Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Catching Up

I had to catch up on some sleep today.

Staying up late to watch the tennis, takes its toll after a while, especially when you’re an old duck like me.

I prepared an early lunch for Adoring Husband and I, then Harley and I came to bed at 12.20pm and we slept until after 4pm!

We played in the rain (12mm today) for about 20 minutes before I came inside to prepare dinner.

My own creation of chicken thigh fillets, onion, paprika, white pepper, salt, bacon, penne pasta, chard from the garden,  spicy home made pumpkin soup, burnt sage butter, toasted pine nuts and a dollop of sour cream. It was bloody nice!

No trivia tonight because there’s too much tennis to watch.

Both Aussies are putting up a good fight.

I’m still waiting for some motivation to kick in.

Zero Zip Nada

That’s how much motivation I had today. Zero. Zip. Nada.

I did nothing on my short “to do” list that I mentioned yesterday.

Reluctantly and under sufferance, I pulled the decorations from the Christmas tree and packed them away. Took down the tinsel and other decorations from around the house. Helped Adoring Husband fold up, wrap up and tie up the Christmas tree into its home for the coming year.

I made the marinade for tonight’s chicken wings.

Spent about 90 minutes with Harley in and around the pool, which was lovely.

Watched tennis and cricket.

I’d love to do some journalling but I keep opening the new journals and am very hesitant to spoil their fresh new clean pages with my ink. It’s always the hardest part for me. Writing that first word on a fresh clean page.

Let’s hope that tomorrow brings some motivation.

Oh Kay!

It was a really OK day.

I swam, floated, played in the pool … twice!

Of course, Harley joined me.

The pool guy came and added three bags of magnesium to the water.

I did some more to my vision board …

It’s slow going.

I watched plenty of tennis and plenty of cricket.

I cooked southern style chicken with baked vegetables for dinner.

Watched more tennis.

I have a short “to do” list for tomorrow …

  • Cook food to make Harley food packs
  • Clean out the fridge
  • Finish decluttering my bedroom
  • Make apple tarts
Well wait and see how motivated I am tomorrow.

Right now, I’m motivated to sleeping to the sound of healing Hz. It could be psychosomatic, but I feel like it’s working. I’ll give it another week and get back to you.

Three Days In

Three days into 2024 and so far so good.

A quick-ish trip into The Bay this morning.

BGWLBH and I decided to have breakfast in town and after much discussion, we decided on Cafe Balaena because we like the marina and because I wanted to buy some crab meat from the little shop behind Urangan Fisheries.

On the way there, a farmer was parked on the side of the road on the esplanade selling trays of mangoes, so we quickly found a parking space and I dodged heavy traffic to run across the road to grab one of the remaining 5 trays.

There were 4 people behind me so she would get to return home earlier than expected. I estimated that she had sold 25 trays ($30 per tray) already. Good for her!

Our next stop was the new bakery on Dayman Street for a fresh loaf of sour dough bread. It was BUSY! I could barely fit inside the shop with the other 25 people waiting to be served. The tables were filled, inside and out, with people eating hot pies and sausage rolls for breakfast. Very popular.

We arrived at Cafe Balaena smack on 10am and asked for a table for two but were immediately turned away with the announcement that breakfast service was over.

Annoying.

So we decided on the Boat Club. It was one of the worst breakfasts we’ve ever had. We saw it come out to the counter, but it sat there while the girl made our coffees and by the time they called us, our breakfast was barely warm, the yolks of our eggs were set, the gf bread was rock hard and the coffee was not hot.

From there we drove around the corner to buy my crab meat, freshly shelled this morning. Yum.

As we usually do, we drove around some back streets checking out houses, looking for “for sale” signs and judging how well maintained the houses and their gardens were to determine the type of neighbourhood we were inspecting.

Lotto tickets were next on our list. We couldn’t find a park near the Scarness newsagency, so we drove on to Main Street, then on to Pialba shopping centre for the butcher, Choice and Coles.

We drove home in fairly heavy traffic (as it was on the way into town this morning) and everyone was sitting on 80km which was weird.

Before we drove home, we stopped at our local butcher, baker, checked the mail and grabbed a couple of grocery items.

We were home before 2pm.

I had played with Harley in the morning and we played again this afternoon.

I cooked chicken pieces in a honey/soy sauce with rice and snow peas for dinner and we played trivia briefly before watching Australia defeat Serbia in the United Cup tennis tournament.

Surprisingly, the Australian, Alex De Minaur, defeated Djokovic in straight sets! He played brilliantly and deserved the win. Djokovic wasn’t playing to his usual high standard but De Minaur was playing better than his own usual high standard.

Now I think I need to sleep.

Oh and I was impressed with the sound video last night and I’m going to play it again tonight. I’ll keep you posted!

A Pleasant Day

Scientists CAN’T Explain Why This Audio HEALS People! (10 hours) 111Hz

I am going play this all night so I’ll fall asleep to it and it will do its healing work as I sleep. I’ll let you know my review in tomorrow nights post.

I’ve had quite a lovely day.

The first hour was, of course, Harley play.

My vision board was calling to me so instead of finishing my room as planned, I was distracted in a good way and did some more to my board.

Heart of Gold joined me for a couple of hours. She was delivering some magazines to me so I invited her to join me with her vision board.

She left before noon.

I heated up some spinach and ricotta rolls and chicken strips for lunch. They weren’t that nice so I won’t buy them again.

Harley and I retired to my bedroom to watch Djokovic play in the United Cup. He won.

Harley and I played some more before I did roast chicken and veggies for dinner.

We played some trivia and then watched some 20/20 cricket and some more tennis. I love tennis season in Oz.

Now it’s time to sleep.

Happy 2024

First day of the new year.

I began the year with a swim, a float, some stretching, qigong and of course lots of Harley play. I couldn’t think of a better way to start my year.

Just for a change, I made myself a big breakfast. Pork sausage, poached egg, potato salad, beetroot and two pieces of toast with a cup of tea.

Once I’d downed all of that, it was time to declutter/clean my bedroom.

In three hours, I had cleaned less than half of it!

I emptied out all the bedside drawers, cleaned them, sorted through all the crap that I’ve thrown in them for the last year and then cleared the top.

It’s amazing how many books, cards, pens, notes, journals, device stands, tissue boxes, oracle cards, essential oils, glasses, water bottles, scrunchies, safety pins, paper clips etc etc you can store on such a small surface!

I cleaned my bedside lamps which are quite large.

I had piles of health books on the floor against the wall beside the bed, along with journals, more oracle cards, a box full of Chicklet letters, course materials, photos, art paraphernalia and other stuff so I cleared all of that out so there is now bare floor.

My clothes basket was full so I did my washing. I still have some hand washing to do.

In the corner, I had bags of gifts, so put them all in the ‘gift cupboard’ in the family room.

I cleared about 25 items from my wardrobe to deliver to an op shop. I’ll do the shoes tomorrow.

I washed the plantation shutters.

By then I was exhausted, so I threw in the towel and sat for an hour listening to the rain.

The first dinner for 2024 was duck with spicy sweet sauce and salad.

We played trivia after dinner and I’ve been watching the tennis ever since.

It’s been a good productive day and I hope I’m feeling the same motivation tomorrow to finish the job and I’ll smudge the room with burning sage once I’m done.

My body is feeling decidedly weary now.

We Made It

In 40 minutes it will be 2024.

Happy to see the back end of 2023.

I’m going to be focusing on creating a brighter, more positive year for me.

I’m going to remove doubt from my life and trust that the universe has my back.

I don’t need to know all the answers.

I’m going to manifest the energy of love and compassion and I will not be held hostage to the darkness of others.

I will be the master of my own instrument - my mind, body and soul.

I will hold the giant bucket to receive so much love from the universe that I have more to share.

I will work on my need to procrastinate and heal the trauma that causes it.

I will strengthen my self respect and take a leap of faith believing that everything I want will come to me if I look up and hand the hard stuff over.

It’s definitely time for a change. I’ve made myself small, if not invisible, for too long

I will transform my life and stand in my own truth because I am enough and I deserve to shine my light.

Only “I” completely understand all of that but I’m the only one who needs to understand it.

I spent my morning returning some of the pool furniture to the Bali hut, cleaning the leaves out of the pool (after the storm last night), emptying out the skimmer box and getting the pool creepy crawly working again (with Adoring Husband’s help).

AH had to reset the pump after the blackout.

I played with Harley for an hour, made myself some breakfast and planted myself in front of the TV for the rest of the day.

I caught up with The Gypsy at 3pm over a ZOOM call, then again at 7.30pm for tarot card readings. We spent five and half hours looking at each other’s faces on the monitor via a very dodgy connection due to gale force winds at her end.

We had easy hamburgers for our last dinner of 2023.

Now I’m exhausted so it’s time to sleep.
