Nice to see you!

Three major events occurred for me last year (2010), all in the space of about 2 weeks. I turned 50. The following day I got married. Two weeks later, my oldest daughter became pregnant with her first child and my first grandchild.

Most middle-aged people will tell you that in their minds, they still feel 20 something. It's the same for me.

Wasn't it only yesterday that I was planning a night out with guys from the surf club? That gorgeous new perm. Flaired, cuffed denims and the red t-shirt with the off-the-shoulder frill. Corked platform wedgies. **sigh**

Suddenly I'm looking in the mirror and wondering how 30 years can flash by so damned quickly!

So here I am in cyberspace, sharing my genuine shock and horror with anyone who'll listen and maybe I'll even meet some other over 50s who find themselves in the same predicament!

Welcome to my dilemna!!

My Fifth Photo

It's week five of the 52Frames year and this week's theme is 'Blue' ...

The extra challenge was to include a contrasting colour and I wasn't sure if maybe I used too much of the contrasting colour. I couldn't tell if this was a theme of "orange" or "blue"!

Anyway, it doesn't matter now. I've submitted it and I'm done. Time to look at next week's theme which is "Puddle" ... handy that next week's weather forecast is for rain, rain and more rain! So there should be plenty of puddles around.

I spent most of today (Sunday) in, or I should say, ON, my bed.

I watched the second day of my webinar for "Building and branding an online business" which went for three hours.

I watched the movie "If" with Adoring Husband which I enjoyed and even shed a couple of happy tears. After that, we watched "Back in Action" with Cameron Diaz and Jamie Fox. I enjoyed that one too.

It was 'fend for yourself' night so I didn't have to prepare any meals.

There was a bit of rain this afternoon so Harley didn't get much of a play, but he enjoyed chewing on his afternoon meaty bone.

It's almost midnight so I need to sleep now.

What a Day

So … while the aircon guys were in the ceiling this week, they did something to the TV cabling - they were either unaware that they did it OR knew they did it and just didn’t tell us.

We have five TVs.

One in the lounge room, one in the kitchen, one in the alfresco area, one in my bedroom and one in Adoring Husband’s bedroom.

I know … that’s a LOT!

The only two that are currently working, are mine and the lounge room. The others no longer have signal.

Now we have to pay for a guy to come out and fix it.

Next …

AH discovered that ‘somebody’, via our bank account, has made a BPay payment of $830 to some medical fund that we are not connected to.

How does that even happen? 😳

After hours on the phone, receiving and filling out paperwork and discussions with two bank employees, they are investigating the problem. Meanwhile, they have blocked our online account and we have no access to online banking. We can still make purchases with our card though.

Through all of this, I was supposed to be watching a 3 hour webinar about online business creation, but AH knocked on my door a million times and 4 hours later, I’d still only watched 50 minutes of it.

I then saw a news story about the rains up north and realised the rain system had moved south over my sister at Magnetic Island, so I texted her “Are you ok?”

Next thing, she is FaceTiming me!

Lovely to see her face and chat with her - it has been almost two years! But the timing was bad - Harley was waiting for his play time, I still had to watch the webinar and dinner was almost ready (luckily it was AH’s night to cook).

They have received 256mm rain since 9am today! They had to dig a couple of trenches to redirect the flooding waters but the yard is still ankle deep in water.

48 minutes later, my bladder needed emptying and I had to terminate our conversation.

Because I was otherwise engaged, AH made the marinade for tonight’s chicken wings. I was able to eat two mouthfuls. I can usually bear more heat than the other two, but not tonight. It tasted like he’d poured half the bottle of chilli sauce into it. I conceded defeat and made myself a ham and capsicum relish toasted sandwich.

Straight after dinner I retreated to my bedroom to finish that webinar, because I had another live webinar starting at 8pm about creating ebooks to sell on Amazon, that I didn’t want to miss.

I discovered at the end of that webinar that the cost of the full course was almost $3,000.

Yeah. Nah.

I will spend the time and work it out for myself. Between YouTube, Leonie Dawson and Google, I reckon I can get the job done.

Anyway, I’m really tired, so I might attempt to sleep now.

New Girl in Town

This arrived today …

Pretty happy about that!

It took 3 hours to export everything from my old laptop to this new one. I probably should have deleted a lot of crap from the old one first. Instead, I’m deleting it from the new laptop!

That’s how I spent my day - between a couple of loads of washing, a couple of plays with Harley and cooking an early dinner of snags with salad - I played with my new toy.

I’ve watched MAFS and now “Becoming Madonna”.

I was hoping to win $40million on Powerball, but it seems I’ll be winning $60million next week instead. This week, I won $31.45. It’s a start.

I think it’s time to sleep now.

Happiness

The air conditioner is now running perfectly.

It was too hot to sleep on Tuesday night. I fell asleep at midnight and woke at 2.05am. That was it. No more sleep to be had.

My bedroom was like a sauna. The breeze through the windows had disappeared and it was hot, humid and oppressive.

BGWLBH and I had decided that we would leave early to have breakfast somewhere air conditioned! And spend the day in the Bay until Adoring Husband gave us the OK to come home to a cool house.

The workers were in the driveway as we left and I called out to them “I’m tired, hot and cranky! You’re lucky I’m out for the day!” but I finished with a smile saying “No, I do hope you have a good day.”

They were done well before lunch and we returned home at about 1.30pm to a cool house.

AH gave us verbal instructions for the new control unit and explained the ‘zones’.

The unit is certainly much quieter now - it might be difficult to sleep without the white noise of the aircon in the background!

We are all much happier now.

I cooked barramundi, roast pumpkin and spinach salad, fried rice and a coleslaw made with shredded red and white cabbage, apple, radish, red onion, fresh beetroot and cranberries. It filled their bellies.

MAFS started this week. Wahoo!

Now I need to sleep… there’s a lot to catch up on.

Miserable Az

We are not happy.

Today was the day that our aircon insulation piping was being replaced.

Two males arrived at 7.45am (I left the house for meditation at the same time) and they left the house at 2.20pm leaving us with a mess of plaster crumbs over the kitchen benches, the beds, the dining table and anywhere else that a duct outlet was in the ceiling.

They left us with no air conditioning!

They are returning tomorrow to complete the job, but meanwhile, it is 27°C at 10pm and the house is a sauna.

My bedroom is the most comfortable with a slight breeze coming through the window and I have the pedestal fan.

BGWLBH, whose bedroom is a sauna in Summer, has taken couch cushions into the artspace and is lying on the floor with the split system aircon running.

We were not warned that this could happen so we are very ‘put out’ and uncomfortable.

Luckily there is a pool in the back yard so we were able to cool off this afternoon.

Ugh 😩

BGWLBH and I will be leaving the house early in the morning to find somewhere cooler to eat breakfast and spend time until Adoring Husband calls us to confirm that our aircon is doing its job again.

We already spent today in the Bay so at least we didn’t have to deal with the heat for the first half of the day.

So now it’s time to attempt sleep.

Wish me luck.

Public Holiday

I enjoyed today.

Harley and I had fun together.

Because The Gypsy and I cannot hang around after meditation tomorrow, we decided to have a zoom meeting today.

We talked about love, fear, human instinct, positive and negative energy, conscious awareness, mindfulness, inner healing, emotional releases and so much more, over 2.5hrs.

Our chats are the best!

I cooked fried rice, crispy skinned chicken and a honey/soy sauce. It was received well and Adoring Husband came back for seconds.

Tomorrow is meditation and a day in The Bay.

Best get some sleep.

Underdog

You know I always support the underdog.

I really hoped Sverev would put on a better show against Sinner but his confidence needs some work.

Disappointing.

Adoring Husband and I caught up on all the “I’m a Celebrity” eps from last week and tonight I flipped back and forth between that and the tennis.

I’m excited that MAFS starts tomorrow night and next week, Australian Idol commences.

I guess my evenings are booked out for a couple of months!

Tonight, I’ve written a letter to Chicklet and added a little more to my art journal. I reckon I can finish the first page of the journal tomorrow.

AH mowed the front footpath and half of the front lawn this morning. He was so hot when he finished, he stripped off and jumped into the pool.

I’ve had a relaxing day. My only real chore was cooking curried lamb mince served with baked sweet potato in their jackets. The lamb mince was full of vegetables like celery, capsicum, carrot, potato, onion, garlic, mushroom and ginger.

It was quite tasty, with a good kick of heat and very healthful.

Now it’s time for me to sleep.
