Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Lazy Saturday

‘This is a war of propaganda’ John Pilger on Ukraine and Assange

A lazy Saturday at home.

Breakfast in my art space because it was a grey rainy day and not so pleasant under the Bali hut.

I stayed there and did some work on the octopus before I was invited to play TV trivia with the gang. We played for about two hours until the footy came on. I’m now five correct from six games so far in the footy tipping.

I made roast vegetables with sweet barbecue chicken for dinner, followed by fruit whip for dessert.

So nothing exciting to report. No pics. But there are always memes.

All Clear

Adoring Husband attended an early appointment with his doctor to get the results of multiple tests regarding his health.

Apart from being “old”, he is fine.

All clear!

Excellent news!

While he was gone I got out of bed and made breakfast, which I ate under the Bali hut, and while I was there I watched the most recent episode of ‘The Great Pottery Throw Down’. Love that show.

I did a tour of the garden and discovered our last radish hiding behind a pea plant …

Art was on my mind so I decided to attack my octopus and got quite a bit done. There’s lots more to do yet but it felt very therapeutic.

BGWLBH made up a couple of big grazing platters for our late lunch.

I watched my quiz shows while AH and BGWLBH moved the side gates forward in front of the new carport.

They took so long, it was my job to cook the usual Friday night fare for dinner.

We finished that in time to watch Friday night football. So far I have three correct tips out of three games.

A very uneventful Friday for which I am grateful.

I’m watching the synchronised diving event from the Commonwealth Games and will probably fall asleep to it. I'll put the sleep timer on.

Perfectly Pleasant

The weather was perfectly pleasant today and after my cooked breakfast of poached eggs, I sat under the Bali hut with my cup of tea for about an hour.

While Adoring Husband and BGWLBH watched The Umbrella Academy on TV, I decided to clear some more stuff out of my old art space. Some of it came to my new art space and some of it got tossed but even after 90 minutes, there’s still a way to go!

I was tempted to do some art, but I have four projects on the go at the moment and I was about to start a fifth when I realised that I need to finish something before starting number five.

My table needs at least another month to cure before I can coat it with resin so that’s not an option.

I need a hot glue gun to go on to the next step of my textured shell art. AH will grab one of those for me tomorrow while he’s in The Bay.

That leaves my underwater reef and my octopus acrylics to complete.

I need to be careful not to have too many projects unfinished or I’ll just overwhelm myself!

I watched my quiz shows and prepared a lasagne with salad for dinner, followed by fruit whip for dessert. Pineapple, banana, passionfruit and strawberry with coconut cream.

We played TV trivia for more than an hour before the football started.

Thankfully, I did not tip my team tonight and they lost to the Roosters. It was a disappointing game.

It’s almost 11.30pm and I’m feeling quite weary so it’s sleep time for me.

Is Winter Over?

The End of Medicine (Spectator Australia news item)

It was a pleasant and mild morning down at the park for our morning catch up with the art girls.

We were running late so had to skip past Beauty who was out walking her dog but we called out a quick hullo!

We did some produce swapping. Lettuce for duck eggs. Good deal!

There were only four of us today. One was whale watching with visiting family, one had her car in for service and studying for exams, one was working and one promised to be with us next week.

We were on our way home before 11am.

BGWLBH and I then drove to Salty Squid for takeaway lunch.

Two Fajita Bowls with chicken and one Greek Prawns. While we waited, we walked down to the boat ramp which is currently receiving a make over and then wandered through the Goodies gift shop where I purchased some new slippers and some coasters.

By the time we arrived home, the food was no longer hot, but still warm enough to enjoy. My Greek Prawns had too many black olives, but aside from that, very, very nice.

Adoring Husband had spent the morning in The Bay emptying out Bunnings (again) and picking up the FROG box.

After lunch, I emptied the FROG box, put on my new slippers, made a cup of Women’s Vitality tea, checked to see if the first layer of my art was dry (not quite), gathered my sketch pad and pencils and did no sketching … although it is early yet (4pm) and I may do some later.

I’m watching my quiz shows right now and trying to figure out what to do for dinner. Something light after such a big lunch.

Later …

Leftover roast chicken and salad for dinner. AH had the leftover chicken sausages from last night. Nothing for dessert - although I did munch on two big fat strawberries that we bought from Childers.

I’m watching the Beauty and the Geek finale and we are at the end. It’s going to go way over time.

Aaron and Karly won!!

It’s time for me to go to bed.

A Day For The Girlies

We enjoyed a girly day.

We started at Aquavue for breakfast where we sat for a good 90 minutes eating our breakfast, drinking our beverages, soaking up the water views and reminiscing over the decades and in particular the early years of our friendship.

35 years of friendship and each other’s greatest supporters.

I had to return a broken candle to Tinkerbell’s and while I was there, yep you guessed it, I put a deposit on a bracelet and pendant. A multi-coloured tourmaline triple layer bracelet and a baroque pearl pendant.

The remainder of the day was spent checking off our list, spending money, window shopping, browsing, delighting in a mango sorbet ice cream, purchasing from a different butcher (not impressed with the Pialba butcher), checking the mail and other assorted fun things.

It was after 4pm when we returned home feeling pretty buggered actually!

Adoring Husband cooked our meat on the barbecue, BGWLBH picked all the salad stuff from the garden and I prepared the salad.

We watched the Hunted finale and were very happy with the two winners. Taking all the stupid rules into consideration, which put the contestants at a definite disadvantage, they did incredibly well to reach the end. They deserved the cash prize.

Tomorrow is Beauty and The Geek finale. I want Azza and Carly to win.

Next week will be our greatest dilemma. Sunday night is the start of ‘My Kitchen Rules’, ‘The Masked Singer’, ‘The Block’ and ‘Spicksnspecks’!!!

Tonight I won $33 on OzLotto. A few zeroes on the end of that would have been nice.

Here is a new photo of my girls and Chicklet’s latest piece of art …

Now it’s time for me to sleep.

Lost Then Found

You’ll be pleased to know that after a restless night of not knowing where Adoring Husband’s wallet was and hoping that daylight would shed more light on the subject, BGWLBH searched the same car that AH and I combed through three times last night and she found it in one of the back door pockets!

How the hell did it get there?

Anyway, great relief for AH and thank goodness I was able to convince him NOT to cancel his cards last night. We checked his bank account and there had been no activity on the card so we figured it hadn’t been stolen and on a spending spree.

Recently, I’ve watched a couple of YouTube videos of Johnny Depp creating his art.

He wears colourful hats, headbands, scarves, bangles, bracelets, vests, glasses and jewellery.

So I decided that I was going to trigger my own inner creativity by finding some way out items to wear while I worked in my art space.

This is what I started today, on a big-ish square canvas. It is yet to be painted and glittered and resined and I expect the process will take a couple of weeks as I wait for each layer to dry and cure.

I’m pleased with my progress so far and I think my creativity was helped by channeling Johnny Depp.

Tonight’s dinner was roast chicken with a green salad from our garden and home made potato cakes followed by fruit whip.

We watched our shows and here it is after 11pm. After last night’s drama, I’m feeling quite weary so it’s sleep time for me.

 It’s all.

Festival Fun

Covid Deaths

We were up bright and early for our drive to Childers.

We were the second car in the church car park.

I spent a fortune on jewellery, plant hangers, signs, candles, mobile, black garlic paste, passionfruit sauce, balsamic vinegar and other stuff.

After two and a half hours, we were in the car ready to return home.

We totally missed the big crowds who were marching in as we left. A six kilometre queue of cars was inching it’s way into town and we were grateful to have had a perfectly delightful morning with a clear path to all the stalls.

BGWLBH had spent the morning cleaning so a shiny clean house was waiting for us, which was lovely.

While BGWLBH and Adoring Husband watched weird stuff on TV, I napped out by the pool.

I watched the footy.

I made duck with mash and veg for dinner.

We played TV trivia until our shows came on and suddenly it was 10pm.

NOW it’s almost 1am and I NEED sleep.

AH has misplaced his wallet and we’ve spent 90 minutes searching high and low, to no avail. We’ll wait until light tomorrow to check everywhere again before we cancel cards. Very stressful for AH who has never lost a wallet in his life, but as I said, “It’s a terrible inconvenience, but it’s not the end of the world”

There has been no activity on the account so that a positive thing.

Anyway, sleep time for me.
