Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Cake and All

Happy Birthday to BGWLBH!

We were up bright and early to beat the crowds to Howard Markets.

I gave BGWLBH her first small gift to start the day with a giggle …

Upon arrival at the markets, we found a coffee van of course!

We bought lots of fruit and vegetables, dog treats, a toy bat mobile for Adoring Husband, some king salmon and sand crabs, some Do Terra Ice, a plant, a plant pot, soap, a pair of overalls and ALMOST an apron!

By the time we made our way to the car, our granny trolley was very full and very heavy!

We ran into some people from town which was lovely and there were lots of dogs on leashes. I stopped to cuddle some chihuahuas, one of which was only 8 weeks old. Too cute for words. There was also a very big, very ugly Bull Terrier that I avoided.

We were home before 9am and I cooked breakfast for BGWLBH and gave her a bag of birthday gifts which she loved.

After an hour playing with Harley, I baked a birthday cake. Vanilla sponge with lemon icing - as requested by BGWLBH.

While I waited for it to bake, I did some more to my wave.

Still a way to go yet.

BGWLBH did these …

We lit candles and sang happy birthday while our herbal tea steeped and then we each enjoyed a slice. It was yummy.

I watched the football all afternoon and evening and I was very grateful to have baked a double lasagne last week so that all I had to do was heat it in the oven, make some garlic bread and a garden salad. The perfect birthday dinner.

It’s now 11.30pm so I’m off to sleep.

To Market

BGWLBH and I have decided to set up a table at the local art and craft expo in June.

I contacted the woman in charge and we were lucky enough to snare the last available table!

Now, the race is on to create enough art to sell over a seven hour day.

BGWLBH has heaps of art and lots of ideas for more to create in the next 4 weeks until the expo.

I, however, have very little art to sell and even fewer ideas!

I’ve almost finished my lion …

… and this is what I started tonight while watching the football …

That pretty much filled my day.

Tomorrow is BGWLBH’s birthday and we are off to the markets in the morning so id best get some sleep!

Taking it Easy

I was feeling a little ‘out of sorts’ today so I took it pretty easy.

Besides cooking breakfast, playing with Harley and then preparing a delicious lasagne for dinner I did nothing else but plant my butt in front of the telly.

I really wanted to do some art but just couldn’t wrap my brain it, so I admired BGWLBH’s work instead …

It was a glorious day, so sitting under the Bali hut while playing with Harley was a very pleasant way to spend an hour or two.

Wishing Rebel Mardi a happy birthday for today 🥂 and sending my love via cyberspace.

Time to sleep now, before the clock strikes midnight.

Detoxing Upwards

Today, I experienced a “first”.

I had an Ionic Detoxing Foot Bath.

The ioniser, which is placed in a hot foot bath, releases ions through the water and into your body. Your cells are energised by the ions and release the toxins, oils, acids, fats, heavy metals, cellular debris and waste that has accumulated in your body.

After 30 minutes, the water turns dark brown/yellow. My naturopath said that for some people, the water turns completely black.

I followed the foot bath with a foot massage that included a bit of reflexology.

The results of my hour long treatment left me feeling lighter, a little more energised and clearer in my head. I didn’t need an afternoon nap for the first time in weeks but later tonight I experienced an unexpected ‘complete cleansing’ (if you know what I mean) and I feel completely purged of everything toxic that was in my body!

The entire treatment cost me $75 and I think I’ll do it again in a couple of weeks.

We had a busy day starting with breakfast at Bean Beat, followed by grocery shopping, art shopping, office works, bakery, butcher, optometrist, newsagent, nail salon, Su Jus cafe and the cheap shop.

We picked up the FROG box on the way home and checked the Post Office and then took forever to unpack the car at home.

I cooked lamb chops, zucchini slice in the muffin tray and salad for dinner.

Now it’s almost midnight and it’s time to sleep.

The First Time

This morning was the first time that Harley didn’t tell me he wanted to get up.

At 6.45am he was still sitting quietly in his sleeping pen when I opened the door for him to greet the day.

It felt quite strange, but I hope it’s the beginning of many later morning starts.

After breakfast and Harley play, I showered and washed my hair to look presentable for a ZOOM meeting with The Gypsy.

She is still struggling a little with her health but is slowly improving and gaining some of her weight back which, after 5 months, is great.

We had 90 minutes on ZOOM which wasn’t long enough.

BGWLBH has been doing her beautiful art …

… and I started this …

A LONG way to go yet. It looks a bit childish and amateur right now but I have high hopes.

Adoring Husband spent quite some time in the front garden digging weeds. From the street, our house looks like nobody lives here. Only the cars in the driveway indicate there are residents!

Our neighbour caused some excitement in the street when a crane arrived to lift her swimming pool over the house and into the back yard. Harley was momentarily upset and gave the pool a good barking to!

I napped on the couch again today and made easy tacos for dinner.

I’m looking forward to a foot detox and massage tomorrow so it’s time for me to sleep now.

Ugly Sounds

I woke at 3.15am to the sound of Harley throwing up 😳

His body was rejecting two small shards of bone that he had swallowed the previous day.

Then he needed to go outside. I don’t know what he did but he was out in the dark for about 15 minutes.

We both fell back to sleep almost instantly.

He still got me up at 6.15am.

My morning was spent cooking, playing, washing and cleaning the rest of my ensuite, interrupted by an hour long visit from Mrs Bucket.

My afternoon was spent watching quiz shows, napping on the couch, playing with Harley and cooking dinner.

BGWLBH spent the day cleaning and creating beautiful art. No pics yet.

Now I’m yawning uncontrollably so I’m off to sleep.

Never Ever

In more than 625 rounds of football over 25 years of footy tipping, I have never had a week as bad as this one!

I got ONE correct out of eight!

I’m horrified and ashamed and embarrassed and disappointed.

HOWEVER …

If that’s the worst thing that happens to me this year, I’ll be doing ok 👍

Nothing spectacular happened today, same old, same old …

Harley play, cooking, washing, art, watching a movie, watching footy and cleaning out two drawers and the cupboard in my ensuite bathroom.

That cleaning job took 55 minutes! I threw out approximately 15 lipsticks, 4 face powders, 2 compacts of eyeshadows, 4 eyeliner pencils, 2 mascaras, a bronzer, a blush, 5 make up brushes, 2 empty bottles of milkshake conditioner, 2 bottles of nail polish and much much more.

There’s nothing like a good decluttering!

My next job will be decluttering my wardrobe. That’ll be a doozy!

I think it’s time for me to sleep now.
