Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

“Special”

Only my girls could get me out for the day tomorrow.

My week has been busy, draining, tiring and has all but taken every ounce of social energy from my poor old bod.

Lots of visitors.

Lots of new stock.

Lots of cleaning and clearing.

Lots of setting up and preparing.

Lots of customers.

Lots of workshopping.

I attended a 60th birthday party this evening.

Lunch with the girls tomorrow in Scaryborough.

A day in The Bay with Adoring Husband on Monday.

Thank heavens for a public holiday on Tuesday. That will be my day in bed to hopefully rest, rejuvenate, regenerate and forget that the world is out there.

I could only manage 2 hours at the party tonight. That included 1.5 margaritas and a delicious roast pork dinner. I shared some love with a Jack Russell puppy, a black Poodle puppy and a big black and white dog named chicka. There were 9 kookaburras that popped by for a visit. I got the tour of the shipping container come art studio ... very envious! The sunset was spectacular. A few laughs with my art/meditation girls.

Then home.

The art class today was another big success with two newbies ...

Oh and an excellent day of sales!

I need to sleep now.

Paced Myself

I had an average day of sales.

I had a visit from The Brains Trust.

I had another delivery.

I was able to unpack, check, price and display four of today’s boxes as well as yesterday’s big box of scarves and clothes.

I paced myself well.

I have had a headache for three days 😳

I resorted to drugs for pain relief.

I came home to binge watch New Girl. I haven’t even reached the end of the first season yet.

I had dinner cooked for me again. Thank you Adoring Husband.

I am very tired.

Nite all.

Visitors Galore!

At 7am I met The Gypsy at the shop where we sat in the training room attempting to catch up on the last 6 weeks of our lives. Impossible to do inside two hours but it was an enjoyable morning.

At 9am on the dot I received another visitor - one of my consignment ladies - who stayed for about 20 minutes.

Soon after, another consignment lady arrived and chatted for 30 minutes.

At 10.30am, one of the meditation girls popped in. An hour later, just as the crowds moved in, she left.

Another half hour passed and one of my art girls walked in. While we were chatting, another lady, whose husband has Parkinson’s, visited me for her 3 monthly vent. They knew each other so the three way chat lasted for about 30 minutes.

While they were there, I received a delivery of stock.

I got 5 items out of the box when my next visitor, an old photography student, arrived with a friend. They stayed for 30 minutes.

In between all of these visitors, I had a huge day of sales, so even though Adoring Husband set up the tables in the training room for the art class on Saturday, I didn’t get a chance to do any setting up.

One of the art girls is coming in on Saturday morning to help 😍

I didn’t get a chance to unpack the delivery either.

I’m feeling mentally drained from so much socialising! I’m going to need a day in bed to recover from this week!

AH cooked curried chicken with cauliflower rice for dinner. He did a great job and it was delicious - he thought I was a growing teenage boy and filled my plate accordingly - so I couldn’t eat even half of it! He was definitely my hero tonight because I was in no frame of mind to cook.

It’s now my bed time.

Nite all.

Night of Ekk

I woke at midnight last night with mild stomach cramps that gradually increased in strength until I felt the need to sit on the loo.

I felt so bad, hot and clammy that I didn’t know if I wanted to sit on the toilet or hug it!

The cramps got worse and I felt like I had a temperature. I grabbed a hand towel, saturated it with cold water and wrapped it around the back of my neck and that’s where I sat for two hours.

There was no action, just cramps and sweating and feeling nauseated.

By the time I could crawl back into bed, my pyjama top was drenched from the wet towel, but I left it on because the fan helped cool me down and by 3.30am I was sleeping soundly.

I woke to the alarm at 7am and hit the snooze button 4 times before I got up to have a shower.

I felt fine, but lack of sleep left me feeling pretty lethargic all day.

Lucky for me it was a very slow day for sales so I spent the time clearing my desk and mostly relaxing. I did however, discover halfway through the day that I was wearing my top inside out! That’s an indication of how out of sorts I was when I dressed myself!

I rested my tummy with a watermelon and pineapple juice in the morning and black tea during the day. Lots of water.

It’s now 10.30pm and I have a very early appointment so it’s sleep time for me.

Nite all.

Safe n Sound

Beautiful Girl With Long Blonde Hair arrived home safe n sound this afternoon.

Such a relief.

Adoring Husband and I arrived at the shop before 7.45am and spent 45 minutes clearing the disaster zone in the training room and vacuuming the floor.

He had to leave at 8.40am to drive psychotic dog Colli into The Bay for a well overdue grooming ...

My girls arrived for our coffee morning but it was busy in the shop and I got very little time with them. I don’t think I even sat for one entire conversation! 😳

Some more lady’s fashion items arrived in the mail so I spent almost the entire day steaming, pricing a displaying clothes. Steaming is the one drawback of having clothes in the shop.

Journaling was cancelled for the day due to illness and Drs appointments.

Molly’s Ma came to clean so I kept the shop open until 3pm. Nobody came in during that last hour.

Having said that, it was still a good day of sales!

We thoroughly enjoyed our salmon steak with salad for dinner tonight and after my early start, later finish and all that steaming, I’m definitely ready for sleep.

I am not Sophia, but I am all those other things ... as are you!

Nite all.

Lazy Bones

Beautiful Girl With Long Blonde Hair left well before I got up this morning.

The house felt very empty without her.

She had an eventful trip having to pull over for wild storms and then was held up due to a bad accident near Yarraman.

Tonight she is sleeping in Tamworth at The Golden Guitar Motel!

My day had a very low vibe and I couldn’t find the motivation to do anything productive.

A couple of loads of washing and I ate a GF Thai chicken pie then half a tub of ice cream filled with crushed waffle cones for lunch.

I watched a couple of Netflix movies “The Fundamentals of Caring” is one that I’d recommend.

Adoring Husband mowed the lawns AND cooked dinner which was nice.

Now I need a good nights sleep and get to work early to clear the explosion of a mess in my training room!

Nite all.

😭☹️😭

The holiday for Beautiful Girl With Long Blonde Hair is over.

By the time you read this, she will be well and truly on her way.

We said our light and fluffy goodbyes tonight before bed and tomorrow morning we will avoid each other as she rushes out the door.

Her morning smoothie is prepared and in her cold flask. Her chicken and salad is prepared ready to throw in her cold bag. Her bags are packed and the car is loaded up.

We just can’t bear the goodbyes.

All going well, she will return in November.

Before I even got out of bed, she had drawn the outline of the turtle on the wall near the pool ...

I got out of bed at 8am and made our morning smoothie and went out to make judgement on her artwork.

We had a swim and a float and a loll in the early morning sunshine before lazing for a while under the Bali hut.

I made a few changes to the turtle and we came inside to create a delicious grazing platter for three for our lunch.

After lunch, we played trivia.

I won!

BGWLBH and I went to our bedrooms for an afternoon rest while Adoring Husband watched his new Dr Who dvds.

I prepared barramundi, sweet potato chips and a salsa for dinner. BGWLBH made a green salad.

It was delicious and we followed that with more trivia - which I won!! 🤸🏼🤸🏻‍♀️🤸🏽‍♂️

We are all in bed early and I’m feeling a bit low knowing that my house will be short one human tomorrow morning.

Nite all.

Penultimate

Beautiful Girl With Long Blonde Hair will be known, for today’s blog post only, as Uncle Jamie.

Inside joke.

SHE knows what I’m talking about!

It was nice to have Aggie visit me at work this morning. She’s been away for a while so there was some catching up to be had.

All of my sales at the shop happened between 11am and 12pm. It was a fabulous hour of sales.

I sold 5 of these dresses ...

and have sold two more on preorders! They are lovely and comfortable and cool.

Uncle Jamie, after having her nails done in The Bay, came to the shop and steamed the remainder of the tops from yesterday for me and then offered to vacuum the floors. That was a huge help.

Adoring Husband didn’t need to pick me up because Uncle Jamie helped me close up and drove us home.

I got changed and we made up a big share platter of various fruits, avocado and tuna dip, chicken pate and two different types of plain crackers for lunch.

Before swimming in the pool, we took all of the fruit left in the fridge, chopped it up and bagged it to freeze for smoothies.

It was a lovely afternoon in the water and then we lazed by the pool for about an hour.

We both decided to lay down for a nap in the late afternoon. Neither of us was very successful but it was good to at least rest.

Dinner was crispy skinned chicken with spinach, pumpkin and pine nut salad and a garden salad.

While Uncle Jamie cleaned up after dinner, AH and I drew up the grid on the wall beside the pool ready for Uncle Jamie to draw the turtle ready to be painted.

I hate Uncle Jamie!!

We played trivia and I won!!

Uncle Jamie was not happy 😆

It was our penultimate day together and by the time you read this there will be just one more sleep til she hits the road and makes her way home.

Hopefully, all things going well with “the Rona” she will return in November. Our postponed road trip will be going ahead and we’ll have even more time together! Fingers crossed.

It’s now approaching 1am so it’s sleep time for me.

Nite all.
