on the made bed during the day.

Now I'm in my bed and ready for sleep.

Ending the Week

After a cup of tea and a Harley play, I wrapped Chicklet's birthday present and made myself presentable for a drive into The Bay with BGWLBH.

I had a list.

Butcher, baker, supermarket, fresh seafood, fresh fruit and veg, newsagent, Su Jus and a few shops to browse through as well.

The weather was quite reasonable - considering how hot and muggy it's been - today was bearable.

There were no idiots on the road, for a change.

We arrived home by 2pm and my main mission was to find the charging cord for my old 2009 computer, where I thought my book was saved.

I wrote a small book, actually, it was more of a guide than a book, in 2016 and I want to re-edit it, add some more information and photos to change it from a 'guide' to a 'book'.

My plan is to sell it on Amazon accompanied by 2 diaries, a journal, a planner and a deck of affirmation cards.

That's my goal for the year of 2025.

Anyway, Adoring Husband and I spent a LOT of time searching for this cord and eventually found it in a storage box in a wardrobe in one of the back bedrooms.

I plugged it in and charged it enough to start searching.

Amazingly, I remembered the password to log in!! I spent a good 20 minutes diving deep into the files and poring through the hundreds of files from all those years ago.

I found lots of interesting things but absolutely no sign of the book.

Ugh! 😩

So I unplugged it and went back to my other, less old, laptop. Why didn't I check there first? Because I was certain it was in the original Apple Mac!

Lo and behold, there was my book. Three copies of it!

Now I'm excited to get cracking and put my plan in motion. I'm not going to rush. I'm going to take my time and let everything flow naturally without stress or anxiety.

AH cooked the usual fare of chicken wings for dinner and we are watching the first NRL preseason game between Sharks and Warriors. Sadly for AH, Warriors are winning 12-6 with 20 minutes to go.

I am ready for bed. It's been a busy day.

A Long Happy Day

By the time I arrived at the Lions Park, the art girls were already waiting! I was the last to arrive.

We had two hours of laughing and gossiping and looking at wedding photos and venting and telling hilarious stories and counting dead people and other such nonsense.

I provided the snacks.

Next time we'll plan a lunch and an art day.

It was a most enjoyable morning and I look forward to the next one.

From there, I triked to the supermarket where I purchased some berries, a mango, a couple of avocados, a bag of lemons and a birthday card.

I returned to the Lions Park just in time to find shelter before the rains came.

I had taken my camera with the hope of finding 'puddles' for the next 52Frames theme, so the rain was very welcome and I captured this ...

It's my favourite pic from today, but I still have three days to come up with something better.

I messaged Heart of Gold to let her know that I was at the park and about 20 minutes later, she arrived on her bicycle.

We spent 2.5 hours chatting about everything and nothing. Solved some of life's problems, told some of our life story and agreed that we had done well to become reasonably successful human beings.

We judged AND praised our parents for the way they raised us acknowledging their faults and failings as well as their resilience and fearlessness in the face of adversity.

We pedalled home together and arrived home at 3.30pm, just before the heavens opened! Our timing was immaculate.

Harley was very excited to see me and about 15 minutes later, Adoring Husband arrived home from golf. He was drenched!

He changed into dry clothes and headed off to the pub to meet his golfing buddies for a couple of drinks.

I sat on the couch editing photos until it was time to cook dinner.

Easy nachos because I was too buggered to put in any effort.

Now I'm ready for some deep sleep.

Checking In

At 9.23am, Adoring Husband sent a text to me asking if I was alive!

He did that because I was still in bed. As was Harley!

Last night, I found my favourite “deep sleep and cellular healing” music on YouTube - it’s only the second time I’ve used it because I was testing all the others in the mix - but this one has twice put me into a deep sound sleep for more than 8 hours, so I’ll use it every night.

I turned on the music at 11pm and I woke up at 8.17am. I didn’t even get up to pee during the night!

So AH’s text read “Are you alive?”

I replied “Thanks for asking 😊 yes”

Harley also didn’t stir all night and didn’t try to wake me at the usual time either, so it must affect him too.

There was nothing happening today, so AH and I caught up on our favourite TV shows from the night before and there was Harley play.

Tonight I made curry puffs with mash, green beans and snow peas followed by home made apple strudel and ice cream.

Yummo.

Tomorrow I have two dates. One with my art girls and one with Heart of Gold 💛 It should be a good day!

So I need another good sleep tonight.

Emotional

This morning, our meditation class was full of emotion.

The timing has been extended temporarily, from 60 minutes to 90 minutes, which means extra time to share and extra time to dive into emotional baggage.

The group has been meditating together, on a weekly basis, for 7 years, so we all know each other very well and feel comfortable sharing our deep and meaningfuls.

There is one newbie in the class who has attended around 10 sessions but that person obviously feels comfortable with us because there was emotional overload today.

It was really quite wonderful and cleansing and heartwarming.

Afterwards, I had three hours with The Gypsy, which was like a further counselling session, so I am quite exhausted!

By the time I arrived home, it was around 1.15pm.

Adoring Husband had a zoom call with the lead Parkinson's nurse, who checked his DBS monitor and made some adjustments remotely, to hopefully improve his speech and reduce the cough that he's had since his surgery.

We will know by tomorrow afternoon whether that has been successful.

AH cooked lamb loin chops on the barbecue. I did sweet potato and potato chips in the air fryer and made a fresh coleslaw and garden salad.

We played trivia for about 45 minutes and watched MAFS.

Now I really need to sleep.

Less Productive

Again, I woke late after listening to the sleep meditation music from YouTube.

It was raining, but I squeezed in a short play with Harley while listening to yet another webinar about psychic senses, natural instincts and healing energy. It was very interesting.

Adoring Husband spent time on the phone remedying the lost money from his account - which turned out to be an error by HIM and nobody stole anything and now he's a step closer to being placed into care - he thinks I'm joking.

Haha.

Joke's on him!

Then we had the TV guy come to fix the splitters in the ceiling for our rear three TVs.

It seems that the aircon guys did NOT mess with the cabling (as AH suggested) and our splitters, after 16years, had deteriorated and needed replacing.

TVs are now working.

I caught up on last night's episode of Celebrity AND Australian Idol.

Harley and I got to squeeze in another play between rain showers this afternoon.

I crumbed some chicken, boiled potatoes in their jackets and made a fresh coleslaw for dinner.

No art. No photography. No journaling.

A step closer to creating my book/journals/affirmation cards.

Time to sleep now.

Sleepy Sunday

I opened YouTube on my bedroom television last night and played meditation music specifically for deep sleep.

It was pretty amazing because I fell asleep instantly and slept until 8.15am. I did not stir all night!

I think I’ll save that one and use it often.

After our morning play, I gave Harley his treats and then made myself presentable to go into The Bay with BGWLBH.

Because it’s Sunday, we expected Stocklands to be pretty quiet, but it was surprisingly busy, as was Pialba Place!

We stocked up on some art supplies, did our lotto, bought junk food, explored the cheap shops, got some goodies for dinner and then stopped at our local Farmgate for fresh eggs and zucchini.

We were home before 2.30pm and Harley gave me his usual raucous welcome.

Tonight was GF beef pies with sweet potato and potato mash, green beans and carrot. It filled everyone’s bellies.

Dinner was early so we had time to play trivia before our Sunday night shows came on at 7pm.

I’m watching MAFS, recording Celebrity and tomorrow I’ll watch Australian Idol on 7Play.

Meanwhile I have another webinar to watch!
