Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Search Party

I spent a good portion of today searching for Harley’s choker chain.

It is nowhere to be found.

We are walking tomorrow morning with Rebel Mardi and luckily I have a normal collar for the occasion, but I’m not sure he will allow me to put it on him. I guess we just have to wait and see.

What’s the bet I find that choker chain tomorrow after we return from our walk!

Other than searching for the choker chain, today consisted of Harley play and art…

Dinner was honey/lemon chicken with roasted mixed vegetables, beans and broccolini.

Now I’d best sleep since I’m meeting Rebel Mardi at 6am!

Catching Up

I was up until 1.30am watching Australia win the cricket.

Which means I’m tired now!

BGWLBH drove into The Bay and I chose to stay home.

I did a tiny touch of art …

I would be further advanced but the lighting is terrible in the lounge room AND my bedroom. The only place with good lighting is my artspace so I guess I’ll be spending more time there in the coming weeks.

That’s it. I need to sleep.

Zoom Zoom

I had nothing planned for today.

Before I got out of bed, I was contemplating joining an online Qi Gong workshop for body healing. It was going to commence at 10.30am today.

Just as I was figuring out how much value it would be for me, I received a text from The Gypsy asking if I was free for a Zoom chat at 10.30am.

Problem solved.

So I started my day with Harley play for an hour, followed by breakfast of plain coconut yoghurt with raspberries, banana, grapes, dried wild blueberries, crushed nuts and a splash of pure maple syrup. Delicious and healthful.

I received a text from Fraser Coast council telling me that Harley’s registration was overdue so after a convoluted conversation with Adoring Husband about whether it had already been done, or not, I quickly got online and paid it.

Easy peasy.

Just in time to join The Gypsy on the Zoom call.

2.5 hours later, we reluctantly said our goodbyes.

There’s just so much to talk about, discuss, philosophise, analyse and laugh about. Time goes so quickly and we are always surprised when we look at the clock for the first time and see how much time has passed.

I made myself some lunch - ham, tomato, onion and beetroot sandwich - with a cup of anti-inflammatea.

I did have a little doze on the couch while I watched my quiz shows.

More Harley play before I made a zucchini slice, lamb rissoles and a garden salad for dinner.

We played YouTube trivia after dinner and have been watching the cricket semifinal since 7pm. Australia vs South Africa and the winner plays India in the final on Sunday. Touch wood … Australia is looking good so far.

My son-in-law received his purple belt in Jiu-jitsu tonight! Clever boy. Only two more to get now!

I’m off to watch the cricket now.

Restless

The first half of my night was restless as my tummy took time to settle, but the second half of the night was sound and healing, so I woke up feeling energised and well rested.

After an hour playing with Harley, I made myself tea and toast and then got ready for a trip into The Bay.

There seemed to be a LOT of our usual purchases on sale in Coles so I did a BIG grocery shop doubling up on pastas and tinned tomatoes, passatas, tomato paste etc. We usually have lasagne or bolognese once a fortnight so we can never have too much of this stuff in the pantry, especially when it’s cheap.

Our clothes washing liquid was half price, as were my ‘dairy free’ magnums.

Office Works also have a big sale on, so we rushed right over there! NONE of the stuff that we regularly buy was on sale. Bugger! But we spent money anyway.

For the second week in a row, I won ZIP on all of my lotto tickets. I figure third week lucky 🍀

I had some contact with my LB again which was lovely.

I had some contact with Bubbles who is organising a trip up here in February next year. Can’t wait!!

I confirmed my place on the Women’s retreat at Dallarnil on 26th November.

BGWLBH and I discussed and decided to have a stall at the Community Markets in December.

I made three plates of nachos for dinner tonight - in place of this weeks tacos.

So quite a bit going on today.

Now I need to sleep.

Just a Touch

I am a touch unwell.

Having run out of colloidal silver three days ago, I stopped taking my ‘twice daily’ dose and I’ve gradually felt my stomach becoming more tender as the days go by.

It was particularly tender today and three hours after lunch, I lost my lunch!

I came to bed at 4pm and this is where I’ll stay.

Adoring Husband and BGWLBH are fending for themselves for dinner - which shouldn’t be difficult with leftover salads from last night and some lamb rumps cooked on the barbecue.

I napped for an hour on the couch this afternoon but already I’m feeling my eyelids heavy so I may need another nap shortly.

Meditation and Qi Gong were satisfying, as always, but no session with The Gypsy afterwards. We chatted for 30 minutes after class and I detoured via the butcher and supermarket on the way home.

Now it’s time to rest and rejuvenate and heal.

Doofus Head

This is my doofus head …

He’s so goofy and so smart at the same time. (I mean Harley … not Adoring Husband) haha.

I did a load of washing AND I washed Harley’s bedding today, after which I had to clean the filters in the washing machine.

So much dog hair!

That’s the only thing wrong with Border Collies. Too much hair!

It’s on the furniture, all over my clothes, woven through the carpet, floating over the floor tiles, in my bed and somehow in my food ugh!

Harley’s Mum had ten more pups today …

Their colours are gorgeous.

Happy birthday to my LB whose birthday is actually 13th Nov (today).

I didn’t do any art today.

Bangers with lots of salads for dinner.

Best get some sleep because I have meditation and Qi Gong tomorrow morning.

New Trick

For only the second time this season, I swam in the pool today.

As usual, I was too lazy to go inside and change into my bathers, so I swam in the clothes I was wearing - capri length leggings and a singlet top.

The water was glorious and I didn’t even need to ease my way in.

Harley thought it was fabulous and he learnt a new trick!

I stood at the shallow end and he dropped the ball into the water beside me. As I picked it up, he would run like the clappers to the other end of the pool and when I threw the ball, he caught it on the full! Then he would run back to me and drop the ball in the water beside me and run back to the other end.

He loved it!

After a while, when he was looking exhausted and was panting like a crazy thing, I said “Let’s have a rest.” So he jumped into the water and swam into my open arms where I held him until he would push off, swim in a circle and back to my open arms.

He’s a funny kid.

I love him to pieces.

Dinner tonight was crispy skinned chicken with a garden salad and potato salad.

Tonight was my little brother’s surprise birthday celebration dinner at a sushi bar in Dakabin. He is now 60yrs old! I couldn’t get there for it, so Rosie arranged a face time call for 7.30pm. It was so good to see his face and hear his voice, though I must say he was looking very sad in his eyes. I hope he’s ok.

He wasn’t drinking. THAT is unusual. Again, I hope he’s ok.

Ok time for me to sleep now.
