Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

Short Sweet Done

Just a big day in The Bay.

LOTS of food shopping.

Meat, vegetables, fruit, fresh bread, fresh seafood.

It was exhausting.

I made a Moreton bay bug sandwich. Yum!

So, no other news to share.

Nite all.

Peace in my World

Today was another lovely quiet peaceful day.

The weather was extremely warm, so this afternoon, I swam in the very warm water of our pool.

The pool guy came today, testing our water and adding what was necessary. He couldn’t backwash because there wasn’t enough water in the pool. Between Harley jumping in and out (removing half a litre of water in his coat every time he jumps out), plus the wind and high temperatures, the water level drops considerably.

While the hose was turned on to fill it, I swam a few laps of the pool in between tossing the ball for Harley.

It’s so hot now, I can’t take Harley into the pool area between 11am and 4pm because the ground is so hot, it burns his paws.

AH played golf and left the house at lunch time.

During the day, I caught up on the latest “Taskmaster” and “Great Australian Bake Off”. I also watched 2 episodes of the new series “Day of the Jackal” with Eddie Redmayne. So far, I’m liking it.

For dinner, I cooked lemon chicken drumsticks, roasted cherry tomatoes, garlic green beans and this …

Except I did oblongs instead of rounds, and used toasted pine nuts instead of almonds because BGWLBH is allergic to almonds. It was all received well and Adoring Husband went back for seconds.

No trivia tonight because BGWLBH has a sore throat and was not feeling well.

AH and I are watching the old 1967 movie “The Dirty Dozen” right now - well actually AH is asleep in his chair hugging the book that he’s in the middle of reading.

It’s a great old movie.

That’s it for my day.

Truly Trumped

I knew he would win.

Beyoncé nor Taylor Swift could save the incredibly incompetent Kamala Harris.

With Trump, what you see is what you get.

With Harris, you get a weak puppet manipulated by the rich and powerful.

There were many “stars” who declared that they would move from USA if Trump won - Cher, Bryan Cranston, Miley Cyrus, Barbra Streisand, Amy Schumer, Chelsea Handler, Samuel L Jackson, Lena Dunham, Neve Campbell and more.

Do they really believe that anyone really cares?

They are just people.

Flesh and blood like the rest of us.

Their political opinions mean nothing and moving to another country will change nothing, except their living arrangements!

Trump’s victory shows how social media has more power than mainstream media.

He turned his back on MSM calling them “fake news” and rushed into the open arms of social media platforms like BitChute, Rumble, Truth Social, Tik Tok, Podcasters and any others that refuse to censor people and who believe in freedom of speech.

I love seeing MSM squirming in their seats now - they were so certain that Trump had no chance.

Anyway, that’s how I spent my day - watching the election results, listening to influential Americans talk about the failings of Trump and how he was going to lose and by how much, while raving about how Harris would be triumphant.

I also watched a movie called “Two Guns” with Denzel Washington and Mark Wahlberg. I enjoyed it.

It was a day of rest. A good day.

Time to sleep.

Catch Up

Monday was a pretty big day.

BGWLBH drove Adoring Husband to the train station in the early hours of the morning so that he could travel to Brisbane for his next follow up appointment with the Parkinson’s professor.

His trip was going well until some truck driver in Brisbane accidentally hit the power lines over the railway. This meant that AH had to disembark from the train at Caboolture and take the bus that was provided to Roma Street, so he arrived an hour later than planned.

This wasn’t a problem because he still had 2 hours to kill until his appointment.

The power situation was not rectified by the time he was returning home at 5pm so he had to catch a bus all the way to Gympie and then transfer to a train for the remaining 150kms.

It was a long day and he didn’t arrive home until 10pm.

Meanwhile, BGWLBH and I drove into The Bay. There was plenty of shopping - more Christmas gifts, lotto, groceries etc. We were on our way home at lunch time.

It was a lovely quiet afternoon.

Today, it was a recovery day for AH so he rested and recuperated.

I had meditation and hoop qi gong. The usual catch up with The Gypsy, but only for an hour today. Afterwards, I rode around town and checked out the new estates. Probably not a good idea in the heat of the day.

It meant that I had to rest and recuperate in the afternoon!

Now I need to sleep.

Markets Weekend

Howard market was the reasoning behind my early start on Saturday morning.

I found a couple of Christmas presents, a tray of fresh mangoes for $25 (20 mangoes), some Moreton Bay bugs for “fend for yourself” Saturday night dinner, a few fresh vegetables and a tub of Celtic Sea salt.

BGWLBH also found some Christmas presents.

We were home by 9am and at 10am we decided to head into The Bay. We did the usual stops, newsagent, butcher, Choice, Coles, Su Jus etc. Home again by 2pm. Harley was very happy to see me!

The Moreton Bay bugs were delicious with avocado, mango, cherry tomatoes and lemon juice.

Today was an earlier start than I like on a Sunday because BGWLBH decided to clean the bathroom (right next to my bedroom) and was banging and crashing while she did it. Then to well and truly wake me up, Adoring Husband decided to make a cappuccino and started banging to empty the coffee grains.

I figured there was no point remaining in bed when the world obviously wanted me up and about.

I played with Harley, made my breakfast, watched a couple of Netflix movies - “Made in Italy” and “Honest Thief”, went for a swim and did 22 laps as well as throwing the ball a thousand times for Harley!

For dinner I baked chicken thighs, baked sweet potato in their jackets with bacon, capsicum, celery, shallots, zucchini, goats cheese and pine nuts spooned over the top, roasted cherry tomatoes and garlic butter beans.

AH returned for seconds and BGWLBH congratulated me on my cooking prowess!

We watched The Block tonight.

AH has an appointment with the Parkinson’s professor I Brisbane tomorrow so it will be a very early start.

Time for me to sleep now.
