Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Make Up Sales

Today was a blinder!

Not quite record breaking but it certainly made up for Friday’s low sales … and then some!

There were a couple of times when I had a queue of people waiting to be served!

My only quiet time was the last hour when I chose to plant my butt and take a breath and shut down my brain.

Adoring Husband helped me shut up shop, we did a little grocery shopping and came home to watch some Netflix.

I did my washing and we watched the football - I got all 3 of today’s games wrong on my tipping card. Not that it matters because I’m coming 2nd last in our family group.

It’s almost 11pm so it’s time to sleep.

Tomorrow is lunch with the Babes minus Aggie who is still recovering from surgery. It’s a later start than usual so I still get to sleep in a little.

The weather will be perfect. The food will be delicious. We will be surrounded by nature. The company will be the best.

Watch this space for photos.

Life Choices

For my friends and family who have recently received their CV shot or who know they will get one soon, awesome for you. I can see how relieved you are and I’m so glad that this option is available for you!

For my friends who aren’t sure they will get one just yet, or already know that they never will, I want to throw some love and respect your way too. I am happy that you have that choice. Medical freedom is important.

The wonderful thing about informed consent is that two people with the same information, can make two completely different choices and neither of them is right or wrong. That is what medical freedom is and should be.

There are benefits and risks to every medical procedure. Doing the “right thing” means you’ve weighed the risks and benefits for yourself, and are making an informed decision! The only wrong decision IMO is made purely out of fear, social pressure or emotional reactivity. If you have researched your decision and are comfortable with it....great!

What’s right for one person, may be wrong for the other, both on an intuitive and biological level. We’re all doing the best we can with the information we hopefully have spent time digging into.

Let this be a gentle reminder *for all* to please respect each other and be mindful of the message we put out there.

Not everyone is “wrong” because they believe differently than you. They very likely have just as strong a reason for their choice as you.

Remember this information is also part of ones personal health information act and you have the right to not answer when asked whether you choose to get the shot or not.

So whether you choose;

✅CV shot

✅No shot

✅Tequila shot ðŸĪŠ

You’re okay in my books and I respect YOUR DECISION

You’re NOT ok in my books when you start being rude to others because they made a decision that was BEST for them.

I was very busy today but sales were low.

I must have spent close to two hours on the phone with four different sales reps. I was given a big bag of hand made jewellery to sift through, by a lady who visits town annually. I purchased her jewellery last year and sold all but two items, so it took me about 45 minutes to select my favourites from her collection today.

My macrame lady also popped in with two of her pieces that I requested shells be attached. She’s done a good job.

Because my sleep was very restless last night, I was feeling tired and lethargic by 1pm and the last hour of the day was a struggle for me.

This afternoon Adoring Husband was not feeling the best, so he lay down for a couple of hours. Instead of his usual Friday night fare, I heated up last night’s leftover green chicken curry for his dinner and I enjoyed a chicken, avocado and lettuce sandwich.

We’ve been watching the football but it’s almost 9pm and I’m ready for ðŸ˜ī 🛌

Thirsty Thursday

I started my day with a big fat green juice.

Baby spinach, apple, cucumber, celery, mint, coconut water and a scoop of powder which contains prebiotics, probiotics, digestive enzymes and other vitamins and minerals.

I was hoping it would give me an energy boost big enough to help me clean my desk, unpack new stock, steam the clothes, serve the customers, order more tissue paper and wrapping paper and answer my emails.

It didn’t.

By midday, I’d lost my mojo and parked my butt for the remainder of the day only moving it to serve customers.

Sales were good!

I had a brief visit from Mrs Bucket. She blew in and blew out like a little whirlwind.

Adoring Husband and I visited the butcher for a bulk buy just in case the truckies blockade next week.

As soon as we arrived home, I was straight into the kitchen putting a whole chook in the oven and also preparing a green curry chicken for dinner.

AH had SES training tonight so it was an early dinner for us both because he had to leave at 5.30pm.

On that note, I am off to bed. The Bachelor is over and I’ll watch the rest of the footy in bed.

Prepped

After hearing warnings that next week, Australian truck drivers will be blocking all the highways into every state, Adoring Husband and I decided to do a little prepping.

We drove into The Bay and filled our trolley with enough supplies to sustain us until mid September.

Even if the blockade doesn’t happen, we won’t have to visit The Bay for a while, which is always a good thing!

There didn’t seem to be too many in the supermarket with the same idea as us but I’m thinking that as the time draws nearer and the media start spruking, people will start panic buying.

We have sufficient toilet paper 😎

There were only two empty seats at meditation this morning and we discussed vices, virtues and powers.

It was a good class and afterwards, some of the girls remained behind for a chat while The Gypsy used the treatment room with a client.

The shop was quiet in the morning so I got some more quality time with The Gypsy.

Sales were average.

I received all the goodies that I ordered for the jewellery/trinket class that I’ll be running next month.

I attempted to purchase some Floetrol from Bunnings. They were out of stock so I went online and ordered 2 x 4L bottles.

I was hoping to receive some Cenzoni leather phone wallets today - specifically for a customer who is leaving town for a couple months but unfortunately they didn’t arrive so she’ll have to wait until she returns.

It has indeed been a long day so I’m ready to sleep.

Back in Style

It was the perfect start to the day with The Brains Trust, Maid Marian and Beauty having coffee with me at the shop. We talked a LOT and it was after 11am when they left to enjoy the remainder of their day.

My cleaner came early and I had her steaming her little heart out for an hour. There is still a lot more to do but she reduced my load considerably and I should finish that chore tomorrow.

I had more stock delivered today in the form of essential oils, incense and candles so I also have some pricing to do tomorrow.

That desk is still waiting!

Sales were very good.

I have some phone wallets arriving tomorrow and I need to order some Intrinsic coffee mugs and magnetic lists.

The early part of tomorrow is going to be nice and cold and I have an early start for meditation.

After work, Adoring Husband and I will be driving into The Bay for supplies so it’s going to be a long day.

Best get some sleep.

Lift Off!

And we had lift off!!

I finally got my trip to Childers!

We left a little bit earlier than necessary and surprisingly (or not), I suggested to Adoring Husband that because we had some time to spare, we should pop into the shoe shop!

😎

The results of that trip …

After my retail therapy, I met with The Gypsy and we drank a large ginger, mango and passion fruit juice over a two hour period while we shared feelings, thoughts, experiences, beliefs and ideas.

The time passed incredibly fast but it was quality time and I left feeling energised and rejuvenated and inspired.

The traffic was pretty crazy on the highway both on the way to Childers and again on the return trip. The drive is not pleasant when everyone is in such a hurry to get to their destination, with lots of tailgating and risky overtaking.

We were home well before 1.30pm and I prepared lunch while AH rested up after the stressful drive.

At 4pm we headed down to the shop to clear the training room ready for Tuesday coffee and journaling.

I cooked creamy chicken and mushrooms with broccoli and cauliflower for dinner.

We watched The Voice.

Now we’re in bed.

Feeling weary.

Self Inflicted

Saturday was a great day.

In all ways.

Krocca arrived at 9.30am to help set up the training room for the art class. We always have quality time together. There are some people with whom you connect easily and Krocca is one of those people.

After we’d finished setting up, she left and it was a slow relaxing start in the shop which gave me time to do a few chores (which did not include clearing my desk) and mix my paints for the art class. I had a couple of sales but customers really began flowing in the last hour.

It was a busy final hour!

The class participants started arriving almost 15 minutes earlier than usual. There were only six of us, but it was a great group and we had a lot of fun.

Instead of trying to save the leftover paint that we’d mixed for the wave, I suggested we use it, however we liked, on a different canvas.

We were finished before 3pm which gave us time to have a drink and a chat.

I had plans for the evening and had to leave by 3.30pm to give myself time to be ready for a 4.30pm pick up. The girls knew this but I really had to shove a couple of them out the door at 3.30pm!

Thankfully, it was a smooth preparation for me and I was ready with time to spare. The Brains Trust arrived as planned and discovered my Lorraine Lea delivery at the front door, which must have been there for 24 hours!

Clearly, we never use our front door ðŸ˜ģ

This was our evening …

It was a fabulous evening. Great company, delicious food, beautiful setting and relaxing atmosphere.

There were seven courses and some included gluten. It was silly of me, but I chose to eat them or at the very least, taste them all.

This meant we had to make a hasty departure immediately after the final course, which was served almost 5 hours after we arrived.

My body held up well until I arrived home, at which point I began to suffer.

I expect no sympathy because it was self inflicted and I would do it again … because it was worth it!

After a rocky start, I slept soundly until 10.30am!

My tummy complained for most of the day today but I remained in bed and ate healing food like vegetable soup for lunch and mixed berries for dinner.

Tonight I’m feeling much better.

I spent the day learning about narcissism, gaslighting and authenticity. Psychological terms worth knowing about and recognising the people in your past who can be easily tagged with these labels.

Very educational.

Tomorrow, my plan is for that Childers visit that has been cancelled twice now. Fingers crossed, third time lucky!
